Cosmic Drop

Cosmic Drop Slot Review

Cosmic Drop is one of the few cascade games where the paylines are worth watching more than the wins. A 6×4 grid floating in deep space, all coloured orbs and hexagons, sounds like decoration – but every cascade physically grows that grid, so the game you’re playing at spin’s end barely resembles the one it started as. In a market full of avalanche clones, this is the rare one that changes shape as it pays.

The game comes from SpinOn, a studio whose catalogue includes Aurora Storm, Zappin’ Zeus and Dr. Cranko’s Lab. The essentials: a 6×4 grid expandable to 8 rows, 4,096 ways to win at the base size, high volatility and a 94.0% RTP. The maximum win is capped at 10,000x the stake.

Base Game & Features

The base grid is 6 columns by 4 rows, paying on all possible ways for consecutive left-to-right symbol combinations starting from the leftmost reel. At 4 rows that’s 4,096 ways. The hit rate is 28.27%, so wins come often enough to keep the avalanches ticking over without ever feeling guaranteed.

Avalanche Feature

Any paytable win triggers an avalanche. Winning symbols explode and disappear, and the remaining symbols drop down and shift diagonally – left, then right – across the hexagonal neighbourhood structure to fill the empty cells. The grid is then rechecked for further wins, and the process repeats while the wins keep coming.

Each iteration of the cascade adds one additional row, up to a maximum of 8. The ways-to-win count climbs with every row that drops in:

• 4 rows: 4,096 ways to win
• 5 rows: 15,625 ways to win
• 6 rows: 46,656 ways to win
• 7 rows: 117,649 ways to win
• 8 rows: 262,144 ways to win

That final step is a big one: the jump from 7 to 8 rows more than doubles the ways. Once no further wins are found, a respin rebuilds the grid. If that respin produces a win, the avalanche continues; if it doesn’t, the round ends and the grid resets to its starting size.

Multipliers

Multiplier symbols can land on the grid during the initial spin or any cascade. When one reaches the first column or the bottom row, it’s replaced by a wild symbol, which stands in for any paying symbol to complete combinations. The multiplier’s value is collected into the Multiplier Counter at the same moment.

The available values are x2, x3, x5 and x10. The Counter stores the total of every multiplier collected during the cascade, with no upper limit, and wins are multiplied by the value current at that specific respin in the sequence. The counter resets when a new round starts, so the ceiling only ever applies within a single avalanche chain.

Cosmic Drop Bonus Features

Comet Spins

Comet Spins trigger at random. A comet strikes a randomly selected cell, leaving a wild at the impact point and releasing 3, 4, 5 or 6 particles that land on other random grid positions, each leaving a wild of its own.

The result is 4 to 7 wilds scattered across the grid. Cells holding an existing wild or multiplier symbol aren’t disturbed. Comets can appear during the initial spin or during cascades, so a mid-avalanche strike can land on a board that has already grown past its base size.

Solar Spins

Solar Spins guarantee a multiplier symbol in either the first column or the bottom row of the base spin. That placement matters: it’s exactly where a multiplier needs to be to convert into a wild and feed the Counter at the earliest opportunity.

Further multiplier symbols can still appear during the cascades that follow. The guarantee applies to the base spin only.

Cosmic Drop Feature

The game’s namesake feature guarantees that Comet Spins and Solar Spins fire in the same round. In the base spin, a multiplier symbol lands in the first column or bottom row first, then a comet strikes a random cell and scatters its wilds across whatever board exists at that moment.

Further multipliers and comet strikes can appear during the cascades, but the simultaneous trigger is guaranteed in the base spin only. It’s the round where everything the game does lines up at once: a converted multiplier, a spread of wilds, and an avalanche already underway.

SpinON+

The SpinON+ button lets you pay a premium on the total bet to raise or guarantee the modifier features. Press the button, select an option, then spin.

• 2x total bet: 50% increased chance of a Solar Spin on every spin
• 6x total bet: Solar Spin guaranteed on every spin
• 2x total bet: 50% increased chance of a Comet Spin on every spin
• 10x total bet: Comet Spin guaranteed on every spin
• 3x total bet: 50% increased chance of a Cosmic Drop on every spin
• 45x total bet: Cosmic Drop guaranteed on every spin

The pricing is steep at the guarantee end, and the wins may not cover the cost of the bet. At the chance-based end, the 2x and 3x options are the more affordable way to lean on the modifiers without committing half a feature’s cost up front.

Our Honest Verdict

Overall Rating: 7.1/10

This is a game you play for the rare round that runs away with itself: one win feeding a row, the row feeding more ways, a multiplier landing just where it converts, and the whole thing snowballing in the dark. When an avalanche gets going, there’s nothing else on the screen worth looking at. Most spins, though, nothing much happens at all.

The best thing here is that the modifiers all point at the same target – wilds, multipliers and the growing grid each make the others worth more, which is more design discipline than most cascade games manage. The worst is the price of admission: 94.0% is a poor return by any modern standard, and the win ceiling that all the ceiling-chasing is for sits at 10,000x the stake.

It suits players who enjoy watching a board grow and are happy to fund the quiet spins that make the loud ones possible. Anyone who wants steady small returns from a friendlier maths model will find the space here a bit too empty.

Cosmic Drop FAQs

• What is the RTP of Cosmic Drop?

The RTP is 94.0%. That’s the total expected return, and it sits below the 96% that’s become the common benchmark for online slots.
• What is the hit frequency of Cosmic Drop?

The hit frequency is 28.27%, so roughly one spin in three produces a win. Combined with the avalanche mechanic, a single win can chain into several.
• How many ways to win does Cosmic Drop have?

The base 6×4 grid offers 4,096 ways to win. Each cascade win adds a row, and the count climbs to 15,625 at 5 rows, 46,656 at 6, 117,649 at 7 and 262,144 at the full 8 rows.
• What are the betting limits on Cosmic Drop?

Stakes run from 0.20 to 50 per spin. The SpinON+ options multiply that total bet by 2x, 3x, 6x, 10x or 45x depending on the option chosen.
• How do the multipliers work in Cosmic Drop?

Multiplier symbols carry values of x2, x3, x5 or x10. When one reaches the first column or the bottom row it becomes a wild, and its value is added to the Multiplier Counter, which has no upper limit and applies to wins on that cascade before resetting for the next round.
• What does the Cosmic Drop feature do?

It guarantees that Comet Spins and Solar Spins trigger in the same round: a multiplier lands in the first column or bottom row, then a comet strikes the grid and scatters wilds. Both features can still appear separately at random.
• Can you buy the bonus on Cosmic Drop?

There’s no traditional bonus buy, but the SpinON+ menu comes close. For 2x to 10x your total bet you can boost or guarantee Solar Spins or Comet Spins, and for 45x the full Cosmic Drop feature is guaranteed on every spin.
• Who makes Cosmic Drop?

Cosmic Drop is made by SpinOn, the studio behind Aurora Storm, Zappin’ Zeus and Dr. Cranko’s Lab.
