Kraken’s Catch Slot Review
A white lighthouse over a churning inlet, reels lashed together from timber logs and bound with golden rope, a fishing line dangling off the right-hand post. Stakelogic‘s Kraken’s Catch hides a surprisingly ruthless economy inside that glossy cartoon coastline: the fish on the reels are barely symbols at all, they’re loose change that only pays when something arrives to pocket it. Strip the theme away and this is a game about waiting for a collector, which makes it more patient – and more conditional – than most fishing slots manage to be.
It runs on a 5×3 grid at 93.84% RTP with mid-to-high volatility, and it sits in familiar company alongside Sunken City Riches, Wild Wild Bass 2 and Devil’s Trap from the same studio’s shelf. The question is whether one collection mechanic can carry a whole game, and that’s what the rest of this looks at.
How the Base Game Pays
The anchor wild can land on all five reels, substitutes for every paying symbol and carries its own payout, which makes it the richest symbol on the sheet. Line wins pay left to right as usual. The real business of the base game, though, is the Fish.
Fish symbols land on any reel carrying multiplier values of the bet, and fish of different colours also form their own winning combination. Nothing collects itself: those values sit on the reels until something gathers them.
Symbol payouts, as multiples of the total bet:
- Fish (line win): 0.4x for three, 0.8x for four, 2.5x for five
- Wild (anchor, line win): 4x for three, 8x for four, 40x for five
Separately from their line wins, Fish carry collectable multiplier values. The full ladder of possible values runs:
- 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, 10x
- 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x, 100x
- 250x, 500x, 1,000x
Those values can be collected by the Fisherman or by the Eye of the Kraken, and by nothing else. Until one of them shows up, a screen full of Fish pays nothing beyond its line wins. The mid-section of that ladder is where the round-to-round money tends to sit, with the top three steps rare enough that reaching one changes the session rather than topping it up.
The Fisherman
The Fisherman is the first collector. He can land on any reel and gathers every visible Fish value. If he arrives carrying a multiplier of his own, he applies it to each value separately rather than to the combined total, which is a meaningful difference when several Fish share the screen.
There are limits. Only one of him appears per reel, and two on the same spin work side by side rather than in series: each gathers what he can see, and neither counts the other as a prize. Everything collected is added to the total win amount on top of any line wins already paid.
Call of the Kraken
The Eye of the Kraken appears only on reel 5, and when it lands it triggers the Call of the Kraken feature. After line wins are evaluated and paid, the Eye collects the values from every visible Fish symbol and every Fisherman symbol on the reels, awarding the combined total.
It works in both the base game and Free Spins, so a single spin can pay its line wins and then pay again on collection. There’s a condition worth knowing: if no Fish symbols are on the reels when the Eye lands, nothing is collected at all. The feature is only as good as what’s swimming beneath it.
Free Spins and the Global Multiplier
Free Spins awards 10 spins. The round is built around collecting Fisherman symbols: each one gathered wins extra free spins and increases a global multiplier that climbs as high as x5.
The multiplier applies across the whole round, so late-round spins with a built multiplier and a screen full of Fish values are where the money is. The Eye of the Kraken still triggers Call of the Kraken during Free Spins, which is what gives the round its ceiling.
What the round can put together in a single spin:
- Line wins from the fish, the wild and any other paying combination
- A Fisherman collection, multiplied x2 to x5 if he carries one
- The Eye of the Kraken sweeping every visible Fish and Fisherman value
- The global multiplier, up to x5, on top of it all
That stack is the scenario the whole design is angled towards. A full grid of Fish, a multiplied Fisherman and the Eye on reel 5 all resolving together is the round’s best case, and it’s the combination the extra spins from collected Fishermen are there to buy time towards.
Eye of the Deep
Eye of the Deep is a special spin you choose rather than trigger. It’s a single spin played on a full grid of Fish, Fisherman and Eye symbols, so almost every position carries a value or a collector.
One spin, everything live, high-reward potential by construction. It’s the concentrated version of what the base game spreads across dozens of ordinary spins, and the free spins RTP of 93.83% and the Eye of the Deep RTP of 93.84% barely differ, so the choice is about pacing rather than value. On a grid where collectors outnumber the spaces they don’t occupy, the Fisherman multiplier rules and the reel-five restriction on the Eye both still apply, which is what keeps the spin from simply printing the ladder.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
Playing Kraken’s Catch is mostly watching the water. Big value Fish drift past spin after spin and do nothing, because a Fish with no collector on screen is just decoration – that’s the tension the whole game runs on, and it’s exactly why somebody would pick it over the dozen other fishing slots on the shelf.
The best thing about it is that collectors stack. A Fisherman with a multiplier, an Eye on reel five and a global multiplier all working the same screen means one spin can resolve three times over. The worst thing is the price of admission: 93.84% RTP is well below what a mid-to-high volatility game usually offers, so those lean stretches between collectors cost more than they should.
If you like watching a value ladder build towards one big sweep and don’t mind paying for the privilege, this is your inlet. Players who want frequent small returns will find the tide here goes out for long stretches.
