Devils Luck Hotfire Hold & Win Slot Review
A grinning red imp leans in from the corner of a burning fruit machine, and he has exactly one trick worth your money. Devils Luck Hotfire Hold & Win is a AceRun slot that hides a genuinely tense coin round behind a deliberately tiny 3×3 cabinet, betting that you’ll sit through the thinnest paytable in the genre to reach it.
The setup is deliberately old-school, a 3×3 grid with five paylines and high volatility, stakes running from 0.2 to 25. The whole game builds towards one coin round, and everything else is kindling. This game carries a published RTP of 94% and a maximum win of 5,330x the bet.
AceRun have walked this road before in Donkey Coins Hold & Win and Joker Box Hotfire Hold & Win, and the family resemblance shows. Whether this devil earns his keep is a fair question. The reels are already turning.
Base Game & Features
Five fixed paylines cross the 3×3 grid, paying left to right on adjacent reels. It’s a classic fruit-machine layout, and Devils Luck doesn’t complicate it. Four jackpot counters sit above the reels in red, blue, purple, and green.
Those jackpots are the visual anchor of the base game, with the top plaque usually sitting far above the rest. They’re part of the furniture here rather than a separate feature with its own trigger.
The paytable is short and steep. Only the top two symbols pay serious money, and the drop from there to the bottom is sharp:
- 777 – 100x for three
- BAR – 40x for three
- Strawberries – 8x for three
- Grapes, Plums, Oranges, Lemons – 2x for three
- Cherries – 1x for three
That top line pays 100x the bet for a single three-of-a-kind, with the BAR at 40x and the strawberries at 8x. Those are the only three symbols worth remembering. Everything from the grapes down pays 2x or less, and cherries only return your stake.
The 777 needs all three reels to line up on one of five lines, which is a narrow target on a 3×3 grid. The hit rate of roughly one win in every eight spins means long stretches where nothing lands at all. That’s standard for a high-volatility three-reeler.
What keeps the base game watchable is the coins. Bonus symbols show up as gold coins carrying cash values, and every one that lands is a step towards the feature. The demo frames show them arriving on the middle reel and paying out small wins of 1x to 3x the bet while the jackpot plaques glow overhead.
Devils Luck Hotfire Hold & Win Bonus Game
Triggering the Bonus
Getting into the feature takes coins on every reel. The round fires once each of the three reels holds at least one of them. There’s a second route in as well: a collect symbol on the middle reel, provided at least one coin sits on each of the two outer reels at the same time.
How the Round Works
Three respins are awarded, played at the same bet as the triggering spin. Any bonus symbol that lands on the middle reel is held in place for the rest of the round. Each new bonus symbol that appears resets the respin counter back to three, so the round can run for as long as the coins keep coming.
That reset is the engine of the whole feature. A dry spin costs one respin, but a single coin buys all three back, so a lucky streak of coin drops can hold the round open indefinitely. The counter is what you watch, reel by reel.
The middle reel is where the money lives. Values or bonus prizes attached to symbols on the leftmost and rightmost reels are added to the value of every bonus symbol on the middle reel, so the outer reels feed the centre. A single coin on the outer reels can be worth several times its face value by the time the maths is done.
Once the respins run dry, the round closes and whatever sits on the middle reel gets paid. It’s a clean structure: fill the centre, keep the counter alive, and hope the outer reels keep feeding coins into the fire.
Bonus Symbol Values
The possible values attached to bonus symbols scale with the total bet:
- 1x the total bet
- 2x the total bet
- 3x the total bet
- 4x the total bet
- 5x the total bet
- 10x the total bet
- 15x the total bet
- 20x the total bet
- 25x the total bet
Those nine rungs cover a wide range for a single mechanic. The gap between 5x and 10x is where the round stops being small change and starts being the reason you sat down. The 25x top value landing on a well-stacked middle reel is the whole prize pool of this game in one coin.
Because the outer reels add their values to every held symbol in the centre, the rungs compound. A middle reel carrying several high-value coins, fed by a pair of 20x symbols on the flanks, is the sort of arithmetic that makes a 3×3 grid suddenly interesting.
Bonus Buy
There’s a Buy Bonus button priced at 100x your bet, so the cost scales with the stake rather than sitting at a fixed price. It’s the kind of price that only makes sense if you’re already committed to chasing the round rather than waiting for the reels to deliver it naturally.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.2/10
Playing this is mostly waiting. You spin a 3×3 grid, cherries pay a coin, and the imp grins while nothing much happens. The reason you’d choose it over any glossier cabinet is the one round that matters: coins sticking to the middle reel, the counter resetting every time one lands, and the middle reel’s held values quietly swelling as the outer reels feed it.
The coin round’s reset rule is the best thing here, because a round that looks finished can run on for several more drops and pay twice what you expected. The worst thing is everything around it: between triggers there’s a paytable where four of the five rows pay pocket change, and the bonus buy costs 100x your stake.
This is one for players who like a long build and a single payoff, and who don’t need variety between bonuses. Anyone who wants a base game that entertains on its own will be watching the flames with nothing to do. For the patient, the devil’s hoard is real, and it’s in the middle reel.
