Tiger’s Ice Slot Review
A frozen ravine at dawn, glacier walls in blue shadow, the sky above the canyon gone peach and lavender. Tiger’s Ice parks all of its drama in that scenery and almost none of it in the base game: this is a slot that deliberately holds back, running lean until the bonus round turns one triggered spin into something you’ve built yourself.
Alchemy Gaming have built it on a 5×5 grid with 3,125 ways to win, running at 96.20% RTP with very high volatility and a 20,000x ceiling on total winnings per transaction. Stakes run from 0.30 to 21.00 per spin. It sits in familiar company for the studio, alongside 25000 Talons and Africa XUP. Underneath all that ice, there’s a single feature doing most of the work.
Base Game & Features
Wins pay left to right across the 3,125 ways, starting from the first reel, with each way’s payout based on the initial bet. That initial bet is the total bet divided by a way cost of 30. Only the highest winning combination counts per symbol combination.
If multiple wins land on a single way, only the best one pays, and the total payout is the sum of all way wins and scatter wins from a spin. A way is simply a pattern of adjacent positions running across the reels; matching symbols landing in that pattern get paid.
Wilds substitute for everything except scatters and can form their own winning combinations when they land in a way. Scatters pay nothing themselves; three or more anywhere on the base game reels trigger the bonus, and they aren’t removed during Rolling Reels.
Rolling Reels
After any win, all winning symbols are removed and the remaining symbols drop down, with new symbols rolling in from above. If that forms new wins, the process repeats. It keeps going until no winning combinations remain.
It’s active in both the base game and free spins, and scatters stay put throughout. In free spins only, the feature also drives a Multiplier Trail; more on that below. Hit frequency sits at 32.02% of spins.
Echo Roll
Echo Roll can trigger randomly after any preceding win, in the base game or free spins. It fills every empty position on the reels with one randomly selected symbol, guaranteeing a win. It never awards scatters, and the filled positions can hold high, low or wild symbols.
The collection animation around it is pure show; it doesn’t influence what’s awarded. Echo Roll modifiers won from the Bonus Wheel, or bought in the Upsizer, are removed once free spins ends.
Tiger’s Ice Bonus Wheel & Free Spins
Landing three scatters in the base game brings up the Bonus Wheel, and it has to be spun before free spins can start. The spin costs nothing and happens once per trigger. When the wheel stops, the winning segment hands you a feature modifier for the round ahead.
The Bonus Wheel Prizes
The wheel awards one of the following modifiers, sometimes in combination:
- 2 additional starting free spins
- 4 additional starting free spins
- Multiplier Trail increases in increments of 2
- Multiplier Trail increases in increments of 3
- Echo Roll no longer awards low symbols
- Echo Roll only awards wilds
- 2 additional free spins plus Multiplier Trail increments of 2
- 2 additional free spins plus low symbols removed from Echo Roll
- Multiplier Trail increments of 2 plus low symbols removed from Echo Roll
- 4 additional free spins, Multiplier Trail increments of 3, and Echo Roll awarding wilds only
The Upsizer
Offered after the wheel, the Upsizer lets you buy extra feature modifiers before free spins begins, at costs calculated from your current bet. A confirmation prompt shows the details before any purchase goes through. What the wheel already awarded affects what’s available to buy.
There’s a ceiling: the most additional starting free spins you can hold from the wheel and Upsizer combined is four. The Upsizer runs at 96.20% RTP, and it may be limited or unavailable at higher bets or in some regions.
Free Spins
Eight free spins get things started. Each base-game scatter beyond the three triggering ones adds two more, and triggering counts are evaluated at the end of any Rolling Reels rolls, so a cascade can grow the trigger. During the round, every scatter that lands adds one extra spin.
The Multiplier Trail carries the round. It starts at 1x and climbs by 1, 2 or 3 on every consecutive Rolling Reels trigger, is cumulative, and never resets for the whole round. The range is unlimited, so a long cascade chain keeps stacking value spin after spin. The feature can’t be re-triggered, and all modifiers reset when it ends.
Bets and ways stay the same as the triggering spin throughout, and the round plays out automatically. Wins are added to base game wins. If the 20,000x transaction limit is reached, the win is awarded and any remaining rolls or spins are forfeited, ending the feature.
Buy Feature
A Buy Bonus button in the base game purchases immediate access to the Bonus Wheel with eight starting free spins and the round that follows, at a cost displayed before you confirm. The Buy Feature runs at 96.20% RTP, matching the base game. It may be limited or unavailable at higher bet levels or in some regions.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
Playing Tiger’s Ice is a long walk through a very pretty canyon waiting for something to happen. The reason to choose it over its flashier stablemates is that when something does happen, you built it: the wheel, the Upsizer and the trail make each bonus round feel like your own construction rather than a handed-down prize.
The trail is the strength, and it’s a real one. Because it never resets, a round that gets going keeps getting worth more, and the ceiling is genuinely high. The weakness is everything before it. The base game has no multiplier of any kind, so it grinds, and with very high volatility the wait for three scatters is the game you actually play most of the time.
This is one for players who like a build and can sit through cold spells without flinching. Anyone who wants regular features or a base game that pays its way will be happier elsewhere in the studio’s catalogue. The canyon is worth the walk, but you’d best pack for the cold.
