Diggin for Diamonds 2 Slot Review
A canyon at dusk, mesas going hazy in the last orange light, and a reel set bolted together from rough timber under a saloon banner. Diggin for Diamonds 2 is a slot built on second chances: nearly every dead outcome gets dragged back towards a pay by one modifier or another.
The maths underneath is tighter than the storybook look suggests, and the modifiers exist to bridge that gap.
It runs on a 6×5 grid with scatter pays at 96% RTP, medium-high volatility and a 27.84% hit rate, with stakes from 0.10 to 40. Jelly Entertainment built this one, and the family likeness to Break the Vault MultiBoost and Piggy Staxx shows from the first tumble.
What that labour’s worth by the end of a spin is the question the rest of this answers, one nugget at a time.
Base Game & Features
There are no paylines here. Symbols pay anywhere on the grid, and a win needs eight or more matching symbols, with the pay stepping up at eight, ten and twelve of a kind. All wins are multiples of stake.
The paytable runs from a friendly Old Miner down through the mining kit and a set of coloured gems, with the Blue Diamond propping up the bottom of the ladder.
- Old Miner – 40x for 12+, 15x for 10-11, 5x for 8-9
- Mine Cart with Ore – 20x for 12+, 5x for 10-11, 2.5x for 8-9
- Lantern – 15x for 12+, 3x for 10-11, 2x for 8-9
- Dynamite and Nugget Pouch – 10x for 12+, 2x for 10-11, 1.5x for 8-9
- Red Gem – 6x for 12+, 1.5x for 10-11, 1x for 8-9
- Purple Gem – 5x for 12+, 1.2x for 10-11, 0.8x for 8-9
- Yellow Gem – 4x for 12+, 1x for 10-11, 0.5x for 8-9
- Green Gem – 3x for 12+, 0.8x for 10-11, 0.4x for 8-9
- Blue Diamond – 2x for 12+, 0.5x for 10-11, 0.2x for 8-9
Every win sets off the Tumble Feature. Winning symbols are paid and cleared, everything left falls to the bottom, and fresh symbols drop in from above. Tumbling keeps going until no new win forms, so a single spin can pay several times over.
Diamond Multipliers
Diamond Multipliers land at random on any spin, in values of x2, x3 or x5, with a maximum of two arriving on the initial drop. They can also cascade into view as the reels tumble. They’re applied to the spin’s winnings once the tumbles finish.
It’s the tumbling that makes them interesting. Each time a multiplier tumbles down the reel set it can grow by +1, and a lucky one can snowball through a long tumble sequence.
A multiplier has to tumble to grow, though: one resting in the bottom reel position is stuck there. The main game caps the total at x16.
Mystery Symbols
Mystery symbols can appear on any spin, and they reveal themselves only when there’s no winning combination in view. Each one turns into either a Golden Nugget or a paid symbol, which keeps dead spins from staying dead.
Golden Nuggets
After all tumbles settle, reels carrying Golden Nuggets are opened up. The revealed positions contain Bonus symbols, Instant Pay money symbols, or both, before the Nuggets themselves show their faces.
Bonus symbols revealed this way trigger the free spins only if enough of them land in view to make the count, and during free spins each one adds +1 spin instead. The Instant Pay symbols carry their own ladder, multiplied by the global multiplier in play:
- Instant Pay symbols – 1x, 2x, 5x, 10x, 20x, 50x or 100x the bet
Lose to Win Modifier
On a random losing spin, the Lose to Win Modifier can fire and convert the dead outcome into either a win or the full Free Spins feature. When it hands you the bonus instead of a small pay, it’s a genuine jolt.
Diggin for Diamonds 2 Free Spins & Bonuses
Four or more Bonus symbols anywhere in view start the Free Spins feature, and Bonus symbols are present on all six reels. The more you land, the bigger the starting award:
- 4 Bonus symbols – 10 free spins
- 5 Bonus symbols – 12 free spins
- 6 Bonus symbols – 16 free spins
Sixteen is the ceiling. No more than 16 free spins can be attained from a trigger, though landing Bonus symbols during the round awards one extra spin apiece, so the feature can keep itself alive.
The Free Spins Multiplier is what changes the round. Every Diamond Multiplier that lands is added to a running total rather than paid out and gone, and each spin’s win is multiplied by that current total.
A total that’s been building for ten spins turns even modest tumble wins into something serious, and Instant Pay symbols ride the same multiplier. In a round where the total never resets, that ladder is the whole prize structure.
The extra spins matter more than they might look. Each new spin is another chance for a multiplier to land and another win to be multiplied by everything that came before it, so a round that retriggers early gets the most out of whatever total it’s carrying.
Bonus Buy & Gold Bet
If you’d rather not wait for the scatters, the bonus can be bought outright:
- 80x bet – buys a trigger of four or more Bonus symbols and entry to Free Spins
The Gold Bet is the softer option. It’s a toggle that raises the stake by 50% in exchange for better odds of triggering the bonus naturally.
It doesn’t touch the paytable values, so the choice comes down to how much you want to spend chasing the round rather than paying for it outright.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
Playing this is a lot of waiting in a very pretty canyon. Spins come and go, and just when one looks finished, something reaches in and turns it over: a Mystery Symbol flips, a Nugget opens, or a losing spin abruptly pays out. That constant second chance is the reason to pick it over plainer tumble slots.
The free spins round is the best thing here, because the running multiplier never resets. A total built over ten spins pays on every one of them, which is rarer than it sounds and makes the round genuinely build towards something.
The base game doesn’t hold up on its own. With wins landing on fewer than three spins in ten and the symbols paying modestly, the modifiers are doing rescue work more often than win-building, and that wears thin between bonuses.
It’s a good fit for anyone who loves watching a tumble chain snowball and doesn’t mind earning it. Anyone after steady wins will find the canyon a hungry place.
