Devil’s Crossroad Slot Review

Make a deal with the devil in Nolimit City’s latest slot and their first release of 2024, Devil’s Crossroad! Devil’s Crossroads is a tale of greed where those who seek fame and fortune would make a deal with Satan himself to make it.

Will signing on the dotted line take the greedy beyond the reach of redemption? or is the Devil’s contract absolute? Gluttony, Wrath, Lust, Greed, Envy, and Pride cloud the judgements of those with selfish intentions, and the debt incurred may be more than they bargained for.

Nolimit City’s latest game looks to be a thrill ride, with all of the bells and whistles that you expect from a Nolimit City title. Nothing is done by half measures, and Devil’s Crossroad looks to be innovative, interesting, and very capable. With a plethora of features to experience, we’re tempted to make our own deal with the devil…

Devil's Crossroad Base Game

Devil’s Crossroad Base Game and Features

Nolimit City takes an innovative approach to their latest slot via their Crosslink Wins Mechanic. Devil’s Crossroad is a 4 cross-section video slot with 12 symbols. Forming wins requires a connection of symbols from each side, starting from the center. The payout value is equal to the length of the amount of symbols.

The divided cross-sections each contain 4 symbols that are connected in the middle by a Devil Wild. Winning combinations are removed, whilst all remaining symbols fall towards the center, making room for new symbols to fill empty symbol positions.

Devil’s Crossroad can be played for as little as £.€0.20 per spin, up to a maximum bet of £.€200 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. This game has a theoretical RTP of 96.06% and a max win cap of 13,180x.

The highest-paying symbol here is the Yellow Character, followed by the Red, Green, Blue, and Purple Characters. Low-paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and Ten. Wilds substitute for all other symbols except Scatters.

Cross Wilds

In gameplay, when a paying symbol falls next to the middle Devil Wild, it may randomly transform into a regular Wild symbol.

Cross Multipliers

When a win is formed, all instances of the same symbol will be removed from the other cross-sections if they are not part of a win. Each symbol that is removed this way will increase its Cross Multiplier by +x1. Wins are then multiplied by their respective cross-section Multiplier.

Scatters

Scatter symbols can appear in the center row or column of their cross-section. Landing a Scatter symbol next to the center position causes all remaining symbols in its cross-section to become inactive, removing symbols of the same type from the other cross-sections.

Once symbols are removed, they can no longer appear for the remaining Cascades. Each symbol removed in this way will increase its cross-section Multiplier by +x1.

Devil’s Crossroad: Redemption Free Spins

Landing 4 Scatter symbols in the base game will activate Redemption Free Spins, awarding 3 Respins. Each time a Coin lands in the reel area, the Respins will reset back to 3.

During Free Spins, when a column is filled with Coins, a special feature will be awarded for that column for the following spins. The feature will only affect Coin symbols in that particular column.

  • Gluttony – Adds its value to all Coin values.
  • Wrath – Multiplies the value of a randomly chosen Coin on its row/column.
  • Lust – Progresses you one step towards upgrading Redemption Free Spins.
  • Greed – Selects a random Coin from its row/column and collects all the values from its row/column respectively.
  • Envy – Transforms a randomly chosen Coin value into the highest current coin value on the entire reel area.
  • Pride – Selects a random Coin from its row/column and adds its total value to all other Coins in that row/column respectively.

Redemption Free Spins can be upgraded in 1 of 2 ways; either by collecting 4 Levels in the Upgrade Bar, or when all 4 Scatters land next to the center position in the main game.

The Upgrade Bar collects 1 Level for either each Lust Feature triggered or for each Scatter that lands next to the center position in the main game. The upgraded Redemption Free Spins round triggers a feature for its row, in addition to a column.

The Devil Coin is a special type of coin that can land during Redemption Free Spins only. Once in view, it will unlock a feature for its own column. If redemption spins are upgraded, the Devil Coin will also trigger a feature for its own row.

Debt to be Paid

When the max win cap of 13,180x is reached, the round will end and the full amount times your bet is awarded automatically.

Devil’s Crossroad: Our Verdict

Devil’s Crossroad proved to be typically diverse, displaying that trademark level of innovation that only Nolimit City can deliver. It’s easy to do the same thing over and over again as many have proven with releases that vary slightly from their other games, but Nolimit City never rest on their laurels, and each game seems to be a new adventure.

Devil’s Crossroad is one of those new adventures, but does entirely new equal brilliant? Not always. Even Nolimit City has missed the mark once or twice, but you can respect that they’ve at least tried something new, and sometimes even controversial. We don’t think Devil’s Crossroad misses the mark, but it isn’t their best.  It’s a harmonious balance of appeal and innovation gift-wrapped into 4 segments and another interesting insight into the inventive minds that make these games.

Nolimit City are behind some of the most revered games out there if you’re of the opinion that weird and wonderful is better than tried and true, and Devil’s Crossroad certainly is unconventional, but does it chime a chord like some of their very best? Not quite.  The maximum win of Devil’s Crossroad sits at 13,180x, which is rather tame by Nolimit standards, and some love their games for their mammoth potential above all else.

Overall, Devil’s Crossroad feels unsurprisingly impressive, but it’s not a headline act.
