Wild Hogs Slot Review

Get ready to hit the road and feel the thunderous roar of the engine in Wild Hogs by Stakelogic!

Wild Hogs looks to be an adrenaline-filled thrill ride with a gang of bikers that make the Hell’s Angels look tame, but will the gameplay match the theme’s rock’n’roll persona? Wild Hogs looks to set the reels ablaze as it rides full throttle into the limelight.

Stakelogic are known for their broad array of themes, and they pull each of them off quite convincingly. Wild Hogs as menacing as you’d like, and in this review we’ll get to see it in action.

Wild Hogs Base Game

Wild Hogs Base Game and Features

Wild Hogs is a 6-reel Video Slot with up to 46,656 ways to win. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbol type lands from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.

Wild Hogs can be played from as little as £.€0.20 per spin, up to a maximum bet of £.€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. Wild Hogs has a theoretical RTP of 96.01% and a max win cap of 5,000x.

The Red Hog symbol has the highest-paying value, followed by Purple, Blue, and Green Hogs, and Red, Purple, Blue, and Green Skulls. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, and Jack. Wilds appear on reels 2. 3. 4, 5, and 6, substituting for all other symbols except Scatters.

Each time a winning combination forms, all winning symbols are taken from the reels, making room for new symbols to drop down from above via a Cascade Feature. This continues until no more wins are formed.

Wild Modifiers

During gameplay, a special Wild Hog symbol can land at random on the reels. The Wild Hog General will create up to 5 random Wild Multipliers between x2 and x5, but will never add a Wild on the first reel.

The Wild Hog Lieutenant can ride across the reels and destroy a number of random reel symbols, replacing them with up to x3 Expanding Wilds, but will never add a Wild on the first reel.

The Wild Hog Sergeant will throw Mines at the reels, transforming reels into fully Expanded Wilds, but will never add a Wild on the first reel.

Wild Hogs Bonus Wheel

Wild Hogs Free Spins

Landing 3 Bonus Scatters on reels 2, 3, 4, and 5 in the base game triggers the Bonus Wheel. Alternatively, landing 4 Bonus Scatters will trigger the Super Bonus Wheel.

Once active, you will receive 1 Spin on the Bonus Wheel where you are guaranteed to win either Free Spins, the Trail Bonus, or the Super Trail Bonus. The Super Bonus Wheel has a better chance of awarding the Super Trail Bonus or Free Spins with higher values.

The Free Spins round can only be triggered via the Bonus Wheel, awarding between 6 and 15 Free Spins. During Free Spins, if 3 or 4 Scatters land in view, you will receive another spin on the Bonus Wheel.

Bonus Trail

When the Bonus Trail is triggered, you will start off with 3 Lives at the start of a special trail. During this time, you will move around the game board, collecting Multipliers. Watch out for standard and golden Mini Reels!

As you make your way around the game board, you will lose a life if the Mini Reel shows an X, or if you land on the same trail position twice. Each new position on the game board adds to a Multiplier Bank that is awarded at the end of the round, or when all 3 Lives are lost.

Landing on a Mystery position will trigger the Golden Reel to spin. If the Golden Reel results in 3 Hearts, it will restore +1 Life. Three hearts are unable to land if all lives are currently active.

When the Golden Reel reveals 3 Golden Hand Grenades, 3 random positions on the game board will have their values increased by x2-x100. If you are playing the Super Bonus Trail and the Hand Grenade Bonus is awarded, the value will be persistently added to 3 random positions at the start of each move.

If 3 Golden Hog symbols are revealed by the Golden Reel, the entire game board will reset, removing all marked-for-death trail positions. Lastly, if 3 Treasure Chest symbols are revealed, a large Multiplier will be paid instantly. This will begin at x10 but cannot exceed x500.

During the Super Bonus Trail, the Treasure Chest symbol feature is persistent. Whatever value was awarded first will be repeated for each game round.

Wild Hogs: Our Verdict

Taking a leaf out of Relax Gaming’s book, Stakelogic’s own take on a Bonus Trail is not quite as glamorous as Dead Rider’s Trail or Dead Man’s Trail, but it’s a definite step in the right direction.

Dead Rider’s Trail, in particular, must have had a long-lasting impression on Stakelogic considering the strong similarities in gameplay as well as the biker theme, only this time we’re dealing with tattooed hogs instead of regular folk.

There’s plenty of action going on in the base game in the form of Wild Modifiers. Wild Hog General, Lieutenant, and Sergeant can randomly take to the reels and deliver their own Modifiers, ranging from Multiplier Wilds to Expanding Wilds, yet during testing, we didn’t see many of these features.

When 3 or more Scatters land on the reels, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve bagged yourselves Free Spins. Instead, you’re met with a Bonus Wheel with a number of Free Spins, the Bonus Trail, and the Super Bonus Trail. The Free Spins round is good, but it’s the Bonus Trail and Super Bonus Trail you really want to be aiming for.

Just like Dead Rider’s Trail, Stakelogic has thrown in special Hot Spots marked with a question mark in the Bonus Trail. As you make your way around the board, you will lose and gain lives, cash in on Multiplier values, and take part in the Golden Mini Reel. The only difference between the Bonus Trail and Super Bonus Trail is that the Golden Mini Reel (once active) will persistently award the first value revealed with each move you make.

All in all, Wild Hogs doesn’t top the likes of Dead Man’s Trail or Dead Rider’s Trail, but it does well to stand out on its own!
