The CollectR mechanic has become a favourite since it first came to light in Pirots, allowing wins to be collected by their respective character of the same colour when adjacent.

Knight Fight is a highly volatile 6×6 Grid Slot that can expand to 8 rows. Players can spin the reels for a minimum bet size of £.€0.20 per spin, up to a maximum bet limit of £.€100 per spin. Knight Fight has a theoretical RTP of 94% and a generous max win cap worth 10,000x your bet. 

Lacking in pay lines, Knight Fight uses a Cluster Pays mechanic to achieve wins, The CollectR function allows Red, Blue, Purple, and Green Knights to collect matching clusters in a single spin, so long as they are adjacent. Wild symbols replace all paytable symbols except Scatters and special symbols.

Winning clusters are removed from the grid, creating additional space for new symbols to drop via an Avalanche Feature. This continues until no more winning Clusters or special symbols can be collected by Knights.

Symbol Collection Meter

The Symbol Collection meter keeps track of the number of collected Paytable and Wild symbols. The collection meter will continue to collect symbols until each Knight can no longer collect winning symbols.

Once the meter is filled, 1 pending feature is released, up to a maximum of 3 in a single spin. All symbols related to pending features are awarded simultaneously, released before special symbols react or when Knights are full and can no longer collect.

Feature symbols transform other symbols into additional Feature symbols from the following:

  • Coins: Reveal a value that is awarded upon collection. The Max Win coin awards the remaining amount needed to reach the max win of 10,000x your bet.
  • Transform: Transforms a cluster of symbols adjacent to a Knight into the same colour. It may also transform regular symbols into Feature symbols.
  • Golden Apple: Places apples in empty grid positions. Knights can also cross empty positions in order to reach more beneficial symbols.
  • Upgrade: Enhances the payout ability of regular symbols of the same colour as the collecting Knight by a maximum of 3 Levels.
  • Dragon Egg: When a Knight collects a Dragon Egg, the grid expands to 8×8 in size. As a result, Knights and all other symbols except feature symbols are removed, triggering an Avalanche.
  • Goat: Becomes evil when no more clusters can be collected. The collecting Knight then disappears from the grid and reappears in a new position.

In addition, Knights can also perform a ‘Switcheroo‘ which causes a group of Knights that find themselves together to swap positions in order to collect additional symbols as part of a winning cluster. Once active, a fight will ensue between them.

Our Verdict

Knight Fight has a lot to live up to considering it runs on the same CollectR mechanic that Pirots and Damn Beavers do. Our first experience was exactly how we envisioned it to be, entertaining, immersive, and promising.

ELK Studios’ innovative CollectR mechanic started off as a ‘one-hit-wonder’ in Pirots and has since become a star function in several releases. The problem is not with the mechanic itself, but rather the lack of fine-tuning ELK Studios has thrown into each release. (Pirots 3 being the exception)

Just like previous CollectR titles, Knight Fight delivers the same regurgitated Feature abilities. There’s nothing wrong with such features, it’s just that they’ve lost their appeal slightly. Besides the theme, there is nothing that definitively separates previous CollectR titles from this one.
