Sweet Hold & Win Slot Review
A chocolate slab floats above pastel hills, its frame a braided candy cane rope studded with loose gumballs, and the pink bubble-lettered logo above the reels doesn’t understate anything. All that sugar is surface. Underneath, Automat has built one of the plainest coin-collectors going: the decoration is doing almost all of the work, and the game beneath it is spare to the point of austere.
It’s a 5×3 grid with 10 fixed paylines, running at 95.13% RTP with a 5,000x top prize and stakes from 0.10 to 50.00 per spin. For a game this sweet, the maths is surprisingly restrained.
Base Game & Features
Symbols & Paytable
The paytable is short and top-heavy. The wrapped chocolate dominates it, and everything below the cupcake drops off quickly. Values below are quoted at a stake of 5.00, and the paytable is dynamic, so every figure scales with whatever stake is set:
- Wrapped chocolate: 25.00 for three, 50.00 for four, 500.00 for five
- Cupcake: 20.00 / 37.50 / 100.00
- Red drop and cookie: 12.50 / 30.00 / 62.50
- Green diamond and orange star: 5.00 / 25.00 / 37.50
- Blue candy: 2.50 / 20.00
Wins pay left to right across the ten fixed paylines, only the highest combination counts on each line, and simultaneous wins on different lines add together. To work out a single win you count identical symbols in sequence from the leftmost reel; total wins are each payline added up.
There’s no wild in this game. The lollipop scatter pays anywhere on the reels, doesn’t need a payline, and can land on any of them. At the same 5.00 stake it returns 35.00 for three, 385.00 for four, and a chunky 3,885.00 for five. When several scatter prizes match up, only the highest is awarded. It appears in the base game only.
Hold & Win Coins
The coin symbol is the other special, present in both the base game and the feature. The numbers printed on it are multiples of the bet, and three of them carry jackpot labels. It’s also the trigger for the main event, covered in full below.
- Numeric coins: 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 10x and 15x the bet
- Mini: 25x the bet
- Major: 50x the bet
- Mega: 100x the bet
Stake Booster
Stake Booster is an optional toggle that raises the stake in exchange for a better chance of hitting the feature. It runs at its own return of 95.11%, a shade under the game’s overall rate, so the boost costs a fraction of a percent rather than buying anything for free.
Sweet Hold & Win Bonus Features
Hold & Win Feature
Landing five or more coin symbols sets the feature off. Everything normal vanishes from the reels, the triggering coins stay locked where they landed, and the rest of the grid is replaced with special reels containing nothing but coins and blanks.
You start with three Hold & Win spins. Any coin that hits during a spin sticks until the round ends, and each time at least one lands, the spin counter resets to three. Blanks do nothing. Once the counter finally reaches zero without a new coin, the round is over.
At that point every value left on the grid is summed and paid out as a single total, so a board of mixed coins can still stack into a serious number without the top prize ever landing. Filling all fifteen positions ends the round immediately and pays the Ultra prize, worth 5,000x the stake and the biggest number the game can produce. It’s the classic version of the mechanic: patient, mechanical, and capable of running long when the coins keep finding gaps to fill.
Card Gamble
After a base-game win, a card gamble becomes available. Four aces are shown, one in each suit, and you either bet on the colour for a double or the suit for a quadruple. Colour is a straight 50/50. Guess wrong and the round’s winnings are gone.
Two collection options soften it. The collect button banks the full amount at any time, and when half the winnings exceed the original stake, a half-collect button lets you bank half and gamble the rest. The row of four suits along the bottom keeps a running history of every card already turned.
Ladder Gamble
The alternative is a ladder with a prize shown at the top. You get three lives: each bet either moves you up a rung on a win or down on a loss, and each rung carries its own independent odds so the return stays fair. Run out of lives or reach the bottom rung and the winnings are lost. Collect is available at any point here too.
Neither gamble affects the game’s RTP, which is worth knowing: they’re pure variance on money you’ve already won, not a second way into the maths. All of it sits under a 5,000x overall cap that includes base-game wins.
Buy Feature
A buy feature button sits in the base-game UI. Selecting it opens a dialog describing the bonus features and allows their direct purchase, skipping the base game entirely and dropping you straight into a feature round. The feature itself runs at 95.29% return, marginally above the game’s overall rate.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.9/10
This is a game you spin waiting for coins and nothing else, and if that sentence doesn’t appeal, the candy cane frame won’t change your mind. The waiting itself is decent: the three-spin reset keeps every round alive right to the last blank, which is more tension than the sugary look promises.
The gambles are what earn the game its character. Two mini-games, both fair, both with a collect button, is real craft where most titles ship nothing at all. The weakness is the narrowness: everything funnels into one mechanic, the return sits just below the going rate, and the paytable behind the chocolate is thin enough that the base game rarely excites on its own terms.
It’s for the coin-collector faithful, low-stakes sessions, and anyone who enjoys a proper card flip after a small win. Anyone after layered bonuses or a paytable with depth won’t find it here. As a sugar rush with one good idea at the centre, it holds together.
