Juicy Jelly Thunder Ways Slot Review
Most slots that advertise a 10,000x ceiling make you wait for one lucky spin. Juicy Jelly Thunder Ways wants you to earn it instead: nearly everything this reef pays out arrives through something you’ve built first, a symbol you’ve collected or a countdown you’ve waited out. That’s an arguable way to design a game, and it’s the argument the whole machine is built around.
ReelPlay set it on a glowing deep-sea reef, bubbles drifting up through dark blue-violet water, a candy-striped frame around a 5×5 grid split down the middle by a divider stripe. The Thunder Ways mechanic puts that split to work, the two reels on the left picking symbols and the three on the right counting them – a step sideways from the studio’s fixed-ways titles like Atlantis 10K Ways and Hercules 10K Ways.
The numbers sit at 94% RTP, medium-high volatility, a 32.2% hit rate, bets from 0.30 to 21, and a 10,000x round cap. Underneath the neon there’s a proper collection game, and whether it glows as bright in play as it does on the shelf is the short version of what follows.
Base Game & Features
Thunder Ways
Any symbol landing adjacent in reels 1 and 2 becomes an Active Symbol. Every matching symbol that lands anywhere in reels 3, 4 and 5 then counts towards that active total, added together with the two on the left for the total number of winning symbols.
Three symbols is the minimum for a win. Eleven is the maximum combination for a single Active Symbol, which is how a 5×5 grid produces a paytable that runs all the way up to eleven-of-a-kind. Coinciding wins are added together, so several symbols can pay on the same spin.
The wild lands on reels 3, 4 and 5 only, substitutes for everything except the Bonus and Scatter symbols, and carries a multiplier: 2x with one wild, 4x with two, 6x with three, applied to all wins on that spin. Three wilds across the right-hand reels is where the mega base game wins come from.
Jellyfish Collection Meter
A meter tracks every jellyfish symbol type, showing how many of each have been collected. When a symbol is in countdown, the meter switches to showing the current win multiplier instead. It’s the scoreboard for the free spins build, and it’s worth keeping half an eye on from the first spin.
Pays
The values below are the pays at the game’s default stake of 1.20, from three symbols up to the full eleven.
- Top premium symbol: 160 for 11, 100 for 10, 60 for 9, 40 for 8, 20 for 7, 10 for 6, 6 for 5, 3.20 for 4, 2.40 for 3
- Second premium: 32 for 11, 24 for 10, 20 for 9, 16 for 8, 10 for 7, 6 for 6, 4 for 5, 2.80 for 4, 2 for 3
- Third premium: 28 for 11, 20 for 10, 16 for 9, 10 for 8, 6 for 7, 4 for 6, 2.80 for 5, 2 for 4, 1.20 for 3
- Fourth and fifth premiums: 28 and 24 for 11, down to 1 for 3
- Low symbols: 12 for 11, 8 for 10, 5 for 9, 3.60 for 8, 2.80 for 7, 2 for 6, 1.20 for 5, 0.80 for 4, 0.40 for 3
The shape of that table tells the story: big gaps between the top two tiers and everything below, and lows that barely register. Wins come often enough at 32.2%, but the money lives in the premium symbols, stacked wilds and the features.
Juicy Jelly Thunder Ways Bonus Features
Thunder Respins
Landing three or more Bonus symbols on the right-hand reels starts the Thunder Respins. Three respins are awarded, and the reels change character completely: multipliers fill reels 1 and 2, prize symbols fill reels 3, 4 and 5, and nothing else lands.
Multipliers on the left can be 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x or 10x. An active row is created when two multipliers appear adjacent to each other in reels 1 and 2, and every standard prize symbol in that active row is multiplied by both multipliers and awarded.
Standard prize symbols carry values of 1x, 1 1/3x, 1 2/3x or 3 1/3x the total bet. The four bonus prizes are the real targets:
- Thunder Bonus: 1000x total bet
- Grand Bonus: 200x total bet
- Hot Bonus: 20x total bet
- Mini Bonus: 10x total bet
Bonus prizes pay anywhere they land and can land more than once per round, but they’re never multiplied in an active row. Respins reset to three whenever any prize is collected, and also reset if spins are used before more than 5x the bet has been awarded, which keeps rounds alive through lean patches.
Free Spins: Two Phases
Three Scatter symbols anywhere on reels 3, 4 and 5 triggers the Free Spins Feature, played at the bet of the triggering spin. During free spins only Wild, Scatter and Jellyfish symbols appear, and the round runs in two phases.
Phase 1 is the collection phase, and it’s uncapped. Every jellyfish symbol involved in a win is collected, each symbol type keeping its own tally, and the spins keep coming until any one collection reaches ten or more. The current spin completes, then the feature moves on.
Phase 2 is the payoff. The symbol that reached ten counts down over three spins: wins involving it are multiplied by 3x on the first spin, 5x on the second, and on the third spin every win, for any symbol, is multiplied by 5x. Multipliers that coincide on the same spin are multiplied together, not added.
Other symbols keep collecting during the countdown, and any collection that reaches ten starts its own three-spin countdown, which can overlap. When a countdown finishes, that symbol can start collecting again. Phase 2 ends only when no countdowns are running.
Retriggers
Three Scatters during either phase stores a retrigger rather than firing immediately. The current feature plays out first, then the game returns to Phase 1 with the collection status carried over. Multiple retrigger can be banked at once, which is where the long, escalating rounds come from.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.1/10
This is a game of deferred gratification dressed in candy colours. You drift along the reef on small wins, watching the jellyfish meter fill, and the reason to choose it over a thousand brighter alternatives is that the free spins round genuinely escalates – retrigger on top of retrigger, three symbols counting down at once, multipliers multiplying each other rather than adding.
That build is the strength, and it’s a real one: few collection mechanics let the round grow in so many directions at the same time. The weakness is that nothing else keeps up. The respins look like the louder feature but mostly pay single-digit multiples, and the base game is a waiting room with a nice view. One feature carries the weight of three.
So it comes down to appetite. Somebody who enjoys a slow build and a round that can run and run will get hours out of this reef; somebody after quick, brutal variance will find it polite. The divers who like the deep end have their game.
