Most of a session on Golden Donkey Xpand is waiting: spinning, missing, and letting the donkey’s grin do the work. The reason anybody sits through that is the one round where the reels stretch to seven and everything you’ve held gets reshuffled into its best possible shape. That recombination is the best thing here, because a spin that looks like a dud can still resolve into a real pay, and no other builder on this scale does it quite that way.
The problem is what you’re paid with. Between features this game gives almost nothing back, and a 75x top line pay can’t paper over that. The prize ladder helps, stacking up to six of the smaller rungs in one round, but it’s the feature or nothing.
If you like a long, quiet dig and one big payoff at the end of it, this barn was built for you. Players who want something to happen between bonuses will find the gold ran out early.
