Totem Tower Bonanza Slot Review
Carve a totem pole and every face on it is ranked, one sitting above the next all the way to the top. Totem Tower Bonanza moves that idea into a jungle clearing and paints its totems blue, green and purple, so you can read the stack at a glance.
The studio behind it is Backseat Gaming, who’ve assembled a sizeable catalogue of high volatility releases in a short space of time. This one runs on five reels and four rows with 16 fixed paylines, a Very High volatility rating and a ceiling of 10,000x your stake.
The build we played showed 96.01% RTP. Backseat also ship 94.01%, 92.01% and 90.01% configurations of the same game, so the number your casino has loaded is worth a look at the info screen before you start.
That Bonanza on the end is a studio habit rather than a licensed mechanic. Roman Bonanza wears it too, and Born in Hell sits in the same corner of the catalogue.
The nearest neighbour is arguably Pirate Bonanza 2. What separates this one is what’s hiding under a traditional-looking payline slot: a multiplier system with a good deal more bite than the layout lets on.
Base Game & Features
Totem Tower Bonanza is a fixed-payline slot in the old sense. Wins pay left to right across 16 lines and need at least three matching symbols on adjacent reels, so there’s no cluster or scatter-pays shortcut anywhere in it.
Hit frequency is 19.34%, which puts a paying spin somewhere under one in five. Each of the three bonus rounds has its own trigger symbol dropping into the base game, and three of a kind opens the relevant round.

Wild Totems
Wild Totems are the only symbol that really matters, and they arrive in three colours, each with its own multiplier band:
- Blue Totem: 2x to 4x
- Green Totem: 5x to 20x
- Purple Totem: 25x to 200x
An expanding Wild Totem fills its reel and applies that multiplier to any win running through it. Two rules then decide how the numbers behave, and they’re the reason the maths here isn’t a flat multiplier.
Land more than one Wild Totem on the same reel and their values multiply together before that reel expands. Separate expanded Wild Reels feeding the same winning line add together instead.
Totem Tower Bonanza Bonus Features
Three bonus rounds, 10 free spins apiece, separated by how much Wild Totem coverage you start with and how far it can climb from there.
Jungle Ritual
Three Wild Totem symbols in the base game trigger Jungle Ritual, and the round opens with sticky Wild Totems already sitting on the reels. These are individual Totems rather than full expanded reels.
They hold their positions for all 10 spins and apply their multiplier band whenever a win runs through them. It’s also the cheapest of the three rounds to buy outright.

Totem Rise
Three Super Bonus symbols trigger Totem Rise, again over 10 free spins. This round deals in expanding Wild Reels rather than single Totems, and once a reel expands it stays sticky for the remainder of the round.
Landing further Wild Totems on a sticky reel upgrades that reel’s multiplier, so a reel that opens on a Blue value can be a very different proposition by spin ten.

Wild Totem Bonanza
Three Legendary Bonus symbols trigger Wild Totem Bonanza, the third of the 10-spin rounds. It pairs expanding Wild Reels with the game’s top multiplier potential, and the multiply-then-add rules apply in full across the reels.

Special Spins
Special Spins are paid single spins that guarantee expanding Wild Totem coverage on reels 2, 3 and 4. The three tiers scale directly with the number of Totems promised:
- Special Spin 1: at least one guaranteed expanding Wild Totem
- Special Spin 2: at least two
- Special Spin 3: at least three
Which Totems land is still down to chance, so a guaranteed three can be three Blues as easily as anything else. Prices sit in the buy menu below.

Bonus Buy
Seven options sit on the buy menu, and all of them run at the same 96.01% RTP as the base game, so nothing here shifts the maths in either direction:
- Bonus Boost: 2x stake, improves your chances of landing a feature
- Special Spin 1: 20x stake
- Special Spin 2: 40x stake
- Special Spin 3: 80x stake
- Jungle Ritual: 100x stake
- Totem Rise: 200x stake
- Wild Totem Bonanza: 400x stake
Stakes themselves run from 0.20 to 100 per spin, and every buy is priced as a multiple of whatever spin bet you’ve set.

Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
The base game is dry work. Long stretches pass with very little happening, and it’s the prospect of a Purple Totem rather than any real rhythm that keeps you spinning through them.
Jungle Ritual was the weak one for us: steady, sticky from the first spin, and it never threatened to run away. Totem Rise is where it clicks, reels locking in and multipliers climbing on top of each other.
Wild Totem Bonanza is the round worth chasing, and the buy prices climb in roughly the order the entertainment does.
Our stand-out spin wasn’t a big one. Two Totems landed on the same reel, the multiplier jumped before the reel expanded, and a second Wild Reel then joined the same line. That’s the whole game in one spin.
Worth your time if you like sticky Wilds and progression you can watch happening; give it a miss if you need something going on between features. The 10,000x ceiling is modest by current standards.
It builds a decent tower. The top of it just isn’t as high up as the name promises.
