Boom Farm

Boom Farm Slot Review

Peter & Sons have established a distinctive presence in the slot market through their signature art style and mechanically sound releases. Boom Farm, released in June 2025, showcases their approach to scatter pays design with a charming farm theme and an innovative box collection system. The game combines familiar mechanics–cascading reels and scatter triggers–with a three-tier box system that creates variable payout potential across gameplay. For players familiar with Peter & Sons’ previous titles like Out of the Ice and Huntress Wild Vengeance, this release continues their tradition of delivering polished, medium-volatility experiences.

The visual presentation here is distinctly Peter & Sons: high-quality cartoon animations featuring adorable farm characters and symbols that establish an immediately recognisable aesthetic. What sets Boom Farm apart from typical scatter pays releases is not groundbreaking innovation, but rather competent execution of mechanics that reward both exploration and strategic patience during free spins modes.

Base Game & Features

Boom Farm operates on a 6×6 grid using scatter pays mechanics rather than traditional paylines. Wins occur when 8-16 matching symbols land anywhere on the grid, creating a more expansive winning structure than conventional reel layouts. The scatter pays approach here removes payline restrictions, allowing clusters and scattered symbol combinations to generate wins across the entire playing area.

The Box Collection System

What distinguishes Boom Farm’s base gameplay is the three-tier box system. Each spin brings boxes onto the grid that can be collected through consecutive winning cascades. The boxes exist in three varieties, each requiring different hit thresholds to unlock:

• Wooden Boxes: Require 1 hit to unlock, awarding 0.1x to 1x your bet
• Silver Boxes: Require 2 hits to unlock, awarding 1x to 10x your bet
• Golden Boxes: Require 3 hits to unlock, awarding 10x to 5,000x your bet (the genuine prize tier)

Importantly, box patterns refresh on every spin. This means the grid resets with new box positions and values each time you spin, creating fresh opportunities to target specific high-value boxes. During base gameplay, you’re essentially working multiple angles–both generating standard scatter pays wins and simultaneously building toward box unlocks.

Special Symbols & Cascades

Two explosive symbols accelerate the box-building process. TNT Barrels apply +1 hit to every box currently on the grid during that spin, regardless of symbol matches. This transforms a standard spin into a meaningful box progression moment if TNT barrels land alongside existing boxes. The second acceleration comes via Star Bombs, which unlock all boxes on the grid instantly in a single event, awarding all corresponding cash prizes immediately.

The cascading reels mechanic removes winning symbols and drops new ones from above, creating consecutive win opportunities within a single spin. This cascade-into-boxes flow is where base gameplay allows genuine excitement–consecutive cascades mean multiple hits accumulating on boxes, pushing them toward unlock status without relying on free spins activation.

Boom Farm Free Spins & Bonus Features

Free spins represent the true opportunity engine in Boom Farm. Landing 4, 5, or 6 scatters anywhere on the 6×6 grid triggers 7, 9, or 12 free spins respectively. The distinguishing mechanic during free spins is that boxes persist between spins–they don’t reset with each new spin as they do in base gameplay. This persistence transforms free spins into a progressive collection experience where you’re working cumulatively toward unlocking boxes.

Each time you unlock all boxes currently on the grid during free spins, the game awards +1 additional spin. This retrigger mechanism means well-timed cascades and lucky TNT barrel placements can extend your free spins indefinitely–there’s no hard spin cap once you enter the feature. The volatility here comes from how readily you accumulate hits on remaining boxes before the feature concludes.

Bonus Buy & Golden Bet

Peter & Sons have implemented region-specific bonus purchase options. Players outside the UK can buy free spins directly: Standard Free Spins cost 80x your bet, granting 7 spins with all three box types (wooden, silver, golden). For those seeking higher volatility immediately, Boosted Free Spins cost 150x your bet, providing 7 spins with only silver and golden boxes–removing the low-value wooden tier entirely for a skewed reward distribution.

UK players face a different feature structure due to regulatory constraints. Rather than direct bonus buys, the Golden Bet costs 2x your stake and increases the odds of triggering Free Spins naturally during base gameplay. When activated, any free spins triggered whilst Golden Bet is active become Boosted variety automatically (silver and golden boxes only).

Our Honest Verdict

Boom Farm is a mechanically competent scatter pays release that leverages Peter & Sons’ visual design strengths whilst introducing a box collection system that feels fresh enough within their catalogue. The 96.5% RTP paired with mid-high volatility creates reasonable balance–you’re looking at genuine mid-tier volatility gameplay where the 5,000x maximum win cap sits comfortably for this format rather than breaking new ground.

What works here: the persistent box mechanic during free spins creates progressive engagement, TNT barrels and Star Bombs provide narrative moments beyond pure symbol mechanics, and the scatter pays system allows multiple winning angles per spin. The visuals are charming without feeling saccharine, and the farm theme integrates naturally with the explosion/destruction metaphor of the bonus system.

What holds it back: the box feature, whilst adding engagement, lacks the depth or unpredictability that could elevate it to truly memorable status. Players chasing innovative mechanics won’t find them here–this is solid execution of established scatter pays design, not reinvention.

Boom Farm suits players familiar with Peter & Sons’ mid-tier approach and those comfortable with scatter pays mechanics requiring patience during free spins progression. It won’t satisfy dedicated high-volatility chasers seeking massive multipliers or creative boundary-pushers seeking genuinely novel features. For the segment it targets–competent, visually polished, mechanically sound–it delivers. It’s not groundbreaking, but it doesn’t attempt to be. Rating: 7/10
