Gem Saviour Slot Review
Every RPG party has a hero out front with the sword and something small and magical hovering behind him, keeping everybody upright. Here the hero gets a flying cat, and the two of them go hopping between worlds through portals, looking for monsters to pick a fight with.
That quest belongs to Gem Saviour, an anime-styled adventure from PG Soft that keeps its role-playing ambitions running above a gem grid. Wins arrive in clusters across 6×6 positions rather than on paylines.
RTP is 96.82%, volatility sits at medium, and something lands on 28.26% of spins. The ceiling is the awkward part: 1000x your stake, which by modern grid-slot standards is a semi-precious sort of ceiling.
Fantasy questing is familiar ground for the studio, and Jack The Giant Hunter mines a similar seam.
Another sibling worth a look is Grimm’s Bounty: Hansel & Gretel, and for that specific sensation of a story ticking along above the reels, the nearest reference point outside PG Soft’s catalogue is Holy Diver from Big Time Gaming.
Base Game & Features
The grid runs 6×6 with no paylines at all. Matching gems in clusters is what pays, and the paytable runs eight gem symbols deep.
- Diamond (white): 30 per matched gem
- Gold gem: 15
- Red heart gem: 10
- Pink gem: 10
- Orange triangle and teal square gems: 5
- Blue and green arrow gems: 3
Of that 96.82% overall RTP, 53.36% is returned in base play. The remainder sits in the adventure layer above the reels.
Stakes run from €0.30 to €750 a spin, set through a combination of coin value and bet level. The game is tested by Gaming Associates and runs on iOS, Android, Windows and MacOS as well as in HTML5 browsers.
Collapsing Reels
Winning gems explode and fresh ones cascade down into the gaps. If the new arrangement forms another cluster, that pays and collapses in turn, and the chain keeps going until no winning combination can be formed.

Respin Gem
When a Respin Gem sits on a reel and no further winning combination can be tallied, every gem on that reel is removed and a new arrangement cascades in. It’s a fresh look at the same reel without the spin ending.

Special Gems
A Special Gem can appear while the Hero is attacking monsters. It drops into a random position and transforms some of the gems around it into one randomly chosen type. Four shapes exist:
- Horizontal Special Gem
- Vertical Special Gem
- Area Special Gem
- Plus Special Gem
Gem Saviour Bonus Features
There’s no free spins round in Gem Saviour and no bonus buy. Everything runs inside base play, driven by the Hero Adventure ticking along above the reels, and the two paying encounters carry a sizeable share of the return:
- Main game: 53.36% RTP contribution
- Monster Encounter: 25.71%
- Treasure Chest: 17.75%
Hero Adventure
The Hero travels a little further with every spin. Along the way he runs into stacks of relics and various types of monster, and whatever he meets decides what a spin can pay beyond the gems themselves.

Relic Encounters and Rewards
Meeting a stack of relics puts the Hero to work: he destroys a block of relic on every spin and every gem explosion until nothing is left standing. Clearing the stack hands over one of three things.
- Money Bag: pays 2x to 5x the current bet
- Treasure Map: no direct prize. Explode gems on every position the map marks and you collect a treasure key. A map can only turn up when there’s no active map on the reels and no key in hand
- Treasure Chest: pays 10x, 15x, 20x or 30x the current bet, and only appears while a key is in hand. Opening it spends the key
Monster Encounters
When the Hero meets monsters, both sides trade attacks every spin until the monster’s HP hits zero. Winning gem combinations are what deal the damage, so a heavy cascade clears a monster in fewer spins. If the Hero’s own HP runs out, the cat puts up a healing shield.

Coins are awarded when a monster goes down, scaled to what you were up against:
- Mimic, Bat or Skeleton: 3x bet
- Gargoyle or Treant: 6x bet
- Werewolf or Golem: 15x bet
- Witch: 44x bet

Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.9/10
Base play is where the balance quietly drains. Cascades pay often enough to keep you moving, but the spins spent chipping down a relic stack still cost full price, and the money bags behind them rarely repay the trip.
The battles are the reason to be here. Coming face to face with something out of the underworld, knowing the tier you’re up against is worth several times the last one, is as close as this gets to a bonus round.
The Respin Gem earns its keep in those fights. The Special Gems mostly disappear behind the animation.
What’s missing is an endgame. There’s no free spins round to build towards, and a 1000x ceiling settles what this is: a game about the journey rather than the finish.
It’ll suit anyone who likes long sessions and a bit of role-playing carrying on above the reels. Traditionalists who want paylines and a proper bonus round should walk on by.
The cat never had to save our hero. The charm did most of the saving.
