Nautical Treasures

Nautical Treasures Slot Review

A green-tinged reef, seven rows deep, crowded with shells, crabs, jellyfish and one pink fish that out-pays everything else on the seabed. Nautical Treasures is one of the few cluster games where the base paytable barely matters and that’s fine, because the wins exist to charge a meter rather than to pay you – the real game only starts once the symbols stop matching.

It’s a SpinOn build, cut from similar cloth to Crab Chaos and Cosmic Drop, with Dr. Cranko’s Lab also in the studio’s catalogue. The numbers: 96% RTP, high volatility, a 57.14% hit rate, stakes from 0.20 to 160, and a ceiling of 3,100x the bet.

Base Game & Features

Nautical Treasures plays out on a 7×7 grid with no paylines. Wins form from five or more of the same symbol anywhere in view, paid by symbol count, and winning symbols clear away so new ones can drop in from above. Five of a kind is where every symbol starts paying. Fifteen or more is where the money actually is.

A wild symbol substitutes for all symbols, and the game has several ways of manufacturing them. The four reef creatures sit at the top of the paytable; the shells and corals beneath them pay fractions of your stake until clusters get very large indeed.

• Pink Fish: 1x for five, 2x for six, 3x for seven, 5x for eight, 8x for nine, 20x for ten, 50x for twelve, 750x for fifteen or more
• Turtle: 0.8x for five, 1x for six, 2x for seven, 3x for eight, 4x for nine, 10x for ten, 25x for twelve, 300x for fifteen or more
• Orange Crab: 0.6x for five, 0.8x for six, 1x for seven, 2x for eight, 3x for nine, 5x for ten, 15x for twelve, 150x for fifteen or more
• Seahorse: 0.5x for five, 0.7x for six, 1x for seven, 1.5x for eight, 2x for nine, 3x for ten, 5x for twelve, 75x for fifteen or more
• Shell and Starfish: 0.15x for five, 0.2x for six, 0.4x for seven, 0.6x for eight, 0.8x for nine, 1x for ten, 3x for twelve, 10x for fifteen or more
• Jellyfish and Coral: 0.1x for five, 0.15x for six, 0.2x for seven, 0.3x for eight, 0.6x for nine, 0.8x for ten, 1x for twelve, 3x for fifteen or more

Wild Pearl Feature

At the start of every spin, one random low symbol is marked as a Wild Pearl. If marked symbols take part in a win, they leave two wild symbols behind on the grid before the next cascade. It’s a small mercy for the low end of the paytable: the marked symbols pay their normal value, then turn into something more useful on the way out.

Big Fish Feature

When four instances of the same symbol land adjacent to each other in a square shape, they merge into one 2×2 Big symbol. The merged symbol carries a 2x multiplier, so any win containing it pays double. On a 7×7 grid, squares form more often than you’d expect, and a Big Fish sitting near a cluster of its own kind changes the arithmetic of that round completely.

Pearl Shift Feature

When a spin produces no win at all, there’s a chance that between four and eight wild symbols are added to the grid for another shot at forming one. It doesn’t rescue dead spins every time, but it means a blank board isn’t always the end of the round.

Seashell Evolution

This is the engine of the whole game. Every symbol that takes part in a win during a round charges the seashell meters, one at a time. After 25 winning symbols, a random Seashell Feature is added to a queue. Up to four can stack up, and charging a fifth time adds the Squid Rush Feature instead.

When the wins run out, the queued features trigger one after another, and the round only ends once every queued feature has fired and no winning combinations remain. The meters reset at the start of each round, so nothing carries over. A single round plays out like this:

1. The spin lands, and any winning clusters are paid and cleared
2. Each winning symbol adds one charge to the seashell meters
3. Every 25 charged symbols queues a Seashell Feature
4. When the wins stop, the queued features trigger in order, and any wins they create keep charging the meters
5. The round ends only when the queue is empty and no winning combinations remain

Nautical Treasures Bonus Features

Four Seashell Features can come off the queue, in whatever order they were added. Each one is a board-clearing or board-building move designed to restart the cascade, which in turn keeps charging the meters for whatever comes next.

Pearl Blast

Pearl Blast transforms three to six random symbols in view into wilds, then destroys all symbols adjacent to them. Straightforward and frequently decisive: half a dozen wilds in the middle of a 7×7 grid tend to find each other.

Tide Breaker

Tide Breaker destroys every low symbol in view. The shells, starfish, jellyfish and coral pay so little individually that removing them wholesale is almost always a gain, clearing space for the reef creatures and whatever cascades down to replace them.

Sea Surge

Sea Surge places a wild in the centre position and draws two intersecting diagonal lines through the grid, both showing the same random symbol. Two ready-made lines of a single symbol, crossed by a wild at the middle, is one of the more reliable ways this game sets up a big cluster.

Tidal Shift

Tidal Shift picks one random low symbol and converts every instance of it in view into another random symbol. If no low symbol is present, a high symbol gets picked instead. On a board already loaded with one species, the conversion can be enormous; it’s the least predictable of the four and occasionally the most generous.

Squid Rush

Filling all five meters triggers Squid Rush. A 3×3 Squid Wild lands in a random position, then moves and splits with each cascade: first into two 2×2 Squid Wilds, then into nine 1×1 Squid Wilds. New symbols cascade down and fill the grid before each move, and the Squid Wild substitutes for all symbols. It’s the payoff the entire meter system is built towards, and the only feature here that can blanket the board in wilds on its own.

Our Honest Verdict

Overall Rating: 7.7/10

Playing Nautical Treasures feels less like spinning and more like gathering. The reef is patient with you: hits come on more than half your spins, they’re mostly small, and the reason to keep going is watching a chain of them stack a queue of features that fires all at once. When it works, a single round runs long enough to feel like an event, the squid splitting across the board as the tide drains the whole thing of value.

That compounding round is the best thing here. The meters feeding features that feed more wins is a loop that earns its big moments. The paytable is the disappointment: the reef creatures pay well but the rest is crumbs, and the 3,100x ceiling is thin for a high-volatility build, so those big moments have a hard cap on how big they get.

It’s for players who enjoy the build itself, who’d rather earn a round than chase a headline payout, and there’s no shame in the rest of the reef swimming on. For the patient, the tide brings enough.
