Egypt: Dark Stories Slot Review
Most might associate Egypt with sunny sands, gilded pyramids, and hieroglyphics, but 7Rings Gaming has shown there’s a darker side to the tomb in Egypt: Dark Stories…
It’s a pay-anywhere slot built around progressive multipliers and jumpscares. The maths runs at 96.00% RTP on high volatility, with stakes from 0.20 to 100 per spin on a 7×4 pay anywhere grid and a 50,000x ceiling at the highest Maths Level, since operators can configure the game’s maths.
Fans of Necro Party and Blood Hoppers will recognise the horror-themed register, but is there a tomb worth robbing under all that atmosphere?

Base Game & Features
The grid is seven reels by four rows with pay anywhere wins, so symbols count regardless of where they land once you hit the minimum cluster of eight matching symbols.
Cascades keep the reels moving, clear the middle of the grid, and it’s how the central feature gets uncovered.
The setting does real work, too. Hieroglyph-incised pillars flank the reels inside a carved stone portal, garbled chanting and distant screams sit under the spins, and the animations when a win lands are polished. Every so often the mummy itself leaps out with a scream. It will get you the first time!
That commitment runs through everything: the flickering candle, the near-black corridor, the sound of something waking up. This is the darker side of the tomb, and it wears it well.
The Sarcophagus
A base game revolves around scatter pays and cascades, which feeds into the stone sarcophagus within the three middle reels.
It can randomly reveal multipliers behind the locked symbols, from 2x to 25x, to boost winning combinations.

The Mummy
When the whole sarcophagus is uncovered, the Mummy emerges in the Bonus. From that point it adds a Big Multiplier of x10 up to x100 to wins landing in the sarcophagus area on every spin.
Multipliers in the x25 to x50 range came up consistently. Uncovering the sarcophagus doesn’t take long once cascades start chaining either.

Bonus Game
Land four or more Scatter symbols and the Bonus Game begins. The sarcophagus changes behaviour here: the multipliers it reveals stay active until the end of the round, and every win on the sarcophagus reveals further multipliers on top.
A typical round runs in three stages. First the cascades chip away at the covering around the sarcophagus.
Then it opens fully, the Mummy steps out with its Big Multiplier attached, and every subsequent win in that zone collects the boosted pay while revealing yet another multiplier underneath.
From there the round feeds on itself until the win chains stop forming.

Buy Bonus and Booster
There’s a scatter Booster plus three direct Buy Bonus options, each buying a guaranteed Bonus Game with a different scatter count:
- Booster – doubles the chance of scatters landing
- Breaking the Seal – 100x, guaranteed bonus with 4 scatters
- Cracking the Sarcophagus – 250x, guaranteed bonus with 5 scatters
- Unleashing the Mummy – 500x, guaranteed bonus with 6 scatters
The Booster works differently from the buys: it doesn’t guarantee anything, it just doubles the odds of scatters landing on any given spin while it’s active. It’s the cheap option for players who’d rather grind the trigger than pay for it outright.
Of the three direct tiers, the middle one is the sweet spot. The extra starting scatters give the round enough of a head start that the sarcophagus unlocks once the wins chain, without paying double for the top tier.

Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 8.1/10
Sitting through Egypt: Dark Stories is a nervous business, in the best way: a near-black corridor, garbled chanting under every spin, and a mummy that occasionally leaps out with a scream you’ll be glad you didn’t have headphones on for.
The reason to choose it over a sunnier Egyptian game is that placement genuinely matters here, so every cascade carries a little tension about where it lands rather than just how much.
The strongest thing about it is the bonus round, because nothing resets. Multipliers stick, every middle-reel win adds more, and a round that gets going snowballs instead of trickling out, with the mummy’s boost giving it a ceiling genuinely worth chasing.
This suits players who want their Egyptian slots cursed rather than gilded, and anyone who enjoys cascades with a multiplier zone to aim at. Anyone after the classic gold-and-scarab version of Egypt will find this tomb perhaps a little too dark. For everyone else, the candle’s already lit.
