Diggin for Diamonds The Big Bonanza Slot Review
A timber mine head stands open to the desert sky, thick bolted beams holding a curved signboard over the reels, a laden minecart waiting on rails in the sand. Jelly Entertainment‘s Diggin for Diamonds The Big Bonanza works this claim on a 6×5 grid where any eight matching symbols pay, at 95.1% RTP with high volatility underneath the warm cartoon gloss. The honest read is that the gems themselves barely matter: the bottom half of the paytable returns fractions of your stake, and every real result comes from the multipliers riding the tumble chains.
It’s close kin to Diggin for Diamonds 2, which we scored 7.2 on its 2026 visit to this same canyon, though this one puts its weight elsewhere. Sister titles Big Benji’s Back WildWays and Bounty Hunter MultiBoost come from the same workshop. Whether the seam pays is what the rest of this is for.
Base Game & Features
The grid is six reels by five rows, and paylines don’t exist here. Symbols pay anywhere in view, and eight or more of any symbol makes a win. There’s no left-to-right requirement and no adjacency: eight gems scattered across all six reels pay the same as eight in a block. Just over a quarter of spins produce a hit.
The look is bright, glossy 3D with a storybook-western feel, and the reels sit inside that rough-hewn mine-head frame rather than a plain window. It’s cohesive, and it doesn’t get in the way of the maths.
Tumble Feature
Every winning spin sets off a tumble. Winning combinations are paid, then all winning symbols disappear. The remaining symbols fall to the bottom of the screen and empty positions are replaced from above.
Tumbling continues until no new winning combinations form, so a single spin can chain several payouts. The mechanic matters more here than in most tumble games, because a chain keeps the screen populated and gives multiplier symbols room to land before the sequence closes.
Multipliers
Multiplier symbols hit randomly during spins and tumbles, in the base game and in Free Spins. Each one takes a random value from 2x to 100x. They don’t pay on their own: a multiplier symbol only pays if the tumbling sequence it sits in produces a win.
When the sequence ends, the values of all multiplier symbols on screen are added together, and the total win of the sequence is multiplied by that figure. Several multipliers landing in one chain stack additively rather than individually, which is what turns an ordinary run of gems into something worth watching.
Loss to Win Modifier
At random, a losing outcome can be turned over by a loss to win modifier, awarding either a win or the bonus. It doesn’t announce itself in advance, and it can’t be relied on. A spin that looks dead isn’t always finished.
Paying Symbols
Nine symbols make up the paytable, from the Yellow Bird Miner down through mining gear and four gems. Values below are multiples of stake:
- Yellow Bird Miner: 8-9 pays 10x, 10-11 pays 25x, 12+ pays 50x
- Mine Cart/Chest: 8-9 pays 2.5x, 10-11 pays 10x, 12+ pays 25x
- Lantern: 8-9 pays 2x, 10-11 pays 5x, 12+ pays 15x
- Pickaxe/Drill: 8-9 pays 1.5x, 10-11 pays 2x, 12+ pays 12x
- Red Gem: 8-9 pays 1x, 10-11 pays 1.5x, 12+ pays 10x
- Purple Gem: 8-9 pays 0.8x, 10-11 pays 1.2x, 12+ pays 8x
- Orange/Yellow Gem: 8-9 pays 0.5x, 10-11 pays 1x, 12+ pays 5x
- Green Gem: 8-9 pays 0.4x, 10-11 pays 0.9x, 12+ pays 4x
- Blue Pentagon Gem: 8-9 pays 0.25x, 10-11 pays 0.75x, 12+ pays 2x
The gap between tiers is steep. Doubling from eight symbols to twelve multiplies the Miner’s pay five times over, while the same climb on the Blue Pentagon Gem pays eight times as much. The gems are tumble-fodder; the Miner is the prize.
Diggin for Diamonds The Big Bonanza Free Spins & Bonus
Free Spins
Four or more bonus symbols anywhere in view start the round. The award scales with the count:
- 4 bonus symbols: 12 Free Spins
- 5 bonus symbols: 15 Free Spins
- 6 bonus symbols: 18 Free Spins
Inside the round, every multiplier symbol that lands is added to a running total for the whole Free Spins session. That total never resets between spins, so the round builds as it goes: a chain early in the session keeps paying into everything after it.
Retriggers keep the door open. Landing three more bonus symbols mid-round adds four Free Spins to whatever remains, and those extra spins inherit the accumulated total rather than starting fresh. A round that retriggers late can pay far more than its opening count suggested.
Gold Bet
Activating Gold Bet raises the stake by 25% in exchange for more chances to trigger the bonus. The paytable values stay exactly as they were, so every win you do land pays the same multiple of a larger stake. It’s a trigger bet, not a payout boost, and it’s priced per spin for as long as you leave it on.
Bonus Buy
Two buy options skip the base game entirely, with no additional winnings attached:
- 100x bet: awards 12 or more Free Spins
- 250x bet: awards 15 or 18 Free Spins
The premium tier guarantees a floor of 15 spins but leaves the top end open at 18, so what the extra cost buys is spin count, not spin quality. Either way, the round you buy is the round described above: everything depends on how early the multipliers arrive.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
This is a lot of quiet sifting between finds. You choose it for the one thing it does that plain tumble games don’t: the Free Spins total that climbs and never resets, so a round keeps meaning more the longer it runs. When a retrigger lands late, everything you’ve banked multiplies the finish, and that build is the whole reason to be here.
The strength is that the round genuinely compounds – spin fifteen can be worth several times spin two, and it happens by design rather than luck. The weakness is the canyon floor: the gem symbols pay so little that a base-game session can grind without ever threatening a decent return, and 250x for a guaranteed 15 or 18 spins is steep against that.
It suits the patient sort who enjoy panning through a long dry stretch for one compounding bonus, and there’s real satisfaction in the build when it comes. Anyone who wants regular wins to keep a session moving will find this claim hungry going.
