Devils Hotfire Hold & Win Slot Review
A red devil grins out from the bottom-left corner of a gold-framed cabinet, trident in hand, horns tipped with flame and a gold coin on his belt buckle. Devils Hotfire Hold & Win is, on its own terms, an honest swindle: the fruit is priced like confetti and every real promise sits in the coins stacked behind the logo. The devil isn’t hiding that, and the game works better for it.
Under the fire, it’s a deliberately small machine. AceRun have built this one on a 3×3 grid with 5 paylines, low volatility, and stakes from 0.20 to 20 a spin. The RTP is 94.00%. What carries it is a collect-and-respin bonus round, a stripped-back take on the mechanic behind the studio’s Donkey Coins Hold & Win and Golden Donkey Xpand. Whether the devil’s small cabinet earns its heat is what follows.
Base Game & Features
Three reels, three rows, five lines. Wins pay left to right, and only the highest combination on a line counts. There isn’t much more to learn, and that’s by design rather than accident.
The symbols are classic fruit-machine stock, split into two pay tiers. Three of a kind is the only combination that pays anything, so every win looks the same on the reels: a full line of matching symbols.
- 777 – pays 4x the line bet for three of a kind
- BAR – pays 4x the line bet for three of a kind
- Strawberries – pays 4x the line bet for three of a kind
- Grapes – pays 4x the line bet for three of a kind
- Lemons – pays 2x the line bet for three of a kind
- Cherries – pays 2x the line bet for three of a kind
- Purple Grapes/Berries – pays 2x the line bet for three of a kind
- Oranges – pays 2x the line bet for three of a kind
At the top of the scale, a single three-of-a-kind returns four times the line stake. Spread across five lines, even a generous base spin is a modest sum, which tells you where the game’s real money is meant to come from: the bonus symbols, not the fruit.
Alongside the fruit sit the coins that make the round possible. Each carries a printed cash value on the symbol itself, and those values vary widely – a coin can show as much as 25x the bet. They don’t pay as regular line symbols; their entire job is to feed the bonus mechanics described below.
The Wild substitutes for all symbols except the Bonus symbols, and that’s its whole job – a useful stand-in on a three-reel grid where one symbol can decide a line. Because only the highest combination on each line counts, a wild that completes two overlapping lines still pays just once.
Devils Hotfire Hold & Win Bonus Game & Respins
The game’s one real idea sits behind the fruit. Coins and Bonus symbols carry cash values and Bonus Prizes, and the middle reel is where all of it wants to end up. Two linked mechanics make that work.
First, the Bonus Game itself. It fires once every reel holds at least one coin. From there, the round’s payout logic runs in one direction: whatever values or Bonus Prizes sit on the leftmost and rightmost reels get added to the value of every Bonus symbol on the middle reel. The outer reels feed the centre, so a single valuable symbol in the middle can be paid out several times over in one round.
Second, the Hold & Win respins that keep the round alive. The trigger is precise, and worth listing:
- Hit the collect symbol on the middle reel
- Land at least one coin on reel 1
- Land at least one coin on reel 3
- All three together award 3 respins
- The round plays at the same bet as the triggering spin
During the respins, two rules govern everything. Any Bonus symbol landing on the middle reel is held in place for the rest of the round, and every new Bonus symbol that lands anywhere resets the respin counter back to three. A round therefore only ends after three consecutive spins without a single new symbol.
A full round runs like this. The trigger lands and three respins begin. Held symbols stack up on the middle reel while the outer reels keep spinning; every coin that arrives on the sides is banked into the centre’s total, and every arrival anywhere buys three more spins. The counter ticks down only on empty spins, then the collected total pays out.
Put the two mechanics together and the shape of a good round becomes clear. Held symbols accumulate values from both outer reels on every pass, so a middle reel that fills late is worth far more than it looked at the start. The build is the whole attraction here, and on a grid this small, it can build quickly.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.4/10
Playing this is mostly waiting in a very warm waiting room: cheap fruit rolling past while you watch for coins. The reason you’d sit through it is the round itself, and the devil knows it – he’s leaning on the cabinet grinning about it. When the respins finally run, the reset counter and the outer reels feeding the middle give a short round a real arc. A centre that fills late pays like it means it.
That round is also the only thing being sold. The paytable is decoration, worth little between bonuses, and the maximum win is 6,030x the stake – the round pays what it collects, up to that ceiling. Low volatility keeps the wait gentle, but it also keeps the payoff small.
This one’s for players who want a short, repeated build and nothing to learn – a coffee-break collect game with a good mascot. Anyone who wants a base game that pulls its weight, or variety between features, will tire of the fire long before the devil does. For the rest, it’s an easy, modest little bargain, and the devil keeps it.
Devils Hotfire Hold & Win FAQs
-
What triggers the Bonus Game in Devils Hotfire Hold & Win?

How do the respins in Devils Hotfire Hold & Win work?
