Wild Koi is a patient game, and you’d have to be a patient player to get on with it. Most sessions are quiet spins over quiet water, with the tripled wild keeping things just interesting enough while you wait for the red koi to show up. That waiting is the whole reason to choose it: the Free Games round, with wilds expanding across three reels and a retrigger cap that runs to 15, is a better round than this pond has any right to hide.

The return is the problem. 94.940% is a below-par figure by today’s standards, and no amount of glowing lanterns dresses that up.

This one suits players who like their slots simple and their bonus rounds generous, and who don’t mind feeding the pond for a while to get there. Anyone after modern pacing or a dozen features will find the water too still. For the right player, though, it’s a handsome, honest little garden, and the koi are worth the wait.
