Sugar Rush Dice Slot Review
A pastel candy kingdom where the symbols tumbling down the reels are dice, not gummy bears. Swapping the series’ sweets for rolling bones should be a lazy reskin, but it isn’t: the dice reshape the paytable into something steeper and more top-heavy than the original, where the pink die is worth six times what anything else at the bottom pays, and every big win funnels through it. Pragmatic Play have kept the engine and quietly changed what a win looks like.
The familiar escalation of tumbles and marked spots still carries the game. It runs on a 7×7 grid where clusters of five or more connected symbols pay, at 96.50% RTP with high volatility, and stakes run from 0.20 to 240.00 per spin. Sister titles Sugar Rush and Sugar Rush 1000 cover the same ground in different dresses; this one is the version where everything pays in dice.
Base Game & Features
There are no paylines. Any symbol pays in blocks of five or more when they’re connected horizontally or vertically on the 7×7 grid, and bigger clusters pay considerably more.
Because the connections only run orthogonally, the shape of a block doesn’t matter so long as every symbol in it touches the next along an edge. An L-shaped run of five counts the same as a straight row of five. Diagonals don’t connect.
Tumble Feature
Every winning spin sets off a tumble. Winning symbols are paid and removed, everything left falls to the bottom, and new symbols drop in from above to fill the gaps. If the new arrangement makes another cluster, it pays and tumbles again.
The sequence only stops when no new winning combination forms. One spin can therefore chain several payouts, and each link in that chain is another chance for a spot to be hit twice, which is where the multipliers come from.
Multiplier Spots
The grid remembers where symbols have exploded. When a symbol explodes on a spot for the second time, that spot is marked with a multiplier starting at x2, and it doubles with each subsequent explosion on the same spot, up to x128.
The climb runs x2, x4, x8, x16, x32, x64, x128, so a spot needs seven explosions before it tops out. Any winning combination that lands on top of a marked spot has the multiplier applied, and where several marked spots are involved in the same combination, the multipliers add together rather than multiplying.
In the base game the marks last only until the tumbling sequence ends, then the grid clears. Everything that made a spin interesting is wiped with it, which is the difference between the base game and the feature round.
Paying Symbols
Seven symbols share the grid: four dice in pink, green, blue and red, an orange bear, a purple bear, and a teal candy drop. Cluster values as a multiple of the stake, by cluster size:
- Pink Dice (star pips) – 5: 1x, 6: 1.5x, 7: 1.75x, 8: 2x, 9: 2.5x, 10: 5x, 11: 7.5x, 12: 15x, 13: 35x, 14: 70x, 15+: 150x
- Orange Bear – 5: 0.75x, 6: 1x, 7: 1x, 8: 1.5x, 9: 2x, 10: 4x, 11: 6x, 12: 12.5x, 13: 30x, 14: 60x, 15+: 100x
- Green Dice – 5: 0.5x, 6: 0.75x, 7: 1x, 8: 1.25x, 9: 1.5x, 10: 3x, 11: 4.5x, 12: 10x, 13: 20x, 14: 40x, 15+: 60x
- Purple Bear – 5: 0.4x, 6: 0.5x, 7: 0.75x, 8: 1x, 9: 1.25x, 10: 2x, 11: 3x, 12: 5x, 13: 10x, 14: 20x, 15+: 40x
- Blue Dice – 5: 0.3x, 6: 0.4x, 7: 0.5x, 8: 0.75x, 9: 1x, 10: 1.5x, 11: 2.5x, 12: 3.5x, 13: 8x, 14: 15x, 15+: 30x
- Red Dice – 5: 0.25x, 6: 0.3x, 7: 0.4x, 8: 0.5x, 9: 0.75x, 10: 1.25x, 11: 2x, 12: 3x, 13: 6x, 14: 12x, 15+: 25x
- Teal Candy Drop – 5: 0.2x, 6: 0.25x, 7: 0.3x, 8: 0.4x, 9: 0.5x, 10: 1x, 11: 1.5x, 12: 2.5x, 13: 5x, 14: 10x, 15+: 20x
The pink die does the heavy lifting at the top of the ladder, and the candy drop props up the bottom. Between them, the bears and coloured dice step down in orderly increments, so the gap between a good cluster and a great one is wide.
Sugar Rush Dice Free Spins & Bonus Buys
3 or more scatter symbols anywhere on the grid trigger the free spins round, and the more of them there are, the more spins it pays:
- 3 scatters – 10 free spins
- 4 scatters – 12 free spins
- 5 scatters – 15 free spins
- 6 scatters – 20 free spins
- 7 scatters – 30 free spins
The round changes one rule, and it’s the rule that matters. Marked spots and their multipliers stay on the grid for the whole round instead of clearing after each tumble sequence, and they can keep climbing as symbols explode on them again.
That persistence is what the big rounds are built on. A spot that builds to x64 or x128 early keeps applying itself to every later cluster that lands on it, and multiple marked spots in one combination still add together. Special reels are in play during the feature.
Retriggers work the same way as the entry. 3 to 7 scatters landing during the round award another 10, 12, 15, 20 or 30 free spins on top of what’s left, so a long round can keep extending itself for as long as the scatters keep arriving.
Buy Free Spins
The round can also be bought outright for 100x the current total bet, which triggers the free spins immediately. A purchase can land 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 scatters at random, so buying doesn’t guarantee the top tier of the spin ladder; it guarantees the round.
There’s no maximum win figure for this one. The cluster ladder tops out at 150x for the biggest pink-die combination before multipliers, and the x128 spots stack on top of that.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Spinning this one feels like the candy shop you know with a different jar on every shelf, and the dice turn out to be the jar worth reaching for. Nobody needs a second Sugar Rush on principle, but this build earns its shelf space on the strength of its round, where a marked spot built early keeps paying every cluster that lands on it for the rest of the feature.
That persistence is the best thing here, and it’s what makes the big rounds genuinely big. The worst is the base game’s amnesia: the marks vanish after every tumble sequence, so the long stretches between scatters build nothing.
It’s for cluster players who enjoy a patient build and already like how this engine plays; anyone chasing constant action between features will find the middle stretches thin. For the rest, the pastel grid is an easy place to linger.
