5 Sevens Hold & Win Extra Bet Slot Review
A crimson wall with giant ghosted sevens embossed into it, gilt rails glowing like heated metal, and a band of real flame behind the jackpot plaques. 5 Sevens Hold & Win Extra Bet is the rare rerelease that fixes the actual problem: the original’s bonus was worth having and hard to reach, and this edition spends your money on reaching it rather than on dressing it up.
It comes from AceRun, whose hold-and-win line includes Donkey Coins Hold & Win and Devils Hotfire Hold & Win, and it follows on from the original 5 Sevens Hold and Win. The chassis is unchanged: a 5×4 grid, five paylines, medium-high volatility and a top prize of 1,432x the bet.
What’s new is control. The Extra Bet lowers the bonus trigger, and a Buy Bonus sells the round outright, so the waiting is now optional in a way it wasn’t before.
Base Game & Features
Five reels, four rows, five fixed paylines running left to right. That’s the entire chassis. Seven regular symbols pay when two or more of a kind line up on a winline, with only the highest combination on each line counting.
Wins are calculated the old way: count the identical symbols in sequence from the leftmost reel on each line, add every line together, and only one win counts per winline. All paytable values are multiples of the total bet, not the line bet. The full ladder:
- Seven: 20x for three, 200x for four, 1,000x for five
- Grapes / Strawberry: 10x, 40x, 100x
- Orange / Plum / Lemon: 4x, 10x, 40x
- Cherry: 1x for two, then 4x, 10x, 40x
The gold star scatter appears on all five reels and pays from any position, at 2x, 10x and 50x the bet for three, four and five. There’s no wild in this game at all; substitution isn’t part of the design.
Six of the seven symbols are small change. A stretch without bonus coins is a stretch of cherries and lemons, and the paytable makes no secret of it. Bets run from 0.20 to 100 per spin, with the Extra Bet doubling whatever stake you’ve set.
A Rapid button cycles the reels through normal, faster and turbo speeds, and autoplay is there if your operator allows it. That’s the whole control panel. Nothing here is complicated, and nothing pretends to be.
5 Sevens Hold & Win Extra Bet: Hold & Win Bonus, Extra Bet and Buy Bonus
Hold & Win Bonus Game
Six or more scattered Bonus coins and the bonus game begins. Three respins are granted, and every new coin that lands sticks in place and resets the count to three. Only Bonus symbols land during the round, so each respin is pure coin-or-nothing tension.
Each coin carries a value in currency, or one of the prize tiers. Possible values are 100, 50, 20, 15, 10, 5, 4, 3, 2 or 1 multiplied by the total bet, alongside the four jackpots:
- GRAND: 1,000x the bet
- MAJOR: 250x the bet
- MINOR: 50x the bet
- MINI: 20x the bet
Multiple prizes can land in the same round, so a MINI and a MAJOR can pay together. The feature runs until the respins run out or all 15 cells fill with coins, and when it closes, every value on screen is summed and paid.
Fill the entire grid and the GRAND is awarded on top, which is the 1,432x route in practice. It’s a long shot by construction, but it’s the ceiling the whole machine is built around.
Extra Bet
Switching the Extra Bet on doubles the total stake and buys a coin towards the trigger: the bonus starts at five coins instead of six. The chance of entering the feature goes up, and every prize and coin value stays exactly as it was at the original bet. Nothing about the round changes, only the door into it.
Buy Bonus
The Buy Bonus costs 100x the base bet, at your choice of stake, and buys the Hold & Win round directly. It comes with a twist the organic route doesn’t have: before the coins drop, multipliers of x2, x3 and x5 are spread across all 15 reel positions.
Where a coin lands, its value is multiplied by the factor on that cell. Coins carrying plain values are multiplied on landing; prize-tier coins are multiplied at the end of the round instead. Then six or more coins are placed and the feature plays out as normal, with respins resetting on every new coin and the GRAND still waiting for a full grid.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
Most of a session here is watching five lines go quiet under all that fire, waiting for coins, and the one reason to choose it over the original is that you can now do something about the waiting. The Extra Bet turns patience into a decision you make with your stake, which is genuinely more interesting than another reskin.
The respin round is still the best thing in the game, because a round that ends only when the coins stop coming is a round that can surprise you late. What lets it down is everything either side of it: the fruit pays pennies, and 1,432x is a ceiling you’ll mostly be looking at rather than reaching.
If you like your slots slow-burning, old-fashioned and honest about it, this is a better version of a game you already liked. Anyone who wants a busy base game or big multipliers won’t find either here, and the flames won’t change that. But it burns clean.
5 Sevens Hold & Win Extra Bet FAQs
-
How do you trigger the Hold & Win bonus in 5 Sevens Hold & Win Extra Bet?
Land six or more scattered Bonus coins in the base game and the bonus round starts. With the Extra Bet switched on, the entry requirement drops to five coins, at the cost of doubling your total stake. -
How do the respins work in the bonus game?
Every coin that appears is held and no longer respins. You get three respins to start, and each new coin resets that count back to three. The round closes once the respins are used up or all 15 cells hold coins, then the total is paid out. -
What does the Extra Bet do in 5 Sevens Hold & Win Extra Bet?
It doubles your total bet and lowers the bonus trigger from six coins to five. All prizes and coin values stay the same as at the original bet, so you’re purely paying for a better chance of entering the feature. -
Can the bonus game retrigger?
There’s no separate retrigger, but the respin count effectively is one. Each new Bonus coin that lands resets the count to three, so a single coin at the last moment extends the round and keeps the ladder alive. -
What is the maximum win on 5 Sevens Hold & Win Extra Bet?
The maximum win is 1,432x your bet, which comes from filling all 15 cells with bonus coins and taking the GRAND prize on top. -
Can you buy the bonus on 5 Sevens Hold & Win Extra Bet?
Yes. The Buy Bonus costs 100x your base bet and takes you straight into the Hold & Win round, with x2, x3 and x5 multipliers spread across the reel cells before the coins drop. -
When is 5 Sevens Hold & Win Extra Bet released?
5 Sevens Hold & Win Extra Bet’s release date is 9 December 2026. -
Who makes 5 Sevens Hold & Win Extra Bet?
AceRun, the studio behind the original 5 Sevens Hold and Win and the wider Hotfire hold-and-win range.
