Hellmageddon Slot Review
Hellmageddon is a slot where the paytable barely matters: the top symbol pays 1x for five of a kind, and every win of consequence comes from coins stacked and multiplied on a bar beside the reels. That’s a bold way to build a game, and it plays like one. The setting is a Wild West that has clearly gone to hell: a devil cowboy in a horned hat and flame-decorated spurs on one side, a winged grey-skinned bruiser with his arms crossed on the other, lava winding up past a nailed wooden reel frame in a hand-drawn world that’s almost entirely grey, with that red-orange the only colour on screen.
The pair are Burt and Curt, the game’s damned duo, and the game built around them runs on a 5×4 grid with 1,024 ways, a 96.3% RTP and a 10,000x max win, with bets from 0.10 to 2,000.00 per spin. It’s familiar ground for this studio, sitting somewhere between Hounds of Hell and Wanted Dead or a Wild, with a shade of Dark Summoning in the mood.
The Base Game and Its Symbols
Wins form in the standard way here: matching symbols on adjacent reels from left to right, starting on reel one, with each combination creating a winning way. There are 1,024 possible ways across the 5×4 grid. Only the highest win per way is paid, and multiple wins in a round add together.
There’s no wild symbol in Hellmageddon. The special work is done by the Coin, Dynamite and FS symbols, which the features below cover.
The paytable runs from a pointing hand at the top down through western and occult symbols to the low-paying books and horseshoes. Values are multiples of the total bet:
- Pointing Hand – 0.5x for three, 0.8x for four, 1x for five
- Devil Face – 0.3x for three, 0.5x for four, 0.8x for five
- Bull Skull – 0.3x for three, 0.5x for four, 0.8x for five
- Hat – 0.2x for three, 0.3x for four, 0.5x for five
- Boots – 0.2x for three, 0.3x for four, 0.5x for five
- Lasso/Noose – 0.1x for three, 0.2x for four, 0.3x for five
- Horseshoe – 0.1x for three, 0.2x for four, 0.3x for five
- Pentagram (blue) – 0.1x for three, 0.2x for four, 0.3x for five
- Black Book – 0.1x for three, 0.2x for four, 0.3x for five
- White Book – 0.1x for three, 0.2x for four, 0.3x for five
Super Cascades
Whenever a winning combination lands, every regular paying symbol of that type that took part in the win is removed from the grid, and new symbols drop in to fill the gaps. That continues until no new wins appear, so a single spin can chain several payouts.
Cascades are what keep the grid moving between CoinWays formations.
CoinWays and Dynamite
CoinWays
Bronze, Silver and Gold Coin symbols can land anywhere, and when they form a pattern matching one of the predetermined ways to win, they create a CoinWays formation. These are handled after regular wins. A formation has to start on the leftmost reel and include Coins from at least one reel, and for Coins on multiple reels to count together, those reels have to be adjacent.
Coins on reels one, two, three and five, for instance, only count the first three reels. The coin tiers are simple:
- Bronze Coins – 1x or 2x
- Silver Coins – 3x or 4x
- Gold Coins – 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x or 10x
When CoinWays activate, each Coin adds its value to a Coin Bar for the reel it landed on, and multiple Coins on one reel add together. Once every reel’s value is set, the bar multiplies them left to right. A bar reading 2, 3, 2, 7 and 3 pays 252x the bet as a cash prize. Individual Coins are capped at 60x.
Dynamite Symbols
Dynamite is what feeds the bar. A Dynamite symbol activates when it lands within a 3×3 square surrounding any Coin that’s part of a CoinWays formation, and it adds a value between 1x and 10x to every Coin inside that square before wins are handled.
Up to five Dynamite symbols can sit on the grid at once, so a single drop can fatten several reels’ Coins in one go.
Bonus Games: Hellcation and Tandemonium
Two free spins rounds share the same trigger symbol. Three FS scatters at once in the base game starts Hellcation with 10 free spins; four starts Tandemonium, also with 10. Both keep the base game’s mechanics intact, so cascades, CoinWays and Dynamite all carry over.
Hellcation
The simpler of the two. Hellcation raises the chance of Coin and Dynamite symbols landing, and nothing else changes.
Tandemonium
The bigger of the two. Tandemonium guarantees at least one Coin symbol and one Dynamite symbol on every single spin, so the Coin Bar gets fed each time and the multiplication always has material to work with.
Both rounds retrigger the same way. Two FS symbols landing together during the bonus adds two free spins; three adds four. The win cap applies in every game mode: when it’s reached, the round ends immediately and any remaining free spins are discarded.
Bonus Buys and FeatureSpins
The BUY BONUS menu offers both bonus games plus three FeatureSpins options. FeatureSpins keep the reels spinning with a guaranteed feature at a set cost based on your current bet level, and they stay active until you switch them off. The available options:
- BonusHunt FeatureSpins – 96.32% RTP
- Damned FeatureSpins – 96.24% RTP (FS symbols cannot land in this mode)
- Doom FeatureSpins – 96.27% RTP (FS symbols cannot land in this mode)
- Hellcation – 10 free spins with a higher chance of Coin and Dynamite symbols, 96.21% RTP
- Tandemonium – 10 free spins with a guaranteed Coin and Dynamite on every spin, 96.28% RTP
Feature buys can exceed the game’s normal maximum bet. The RTP spread across the menu is narrow, and Tandemonium’s buy actually returns slightly less than the base game’s 96.3%, so the choice between them is about how you want to play rather than the maths.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
This is a slow burn, and that’s the whole point of it. You spin, cascades clear the grid, and mostly nothing much lands – then a few coins creep onto the bar and suddenly you’re watching five numbers multiply and hoping. Burt and Curt’s grey little inferno knows exactly what it’s doing with that quiet, and the one reason to pick it is the moment the bar lights up.
Tandemonium is the best thing here by some distance: a guaranteed Coin and Dynamite every spin makes the multiplier the main event instead of a happy accident, and the retrigger can stretch a good round well past ten spins. The weakness is everything either side of it – no wild, a paytable that tops out at 1x, and base-game stretches where the screen gives you nothing but scenery.
It’s built for players who enjoy the build: feeding the bar, waiting on the multiplication, sitting comfortably through the dry spells in between. Anyone who wants regular hits and a paytable that carries its own weight will find better company elsewhere in this studio’s catalogue. For the patient, the damned duo deliver.
