White Wizard Slot Review
A night sky crowded with oversized silver stars, a plank-brown reel frame with gold corner brackets, and a chrome-outlined logo arcing over the top like a fairground sign. White Wizard doesn’t really have a base game in the modern sense: nearly everything it pays flows through two symbols, and a draft-critical share of the paytable is window-earning decoration until one of them shows up. Eyecon built it that way on purpose, in the same mould as Fluffy Favourites and Enchanted Prince.
The claim in its favour is focus. A 5×4 grid, 25 fixed paylines, a tripling wild on three reels and one scatter-triggered bonus round, with an RTP of 94.941%. Nothing else. The prize ladder runs up to 6,000x the total bet at its top step, which is a higher ceiling than most of this format’s stablemates ever print.
Base Game & Features
Five reels, four rows, 25 paylines, all paying left to right. Line wins are multiplied by the wager per payline, wins on separate paylines add together, and only the highest combination counts on each line. Nothing here reshuffles the grid, removes symbols or collects anything: a spin lands, the lines pay or they don’t, and the next one starts.
The paytable is the game’s real content, and it’s built on a steep ladder. Symbol values are multiples of the total bet:
- Cauldron/Potion: 4x for two, 60x for three, 600x for four, 6,000x for five
- Treasure Chest/Book: 4x for two, 40x for three, 400x for four, 4,000x for five
- Unicorn or Diamond: 4x for two, 20x for three, 200x for four, 2,000x for five
- A or K: 10x for three, 100x for four, 1,000x for five
- Q or J: 10x for three, 40x for four, 400x for five
- 10 or 9: 6x for three, 20x for four, 200x for five
Notice the shape of that ladder. The two top tiers tower over everything below them, and the drop from the premium pictures to the royals is severe: three Aces or Kings returns half of what three Unicorns pays. Most base-game spins therefore land in the narrow band at the bottom, with the expensive symbols doing their work almost exclusively through the wild.
Only the four picture symbols pay for two-of-a-kind at all, and even then it’s a token 4x of the total bet. The royals need a full three to return anything, starting at 6x for the nines and tens. There’s no middle ground in the table: each step roughly doubles or triples the one beneath it, and the top of the ladder sits over a thousand times above the bottom.
The Dragon Scatter
The scattered Dragon is the one symbol that ignores paylines entirely. It pays in any position, its wins are multiplied by the total wager rather than the line bet, and where multiple scatter combinations land on the same spin only the highest is added to the line wins. Its own ladder runs:
- 2 scattered Dragons: 4x the total bet
- 3 scattered Dragons: 10x the total bet
- 4 scattered Dragons: 30x the total bet
- 5 scattered Dragons: 600x the total bet
Two Dragons is enough for a small return. That top scatter step is quietly one of the game’s better numbers, and it arrives on a symbol that also opens the bonus round.
The Wizard Wild
The Wizard himself stands in for every symbol except the Dragon, and he only shows up on the first, third and fifth reels. Any line win he helps complete pays three times over. That multiplier is the base game’s whole engine: because he can’t appear on the even reels, a full payline of premium symbols isn’t possible with him involved, but every win he touches is boosted enough to matter.
Put the wild together with the scatter and the base game’s arithmetic becomes clear. A tripling substitution on reel three turning a pair of Unicorns into a paying line is where the routine money comes from, while the Dragon ladder handles the rest. Autoplay is on hand for the grind, with a loss limit that can be set before a session starts and stopped manually at any point.
White Wizard Free Spins & Bonus Features
The Dragon scatter is also the route into the bonus round. Land three or more anywhere on the grid and the Free Games begin:
- 3 scattered Dragons: 15 Free Games
- 4 scattered Dragons: 20 Free Games
- 5 scattered Dragons: 25 Free Games
Inside the round, the rules shift in one important way: Wizard symbols expand to cover every position on their reel as line wins are displayed. Since he’s still confined to reels one, three and five, a fortunate spin can fill all three of those reels with wilds at once, each substitution still tripling the win it completes. That stacking, three expanded wilds on a 5×4 grid, is how the game’s biggest results are built.
It works step by step like this. A Wizard lands on an outer reel during a win, stretches to fill all four positions of that reel, and every position then counts as a wild for each of the 25 lines passing through it. If a second or third Wizard lands on the same spin, they expand in turn, and any line running through two expanded Wizards stacks one tripled substitution on another. The paylines and wager of the triggering spin carry over unchanged, so there’s no separate stake and no reduced prize table inside the round.
Retriggers work too, and generously: more scattered Dragons during the round restart it, up to a ceiling of 15 retriggered rounds in total. A long run of Dragons can therefore keep the feature alive far beyond its original award, and the expanded reels come along with every restart.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Playing White Wizard is mostly a waiting game under that starry sky, and the reason to choose it is simple: it’s one of the few games of this vintage that still pays properly when the waiting ends. The Free Games round is the strength, and not by a little. Expanded, tripling wilds on three reels plus 15 retriggered rounds gives it more genuine firepower than plenty of newer games manage with five features.
The weakness is everything outside that round. A return of 94.941% and a paytable where the royals barely register means long, quiet stretches between Dragons.
It suits players who like one big bonus and don’t need decoration between triggers, especially anyone with a soft spot for Eyecon’s older catalogue. Players who want layered mechanics and constant action will find the stars here shine for someone else.
