Zeus Riches Megaways Slot Review
A bearded Zeus in white robes and a laurel crown stands guard over a clifftop terrace above a sunlit Aegean bay, lightning bolt crackling in his fist and sparks spilling down the side of the reels. Strip away the mythology, though, and ThunderSpin have built a game where the wilds carry much of the weight. It’s a build that puts a lot of weight on one modifier, and it works more often than it should.
Zeus Riches Megaways runs on a 6×7 grid with variable rows: vertical reels one and six hold up to seven symbols, the middle four up to six, which opens 117,649 ways to win. The RTP is 96.1%. Behind Zeus, a whitewashed hillside town and a marble temple sit under a fluffy blue sky, all rendered in glossy cartoon-realism and bright daylight colours.
Base Game & Features
Wins pay through the ways system rather than fixed lines. Matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left form a win, and only the highest combination per way counts. The row count changes from spin to spin, so the number of ways on any given spin depends on how the grid lands: a full board is the 117,649 maximum, a sparse one is far less.
That’s the whole mechanic. Everything else in the base game is built around two modifiers, the Avalanche and the wild, and they feed each other in a way that gives the base game more to do than most ways-to-win slots.
The Avalanche
Every winning combination of regular symbols disappears from the reels. Symbols from the top drop into the empty space, new symbols fill the gaps, and the reels are evaluated again. The sequence repeats for as long as new wins keep forming, so one spin can chain several payouts without another stake being placed.
The drops are quick, and the chain is where the base game’s real potential sits. A modest opening win can grow two or three steps down the chain as fresh symbols settle into the gaps, and the round only ends when the grid comes to rest with no combination in place.
Wilds and the Spreading Wild
The wild substitutes for any symbol except the scatter. That’s the plain version. The interesting one is the Spreading Wild: each wild that lands creates an additional two to four wilds in random positions on the reels, and it activates in both the main game and free spins.
One wild becoming up to five is a serious swing on a grid with this many ways to win. Because the new wilds land in random positions rather than clustering, a single spread can bridge reels that had nothing going on and turn a dead spin into a chain.
There’s a second-order effect worth knowing about. Because the spread happens wherever a wild lands, an avalanche drop that delivers a wild partway through a chain can extend the chain itself: the fresh wilds settle into the newly emptied gaps, form wins of their own, and the drop sequence starts again from the top. A chain that looked finished isn’t always finished.

Zeus Riches Megaways Free Spins & Bonuses
Free Spins
Scatters trigger the free spins round, and the more you land, the better the package. Each tier carries a number of attempts, a spin count and a multiplier range:
- Six scatters: three attempts, 15-30 free spins, x7-x10 multiplier
- Five scatters: two attempts, 10-20 free spins, x3-x7 multiplier
- Four scatters: one attempt, 5-17 free spins, x2-x5 multiplier
- Three scatters: one attempt, 5-11 free spins, x1-x3 multiplier
The attempts are the structure worth understanding. A single attempt means the round runs once with whatever the spin count lands on; at the six-scatter tier you get three attempts, so the round can be re-rolled twice before the feature ends. The spin count and multiplier within each tier’s range vary by attempt, which is where the top tier’s value lies.
The scatter is available only in the main game, so the round can’t retrigger from inside itself. The multipliers climb steeply at the top end: a six-scatter entry starts at x7 and reaches x10, and with the Spreading Wild active throughout the round, those multipliers have real material to work on.
Bonus Buy
A Buy Bonus button sits in the top-left of the play frame for anyone who’d rather skip the scatter chase. The tiers follow the same structure as the natural trigger, so what you’re buying is the attempt count, spin count and multiplier range of your chosen scatter tier rather than a different round.
In practice that means the choice is between the cheap tiers with one attempt and a modest multiplier, or the expensive ones with re-rolls and the x7-x10 range. The round you buy is the round you’d have triggered, which at least makes the pricing legible.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Most spins here are quiet, and then a wild lands and the whole terrace gets loud. That spread, multiplied across an avalanche that won’t stop dropping, is the one reason to pick this over the hundred other games set on Olympus, and when it hits properly it’s a better show than most of them manage.
The free spins tiers are the smartest thing in it: attempts give the round a second and third act, and the x7-x10 ceiling at six scatters is a real prize rather than decoration. The weakness is a theme so well worn that even this handsome artwork can’t make the bay feel new.
It’s for players who enjoy chains and modifiers more than symbol hunting, and who don’t mind a quiet spell while waiting for the wilds to arrive. Anyone after steady, frequent small wins won’t find them here. For the patient ones, Zeus has earned his spot on that clifftop.
