Electric Chip Extreme Xmas Slot Review
Forked lightning cracks across a navy winter sky, snow piles along a gold-trimmed reel cabinet, and electric-blue current runs along the frame. Electric Chip Extreme Xmas puts almost nothing between you and its biggest prize: a three-reel game paying its serious money through a single coin mechanic, with a 20,000x max win attached.
The build is unusual. Three reels arranged in a cross, with the centre reel standing five positions tall against three on each wing, and 15 paylines running across the shape.
It comes from Skywind Group, who have also turned their hand to Joker’s Luck Xmas and Wild Moose Bonanza Xmas – neither of which chases a prize anywhere near this size. A three-reel Christmas slot with a five-high middle reel and a thunderstorm behind it is a strange build, and the strangeness is the appeal.
Three Reels, Fifteen Lines and a 777 Wild
The cross-shaped grid is the first thing to understand. Reels one and three hold three positions each; the centre reel holds five, so the middle of the game is far taller than its wings. Wins pay across 15 fixed paylines, with three matching symbols from the left doing the job. On a three-reel game that means every spin is a single row of decisions: the shape does the rest.
The 777 wild substitutes for every regular symbol and is the richest payer on the grid, paying 25x for three. It can’t stand in for the Electric Coin or the Collector Coin, which are the game’s special symbols and belong to the feature rather than the paytable.
The regular symbols are a compact festive set, and the game’s information screens list their pays for three matching symbols as dollar amounts:
- Bells – 15x for three
- Dice – 10x for three
- Gift with red bow – 8x for three
- Gift with blue bow – 8x for three
- Heart, Spade and Diamond – 2x for three
- Club – 1x for three
It’s a top-heavy little table. Bells pay fifteen times what the Club pays, and the two gift symbols sit level with each other in the middle, so the top three entries carry most of the base game’s modest weight. The heart, spade, diamond and club fill out the bottom as low-value royals.
All displayed amounts are dynamically updated in relation to the base bet of the game. A Buy In Feature option sits in the interface for players who’d rather not wait for the trigger.
Hold and Spin Feature
The Two Coins
Everything valuable in this game runs through two special symbols. Electric Coins appear on the outer reels only, in six types carrying different prize values. Collector Coins appear on reel two only, and they gather up the prize shown on any Electric Coin in the window.
A Collector Coin pays what it has gathered at the end of the game, or at the end of the feature if one is running. So coins matter in the base game too, not just in the bonus round.
The Electric Coin ladder runs from small multiples of the bet right up to the game’s jackpot tiers:
- Coin values – 1x, 2x, 3x, 5x, 7x, 10x or 15x the base bet
- Mini – 25x the base bet
- Minor – 50x the base bet
- Major – 150x the base bet
- Grand – 1,000x the base bet
- Maxwin – 20,000x the base bet
Notice the spacing on that ladder. The four jackpot tiers step up in clean multiples of two to six, and then the gap between Grand and Maxwin is a factor of twenty. The top coin is in a class of its own, and nothing else on the reels comes close to it.
Triggering the Round
The Hold and Spin Feature needs Electric Coins on both outer reels and a Collector Coin in the middle. Specifically, one or more Electric Coins on reel one and reel three, plus a Collector Coin somewhere on reel two.
There’s a second route in as well: once at least one Electric Coin or Collector Coin has landed, the game can randomly add further coins to complete the pattern, so a pair of near-misses can resolve itself without another spin.
How the Round Plays Out
The feature begins with three respins. The Collector Coin that triggered it locks in place and gathers the prizes from every Electric Coin in the window, while all other positions clear. From there, every position spins as an individual reel, and only Electric Coins and Collector Coins can land.
The triggering Collector Coin keeps accumulating as new Electric Coins land, and each further Collector Coin on reel two locks for the whole round, gathering from the moment it arrives. A maximum of four Collector Coins can land during the respins. If reel two fills with five of them, only the outer reels keep spinning.
Any additional coin that lands during a respin resets the counter to three, which is what gives the round its legs. It only ends when the respins run out with nothing new on the reels, at which point each Collector Coin pays out everything it has gathered.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Everything in this game runs through one coin. You sit through the storm watching the outer reels for Electric Coins, and if the middle reel cooperates, the round that follows is where everything happens. That single-mindedness is exactly why somebody would choose it: no scatter wheels, no pick-me games, just a ladder with 20,000x sitting at the top of it.
The design of the round is genuinely good. Because up to five Collector Coins can lock on the middle reel, each gathering separately, one lucky Electric Coin can pay out several times over in a single round, and the reset-on-every-coin rule means a good round keeps extending itself. The base game is the weak half: with the best regular symbol paying 15x for three and the wild 25x, the stretches between features are thin ones.
It suits players who like a coin collector with a long build and a real ceiling, and who don’t need much from the spins in between. Anyone after a busy base game will find the quiet here deafening. For the patient type, the storm pays off.
