Darkness Slot Review 2024

Darkness from Print Studios takes everybody by surprise with a shockingly horrific game that makes some of Nolimit City’s titles look like Fluffy Favourites.

Darkness is a chilling and spine-tingling journey into the heart of satanism, where the darkest corners of Print Studios’ imagination are brought to life in a gripping and terrifying experience. Those who dare to load up Darkness should be prepared to confront their deepest fears where reality and nightmare blur.

From the very moment you load it up, you’re beckoned into a depraved abyss with an overwhelming sense of wickedness, gloom, hopelessness and corruption. The macabre world created here holds no light, no hope and no salvation, yet we find ourselves obsessively gripped as we test our resolve in the face of ultimate horror.

Darkness certainly isn’t for the faint of heart, and terror awaits at every turn. When you first load up Darkness, you’re greeted with a screen that instructs the player to set the brightness. This is commonly used in Video Games, which Print Studios are very familiar with. We’re guilty of turning that brightness up to the max in games like Resident Evil, but for the sake of experiencing Darkness in all it’s glory, we’ll play how it was meant to be played.

Feature Bet

Where permitted, players will be able to activate a Scatter Boost feature located in the Feature Bet panel. Choosing to activate this feature will increase your current bet by 50%.

Once active, more Scatters will appear on the reels, meaning that your chances of triggering Dark Ritual Free Spins are naturally higher. (RTP 96.40%)

SuperSpinners

Situated between each reel are a total of 14 SuperSpinners in a 3-4-3-4 formation. Each time a winning combination passes through an active SuperSpinner, its win value will be multiplied by the value shown on the SuperSpinner. The values of each SuperSpinner differ with each spin.

Giant Symbol Feature

During gameplay, Giant Symbols can land at random on any spin, starting from size 3×2 up to 5×4. Positions that are covered by a Giant symbol count as individual instances of the symbol indicated.

Darkness Free Spins Lucifer Wild

Darkness: Dark Ritual Free Spins

Landing 3, 4, or 5 Pentagram Scatters during the base game triggers the Dark Ritual Free Spins round, awarding 10, 12, and 14 Free Spins respectively.

During the Dark Ritual Bonus, Dirge Wilds that land on the point positions of the Pentagram will lock into place until 5 Wilds have landed on all Pentagram Points or the Bonus ends.

Landing Dirge Wilds on all 5 Petagram Points will summon Lucifer, turning reels 2, 3, and 4 into Wilds for the remainder of the round.

Darkness - Dark Ritual Free Spins

Darkness Bonus Buy

Those outside the UK will benefit from a Bonus Buy option. Print Studios has granted players access to the Dark Ritual Free Spins round for a total cost of 100x your bet. This can be found in the Feature Bet option above the bet selector. (RTP 96.79%)

Darkness: Our Verdict

Darkness was a daring step into the world of horror from Print Studios, and a thoroughly impressive step at that. Print Studios are admirable in how they know certain game mechanics, themes and innovative features won’t appeal to all, but they do it anyway. There is a real sense of pride in their work, and it shows quite evidently through their brilliant creations. The only time Print Studios touched something generic was in their first release, Book of Destiny, and even that had admirable imagination.

Darkness absolutely stunned us with its horrific demeanour, but it gripped us with its excellent gameplay and impressive potential. We didn’t think we’d see the coveted SupperSpinners in such a depraved setting, but it’s here, and it performs well yet again. Free Spins is even better where the opportunity to summon Lucifer presents itself. To do so requires Dirge Wilds on all of the Pentagram Points, and when it happens it’s exciting indeed.

At full steam, Darkness is capable of up to 20,000x the bet. It’s ample enough to afford the therapy that you’ll need to sleep again after playing this slot, and enticing enough to warrant playing it even if you are scared to death.

Overall, we dare say that Darkness is visually the best horror game out there. It’s an accolade that we didn’t think we’d be giving to Print Studios, but they’ve earned it.
