CherryPOP Blast Slot Review
Cherries the size of beach balls sit in bubbles at the water’s edge, a raspberry looms out of the pink mist behind the reels, and everything gleams like it’s been sugared. For all the candy-bright dressing, CherryPOP Blast barely cares what you hit: the paytable tops out at 15x, the symbols are almost decorative, and the payout lives in how long a win keeps running. AvatarUX have made their name on reels that grow mid-win, and this is their loudest take on it.
It runs on a 5×3 grid with 243 ways, high volatility and a 94% RTP. It sits in the same family as CherryPop, CherryPop Deluxe and CherryPop Burst. Whether the fizz is worth the below-par return is what follows.
Base Game & Features
Pop Wins
Pop Wins is the engine of the whole thing. Every winning symbol pops off the reels and is replaced by two symbols, growing that reel one row taller. If the new arrangement wins again, it pops again, and the reel keeps growing for as long as the wins keep coming.
Reels expand to six symbols tall in the base game. That growth is where the ways count comes from: the 243 ways of the resting 5×3 grid can climb well past six thousand during a good run of pops, and an active win can show as many as 6,480 ways on screen. When the pops stop, the grid resets to its resting size and the count drops back with it.
The reset is the part worth understanding. Everything a chain builds, the taller reels and the bigger ways count, disappears the moment the wins dry up, so each chain is a self-contained run rather than a permanent upgrade. A single spin either keeps popping or it doesn’t, and there’s no carry-over between them.
Random Multipliers
Multipliers can activate at random at the start of a spin or during a win, which means an ordinary spin can pick up a boost before anything has landed. The current value sits top-left of the reels, where it’s easy to keep an eye on.
How the multiplier behaves depends on where you are:
- Base game: starts at 2x and climbs by 1x every time the reels pop
- Feature spins: activates at the start of the round at a random 2x, 3x or 5x
Because the step is fixed, the multiplier’s size is purely a matter of chain length, and a longer run keeps counting upward with no stated limit beyond the growth of the reels themselves. The grid and the multiplier grow together, which is the whole design.
Paying Symbols
The paytable is fruit-first, with card symbols filling the bottom. Values are multiples of stake:
- Cherry: 4x, 7.5x, 15x for three, four, five
- Banana: 2x, 4x, 8x
- Watermelon: 1.5x, 3x, 6x
- Orange: 1.2x, 2.5x, 5x
- Grape: 1x, 2x, 4x
- Green Apple: 1x, 2x, 4x
- Plum: 0.8x, 1.2x, 2.5x
- Blueberry: 0.8x, 1.2x, 2.5x
- A, K, Q: 0.4x, 0.8x, 1.6x
- J, 10, 9: 0.2x, 0.6x, 1.2x
The cherry at the top is the only symbol that pays double figures, and the two mid-tier fruits share their values exactly, so Grape and Green Apple are interchangeable and Plum and Blueberry likewise. Even the best royal combination pays back less than the stake.
That tells you where the money is meant to come from: chains, multipliers and the bonus, not raw symbol hits. Wins land on roughly one spin in five, with a hit frequency of 20.78%.
CherryPOP Blast Bonus Features & Free Spins
The Cherrylicious Bonus
The bonus mode comes in three entry tiers, each buying into the same round with a different starting spin count:
- Cherrylicious Bonus opens with 5 free spins
- Cherrylicious Bonus Plus opens with 8 free spins
- Cherrylicious Bonus Max opens with 12 free spins
All three enter the same bonus mode, with higher chances of even bigger multipliers than the base game offers. The only difference between the tiers is the starting spin count, so the choice is simply how long a runway you want before the first win needs to land.
Free Spins Behaviour
Inside the bonus, reels can grow taller than the base game allows, up to nine symbols. Multipliers activate at the start of each round rather than waiting for a win to trigger them. That head start matters more than it sounds, because every pop after it pushes the value higher still.
Random Free Spins
During a win in the bonus game, the game can award extra free spins instead of an increased multiplier. The awards are +1, +2, +3 or +4 spins, so a single round can extend well past its starting count. A 5-spin Cherrylicious round that keeps hitting can quietly become something much longer.
The choice is out of your hands: when a win lands, the game either bumps the multiplier or adds spins, and which one you get is decided for you. Both outcomes help, but they point in different directions, one towards a bigger finish and one towards more chances to find it.
The Fortune Flip Wheels
At the end of the bonus game, the Fortune Flip Wheels offer a choice of three options:
- Take the bonus win as it stands and finish the round
- Gamble half the win on the Gamble Half Wheel, which can return 2x or 3x the bet, or nothing
- Gamble everything on the Gamble It All Wheel, which can return 3x or 10x the bet, or nothing
Only bonus game winnings can be gambled. Any base game winnings from the same spin are added after the gamble resolves, so they’re never at risk on the wheel.
Note the scale of what’s on offer: the wheels return multiples of the bet, not multiples of your bonus win, so a large bonus round can make gambling the lot a poor proposition in a way a small one doesn’t.
The game publishes a maximum win of 20,000x the stake. That’s the ceiling on potential, and the multiplier stack and the nine-tall reels are the route towards it.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.4/10
Play CherryPOP Blast for half an hour and you stop looking at the symbols entirely. One win in five lands, and the fun is watching what it turns into: the reels climb, the multiplier ticks up, and a modest afterthought can finish many times bigger if the pops keep coming. The random activation is the best thing here – the base game can pay like a bonus round without warning.
The weakness is the maths underneath the bubbles. A 94% RTP on a game this volatile takes a real bite over a session, and the Fortune Flip wheels look like a decision but the stakes are multiples of the bet, not of the win, so most of the time the smart move is the boring one.
This is one for players who already enjoy the Pop Wins family and want its fizziest, pinkest version, and for anyone who likes a base game that can surprise them. The maximum win of 20,000x the stake gives a clear ceiling to aim at, but players who want a gentler RTP have better options in the same studio’s catalogue. For the rest, the bubbles are worth the dip.
