Playboy Fortunes Slot Review
Red lacquer, gold fretwork and a glittering bunny head the size of a shield: Playboy Fortunes decks the famous brand out in Chinese New Year colours, all warm casino-red and heavy gilding, with a soft flare of spotlight spilling across the top of the cabinet. Strip the varnish away, though, and this is one of the most brutally economical builds you’ll meet: a single bonus round, one wild, and a rule that excludes the brand’s own symbol from the very multiplier the bonus exists to hand out. Gameburger Studios made a game that refuses to pay twice for its own name.
The headline maths is solid rather than spectacular: 96.24% RTP, medium volatility, a 5×3 grid over 20 fixed paylines, and a hit rate of 39.75%. Stakes run from 0.20 to 60.00 per spin. Its sibling Playboy Fortunes HyperSpins took this chassis and added respins in 2021; the original is the plainer cut, closer to Hyper Star in spirit than to anything elaborate.
Base Game & Features
Twenty fixed paylines carry the action, paying left to right from the first reel. A payline is a pattern of adjacent symbol positions running across the reels, and a win needs matching symbols on consecutive positions along one of those patterns. You can’t adjust the line count, so every spin covers all 20.
The payout arithmetic works like this:
- Each spin costs a total bet, which is the number of coins multiplied by the coin size
- The bet multiplier is the total bet divided by 10
- Payline wins are based on the initial bet: the total bet divided by the 20 lines played
- A spin’s total payout is the sum of all payline wins and scatter wins
- Where several combinations land on one line, only the highest pays
- The same highest-wins-only rule applies to scatter combinations
The wild substitutes for every symbol except the Playboy and Free Spin symbols, so it can’t manufacture either trigger. That’s its whole job, and it does it without fuss.
The Playboy symbol is a scatter. Three or more anywhere on screen pays, with the prize calculated against the total bet rather than the line bet, and added to any line wins. It can’t be substituted by the wild, and only the highest scatter combination counts. It’s the closest thing this game has to a second feature.
Autoplay runs in the base game only, and triggering the free spins stops a session immediately. Before it starts you can set:
- Spins: the number of automatic plays in the session
- Win limit: ends the session if a single win reaches the amount
- Loss limit: ends the session if the balance drops by the amount
- Total bet: the stake the session plays at, taken from the last bet value set
Because autoplay always plays at the last bet value, a stake has to be set before the session begins. The remaining spin count stays on screen while it runs, and the session ends on its own once the selected spins have played out.
The rest of the control set is standard cabinet furniture:
- Spin and Stop buttons, with tapping the reels also stopping a spin without affecting the result
- Bet increase and decrease buttons, plus a Max Bet shortcut to the 60.00 top stake
- Quickspin, which resolves spins faster but changes nothing about what lands
- Spacebar, which starts or stops a spin on desktop
- Separate toggles for game sounds and background music
If a spin is interrupted by a disconnection, the final game state is displayed on return and the balance is updated with the amount won or lost. Any feature in progress that needs interaction can be continued where it left off.
There are no per-symbol paytable values to itemise for this one. The paytable adjusts to the current stake, so any combination’s worth scales with whatever bet is set, and the displayed win-up-to figure is rounded down to roughly the highest achievable on a single spin.
Playboy Fortunes Free Spins Wheel
The feature needs three Free Spin scatter symbols, and they only count on the middle three reels. Those scatters form their own winning combination, the wild can’t stand in for them, and their wins are added to line wins.
Once triggered, the round plays out in three steps. The wheel spins once, stops on a single wedge, and that wedge sets everything: how many free spins you get and the multiplier attached to them. Both hold for the whole round.
- All line wins during free spins are multiplied by the wheel multiplier
- Free Spin scatter wins are also multiplied by the wheel multiplier
- Playboy symbol wins are the exception: they pay flat, at no multiplier
- Bets played are the same as on the triggering spin
- Lines played are the same as on the triggering spin
That Playboy carve-out is the detail worth knowing. The brand’s own symbol is the one prize the bonus round won’t amplify, which quietly caps how top-heavy a good round can get.
Retriggers work on the same terms:
- Three more Free Spin scatters on reels 2, 3 or 4 retrigger the feature
- The retrigger grants additional free spins equal to the amount initially awarded
- The multiplier stays at its original level
Nothing escalates. The round simply runs longer.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 6.4/10
Sitting down at Playboy Fortunes is a lot of waiting in a very handsome room. The base game gives you spins, a wild and a scatter, and the lacquered red-and-gold styling does its best to make that feel like an occasion. The one reason to choose it over shinier neighbours is that single wheel spin: one stop deciding your whole round, spin count and multiplier together, is a better hit of suspense than most five-feature games manage.
The retrigger terms are the strongest thing here. Extra spins match the original award at the original multiplier, so a lucky round keeps its full value the whole way. The ceiling is the problem: the Playboy symbol pays flat no matter what the wheel gave you, so the round can’t snowball the way the best versions of this format do.
This one’s for players who like their slots simple, honest and well-dressed, with medium volatility that won’t empty the wallet while the wheel decides your fate. If you want layered features and escalating rounds, the HyperSpins sequel is the better night out. The rest can settle into the bunny’s lounge; the drinks are fair and the house is polite.
Playboy Fortunes FAQs
-
How do you trigger the Free Spins Wheel in Playboy Fortunes?
Three Free Spin scatter symbols appearing anywhere on reels 2, 3 or 4 activate the Free Spins Wheel feature. The wild can’t substitute for these scatters, so the trigger has to land naturally. -
Does the Free Spins Wheel multiplier apply to all wins?
No. All line wins and Free Spin scatter wins during the round are multiplied by the wheel multiplier, but Playboy symbol wins are excluded and pay flat regardless of the multiplier in play. -
Can the free spins retrigger in Playboy Fortunes?
Yes. Three Free Spin scatters landing again on reels 2, 3 or 4 grant additional free spins equal to the amount initially awarded, at the same multiplier level. -
What does the wild substitute for in Playboy Fortunes?
The wild substitutes for all symbols except the Playboy symbol and the Free Spin scatter. It can help complete line wins, but it can’t trigger or boost either of the game’s special symbol combinations. -
How are Playboy symbol wins calculated in Playboy Fortunes?
The Playboy symbol is a scatter, so three or more anywhere on screen pays. The prize is calculated by multiplying the scatter combination’s value by the total bet, then added to any line wins. Only the highest scatter combination pays. -
What is the RTP of Playboy Fortunes?
The RTP is 96.24%, which sits above the industry average. That figure is the total expected return for the game. -
Is Playboy Fortunes high volatility?
No, it’s a medium volatility slot, with a hit frequency of 39.75%. Wins land often enough to keep sessions moving without the long droughts of a high-variance game. -
What are the minimum and maximum bets on Playboy Fortunes?
Stakes run from 0.20 to 60.00 per spin across 20 fixed paylines. The same bet and line configuration that triggered the free spins carries through the bonus round.
