Express Fortune Surge Slot Review
The coins in Express Fortune Surge are worth nothing on their own. They land constantly across the 3×3 grid, each printed with a stake value, but until a crown turns up on the middle reel they’re decoration; the gold locomotive perched above the reels, smoke drifting into a plum-coloured sky, is the game’s own admission of where the drama isn’t. Everything rests on one symbol and one reel, which is a bold design for a five-fixed-line three-reeler.
Booming Games have built it around one idea: coins land in the base game, a crown collects them, and the right formation of the two takes over the reels with respins and a prize ladder capped by a 1000x Grand. The RTP is 96.10%. Sister titles include Bang Bang Reloaded and Regal Coins Hold and Win.
Base Game & Features
The reels carry a classic three-reel symbol set, rendered in the same glossy mock-3D style as the locomotive above them. Fruit, BAR and 777 symbols do the traditional work, while the coin and crown symbols carry the game’s own machinery. The full set on the grid:
- Fruit symbols
- BAR
- 777
- Coin symbols, each carrying a stake value
- A wild
- The crown, on reel two only
Wins land across five paylines on the 3×3 grid. All five are fixed, so there’s no line selection and every spin plays the full set. It’s a small board, and the game treats it that way: nothing here complicates a straightforward spin.
The wild substitutes for other symbols in winning combinations. That’s its whole job. The game doesn’t build anything further on it, which keeps the base game’s attention squarely on the coins.
Coin Stack
Every coin that lands in the base game is collected into the coin chest. That’s the modifier running constantly: coins arrive, the chest takes them, and each one’s stake value is banked as it lands. A coin’s value is a multiple of the bet, and coins show those stake values printed on them as they sit on the grid.
The Coin Stack feature may also randomly trigger the Fortune Surge Bonus after a spin. The accumulation itself has no bearing on those odds. A chest stuffed with coins and a nearly empty one give exactly the same chance of the bonus firing.
So the chest works as a running tally rather than a progress bar towards anything. It keeps coins on the grid and keeps the crown mechanic fed, and that’s the extent of it.
Fortune Surge Feature
The crown never strays from the middle reel, and as many as three of them can stack onto it. When a crown lands in combination with any coin or prize pot, the Fortune Surge feature activates.
This is the bridge between the base game’s constant coin collection and the bonus round. It’s also the only route the crown has into play, since the symbol doesn’t appear anywhere else on the grid. No crown on reel two means nothing the coins do matters.
Express Fortune Surge Bonus
The Fortune Surge Bonus triggers on one specific formation: a coin on reel one, a crown on reel two, and a coin on reel three, all at once. The trigger works like this:
- Coin on reel one
- Crown on reel two
- Coin on reel three
Three free respins are awarded, and the crown sticks to reel two for the duration. A maximum of three crowns can appear during the bonus. Each crown gathers the value of every coin on the grid, prize pots included, and adds the lot to its own prize value.
Every new symbol that lands resets the remaining respins to three, so the round keeps going as long as fresh coins keep arriving. From there the sequence is straightforward:
- A coin or crown lands on a respin
- The respin count resets to three
- Each crown collects the new symbol’s value
- Repeat until three consecutive respins pass with nothing landing
The round also stops if the transaction win limit is reached. When it’s over, the sum of all visible values is paid out. The possible coin values are:
- 1x the bet
- 2x the bet
- 3x the bet
- 5x the bet
- 7x the bet
- 10x the bet
- 15x the bet
- 25x the bet (Mini)
- 50x the bet (Minor)
- 150x the bet (Major)
- 1000x the bet (Grand)
The four named tiers, Mini through Grand, are the prize pots, and they’re collected exactly like ordinary coins. With three crowns collecting simultaneously, the same coin can effectively pay into three prizes at once, which is where the round’s real arithmetic lives.
Bonus Buy
There’s a single purchase option. It works like this:
- Price: 75x your bet
- Purchase: the star icon on the right side of the interface
- What it buys: the Fortune Surge Bonus, directly
The buy skips the base game entirely and drops you straight into the respin round, crowns and all. Given that the chest offers no progress towards the trigger, it’s the only guaranteed route in.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
Most of a session here is waiting: fruit and BARs drifting past, coins piling into a chest, and one middle reel deciding whether any of it matters. That’s the whole reason to pick it, though. Very few three-reel games hand their entire personality to a single bonus round and then make that round this dense.
The bonus is the strength, and it’s not close. Three crowns all collecting the same coins while every landing resets the respin count means a good round snowballs, and the 1000x Grand gives it a genuine top jackpot for the format. The weakness is the chest, which looks like progress and is pure theatre. Stack it all you like, the odds don’t move an inch.
This one’s for players who like the hold-and-collect formula and don’t need a five-reel sprawl to enjoy it. For everyone else, it’s a tidy collector with a handsome train on top, and the gold it hauls is real enough when the crown shows up.
Express Fortune Surge FAQs
