Reel The Groove

Reel The Groove Slot Review

An empty Seventies disco hall, all warm light and no crowd: a checkerboard floor lit tile by tile, a ceiling of amber panels fading into the corners, a pink-and-yellow nightclub sign tilted above the reels. Reel The Groove plays its best hand before the bonus even opens, because the base game here is the feature: every winning spin physically rebuilds the board underneath it, and the free spins round is less a new mode than the same idea with the brakes off.

Jelly Entertainment, the studio behind Diggin for Diamonds 2 and Piggy Staxx, have built that idea into a high volatility game running at 96% RTP, with stakes from 0.10 to 40 and a grid that grows from 243 ways to as many as 7,776.

Whether that floor ever fills up depends on how long you’re willing to dance for.

Base Game & Features

The base frame shows 243 ways, and the ways count changes as the game grows. Wins form from three or more identical symbols next to each other, and only the highest combination per way counts. The symbol set splits into a BAR family and the royals, with the game’s own logo sitting on top of both.

The paytable is short and steep. Here’s what each symbol pays as a multiple of your stake:

• Reel the Groove logo: three pays 2x, four pays 4x, five pays 10x
• BAR BAR (pink outline): three pays 1x, four pays 2x, five pays 4x
• BAR BAR (purple): three pays 0.5x, four pays 1x, five pays 3x
• BAR (green): three pays 0.4x, four pays 0.8x, five pays 2x
• A: three pays 0.2x, four pays 0.4x, five pays 1.4x
• K: three pays 0.2x, four pays 0.4x, five pays 1.2x
• Q: three pays 0.1x, four pays 0.2x, five pays 1x
• J: three pays 0.1x, four pays 0.2x, five pays 0.8x
• 10: three pays 0.1x, four pays 0.2x, five pays 0.6x

Notice the drop after the top two rows: everything from the purple BAR BAR down pays less than half a stake for three. That shapes the whole base game, because a single small match funds almost nothing on its own.

Wilds land on reels two, three and four only, and they substitute for any paying symbol. On their own they’re unremarkable. What makes them matter is the multiplier they drive.

Tumble & Reel Growth

Every win is held in place while the losing symbols are removed and new ones tumble in. Wherever winning symbols stick, the reel grows taller. The sequence repeats for as long as new wins keep forming, and reel height maxes out at six symbols.

That growth is where the ways multiply. A spin can open at 243 ways and finish at several thousand, with counts of 576, 720 and 2,592 appearing along the way as the layout stretches. The ceiling is a full six-by-six board, all six reels stacked six high, which is where the 7,776 figure comes from.

It’s a clean idea: the longer a streak runs, the bigger the board underneath it gets. A tumble that keeps connecting doesn’t just pay more, it changes the shape of the game while it does so.

MultiBoost

MultiBoost is the multiplier system, and it runs on Wilds. As symbols are removed, the multiplier is in play whenever a Wild helped form the win, and it increases with each Wild involved. The ladder steps through x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, x10, x15, x25 and x50.

New Wilds can still appear past x50, but the multiplier itself won’t climb any higher. The total is applied to the whole spin’s win at the end, not to each individual tumble. A spin that collects 19 ways of wins at x2, for instance, pays the full combined total doubled.

In Free Spins, MultiBoost is persistent: whatever level you’ve reached stays with you. In the base game it resets, so each spin starts the ladder from scratch.

Xwin

The Xwin symbol triggers a wheel whenever any win lands with it in view. The wheel carries multiplier segments and losing segments. Land a multiplier and your win is multiplied, then the wheel shrinks: four segments next, then two, multiplying again each time you survive.

It ends on a losing position or after the third spin, whichever comes first. A successful multiplier on the first spin is applied to the other multipliers too, so the wheels compound rather than replace. Xwin can land on losing spins, in which case it does nothing, and it isn’t available during Free Spins.

Reel The Groove Bonus Features & Free Spins

Three or more Bonus symbols in view award Free Spins, and only one Bonus symbol can appear per reel. Bonus symbols hold in place during any winning tumble, which means a streak can carry extra scatters into view as the reels grow.

The award ladder is straightforward:

• 3 Bonus symbols: 7 Free Spins
• 4 Bonus symbols: 10 Free Spins
• 5 Bonus symbols: 14 Free Spins

Because scatters hold through the tumble sequence, a spin that starts with three Bonus symbols can finish with four or five as new symbols drop in. The bigger awards aren’t reserved for lucky single screens; they’re earned by streaks that keep clearing space above the held scatters.

The round retriggers in full, so a second set of Bonus symbols restarts the counter. MultiBoost carries through and stays persistent for the whole session, which is what gives the bonus its ceiling: a long run of Wild-assisted wins can hold the multiplier at x50 across every remaining spin.

Two things are absent from the bonus, and both are deliberate. Xwin doesn’t operate there, and the wheel’s instant multipliers don’t compete with the persistent ladder for attention. Everything in the round points one way: grow the board, feed the Wilds, keep the multiplier alive.

Bonus Buy

A Bonus Buy button sits in the bottom-left of the interface, and it does one job: for 50x your stake it hands you a Free Spins session outright. Nothing else comes with the purchase, no additional winnings, no head start on the ladder. The buy is a flat price for entry to the round with the persistent multiplier already live from the first spin.

• Free Spins: 50x bet

Our Honest Verdict

Overall Rating: 7.7/10

Reel The Groove is a game you play for the streaks. Most of a session is spent watching a near-empty dance floor, and then one connecting tumble turns a 243-way board into something four times the size and the whole room lights up at once. That contrast is the reason to choose it over a dozen glossier releases.

The best thing here is the Free Spins round, and specifically that the multiplier doesn’t reset between spins: a bad spin in the bonus costs you nothing you’d already built, which makes every round feel like it’s going somewhere. The worst thing is the floor underneath it. Roughly four spins in five pay nothing at all, and the ones that do mostly pay fractions of a stake, so the base game is a long walk between dances.

It’s a patient game, and it rewards patience in kind. People who enjoy watching a board grow under its own momentum and can sit through the quiet stretches will get on with it well; anyone who wants regular small hits to keep the balance ticking will find the wait long and the lights seldom on.
