Gods Of Ireland Slot Review
A meadow rolls towards the horizon, heather in the grass, warm light pooling at the base of an old tree. Plenty of Irish slots lean on the luck; Gods Of Ireland leans on its gods instead, and it’s a better game for it. Red Rake Gaming have built a 5×3 grid running at 95.4% RTP where nearly everything interesting hinges on a single reel: the middle one. That’s the arguable part. Both features trigger only there, the wild pays best of any symbol, and the coin round’s ladder is the only prize worth the word.
It sits closer to the studio’s Million 777 Hot and Million Zeus 2 than to the usual leprechaun fare, and the painted meadow quietly does the rest.
The Reels and the Paytable
Wins pay left to right across adjacent reels, and only the highest combination on a line counts. The wild, a red-haired woman, substitutes for everything except the clover, the bells and the Dagda symbol. She’s also the richest symbol on the grid in her own right, paying 33.3333x the total bet for six of a kind.
The harps are the premium pays, and there are three of them, each worth a different amount. The royals fill out the rest of the grid, with the jack paying in any mixed combination.
- Harp (first variant): 8.3333x the total bet for five, 16.6667x for six
- Harp (second variant): 2.6667x for five, 8.3333x for six
- Harp (third variant): 0.5x for three, 6.6667x for five
- A: 1x for three, 1.3333x for four, 3.3333x for five
- K: 0.6667x for three, 1.6667x for five
- Q: 0.1667x for four, 1.6667x for five
- J (any mixed combination): 0.1667x for three, 0.6667x for four, 1.6667x for five
- Wild: 1x for three, 6.6667x for five, 33.3333x for six
The Bell is the scatter. It doesn’t need to sit on a payline to count, though scatter pays must land on or within one position of the first payline. Three bells pays 1x the total bet.
The ladder climbs steadily from there: 2x for four bells, 5x for five, 10x for six, 25x for seven and 50x for eight. Nine bells pay 100x the total bet, the biggest single figure the base game prints.
Everything between the scatter and the wild is modest. The royals pay fractions of the stake for most combinations, and even the top harp needs six of a kind to clear eight times the bet. The scatter ladder is the only route to bigger base game returns.
Green Fairy Wilds
The Lorg Anfaid symbol lives on the central reel and nowhere else. When it lands, the Green Fairy Wilds feature fires and fairies randomly convert symbols on the grid into wilds.
Its value depends entirely on how many symbols get converted. One or two extra wilds on a 5×3 grid rarely amounts to much, but a lucky sweep can stack several high-paying lines at once. A converted line of the wild herself is the best the base game offers.
The Dagda Coins Minigame
How It Works
The Dagda symbol also appears only on the central reel, and landing it starts the minigame. The triggering symbol splits into three silver coins, each carrying a random value or one of the Mini, Minor or Major prizes. Those coins lock in place, and you start with three respins.
Every further Dagda symbol that appears resets the respin counter back to three. Before it settles in, all silver coins from the previous spin turn gold, their values are paid out, and the new symbol becomes a silver coin of its own.
Additional Dagda symbols in the same spin pay out any gold coins on the reels first, then convert to silver themselves. So a single spin can both bank the coins already sitting there and add fresh ones to the grid.
The two coin colours each have a job. Silver coins are still building: they hold their value on the grid but haven’t paid yet. Gold coins have been banked, and their values are awarded the moment the next Dagda symbol lands.
The Jackpot Ladder
Fill all 15 positions with coins and the GRAND win is yours. The round ends when the respins run out or the grid fills, and if it finishes without a single further Dagda symbol appearing, the three initial coins are still awarded, so the round never returns nothing.
The ladder itself, as multiples of the total bet:
- GRAND: 300x the total bet
- MAJOR: 40x the total bet
- MINOR: 20x the total bet
- MINI: 10x the total bet
The respin reset is the engine here. Because every new Dagda symbol tops the counter back up, a run of them can keep the round alive well beyond three spins, banking gold coin values along the way while the grid fills towards the Grand. There’s no stated cap on the resets.
The coin values themselves are random, so a full round’s worth depends on what lands as much as on how long the round survives. The 300x Grand is the fixed landmark at the end of it.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.9/10
Playing this one is a patient walk through a very pretty field. The reels turn, the harps pay gently, and every so often the middle reel delivers something. That’s the whole rhythm, and it’s the reason to pick it: the Dagda Coins round, where one run of symbols can keep resetting the counter and paying you in stages while the grid fills.
That reset is the best thing here. The weakness is everything around it: the fairies are a flicker rather than a feature, and the bottom of the ladder, 10x for a Mini, won’t cover a round that dies on its opening coins.
It suits players who enjoy a collect-and-hold round without free spins getting in the way, and the meadow stays lovely throughout. Chasers of four-figure multipliers will find greener fields elsewhere; for everyone else, the gods here are generous enough.
