Possessed Fortunes

Possessed Fortunes Slot Review

A fortune-teller stands in a haunted twilight forest, balancing a glowing magenta orb on her open palm while molten light flickers up from the underworld below. Possessed Fortunes hides its sharpest idea in that orb and in the respin behind it, and a player who dismisses this as a pretty five-liner will miss where the money actually is.

The grid hangs inside an ornate carved frame like a painting suspended in the woods, all purple-and-ember gothic in a hand-painted cartoon style. Maxxi Labs has dressed a modest set of reels in some of the lushest artwork you’ll see on a five-liner.

It runs on a 3×3 grid with five paylines, paying left to right from the leftmost reel, and there’s no volatility figure to report. The studio’s other work includes Mad Ducks and Skulls and Souls Bonanza Coin Grid.

Whether the features underneath all that candlelight justify the framing is the question worth settling before the reels start turning.

Base Game & Features

Five paylines is the whole board. Wins have to start on the leftmost reel and run left to right across adjacent reels, and only the best combination on each line gets paid. Two winning combinations on the same line don’t stack; the higher one takes the lot.

Wild symbols can substitute for any High or Low symbol, and they apply to every winning combination that passes through them. They can’t stand in for anything else the game offers.

Four things can happen outside the base spin, and all of them arrive without warning:

• Respin Feature – randomly triggered during any spin
• Possessed Spins – randomly triggered while the reels are spinning
• Random Multiplier – the host’s orb reveals a multiplier during any spin
• Wild substitution – Wilds stand in for High or Low symbols on any line

None of the four has a symbol to collect or a meter to fill. Every trigger is decided by the game alone, which puts the whole experience in the hands of timing rather than target-hunting.

Symbol Values

All pays are for three-of-a-kind on a payline, as a multiple of the line stake:

• Voodoo Doll – 5x
• Spell Book – 2x
• Candles – 1.6x
• Orange Potion Bottle – 1x
• Green Potion Bottle – 0.6x
• Purple Potion Bottle – 0.4x

It’s a compressed ladder. Six symbols, one pay tier each, and the top symbol returns five times the line stake. The three potion bottles carry the low end, with the purple returning less than half the line stake.

The symbols split into a High group and a Low group: the Voodoo Doll, Spell Book and Candles sit at the top, and the three potion bottles fill the bottom.

There’s no two-of-a-kind tier and no four- or five-symbol step. Every win in the game is a three-symbol line, which keeps the paytable easy to read and the ceiling low.

Respin Feature

The Respin Feature may be randomly triggered during any spin. When it fires, a symbol is randomly chosen, and the reels will then consist of only that chosen symbol, the Wild symbol, or a blank space.

After the reels land, any chosen or Wild symbols that appear become sticky, and the blank spaces respin again. The feature keeps respinning the blanks for as long as new chosen or Wild symbols land. When a respin brings nothing new, the feature ends and the accumulated win is settled.

Only chosen symbols and Wilds count for sticking. Any other symbol that lands in a blank during a respin is discarded for the purposes of the feature, so a respin sequence is always working towards a single-symbol board plus Wilds, never a mixed one.

There’s a bonus for a clean sweep. If all symbols on the reels contribute to wins when the feature finishes, the total win is multiplied by 10x. That fill-the-board payout is where the respin’s real potential sits, and it’s the one number in the game that can lift a three-of-a-kind ladder into serious territory.

Random Multiplier

During any spin, the multiplier orb held by the host reveals either a blank, x2, x5 or x10. A revealed multiplier applies to all wins on that spin before they’re paid; a blank means the orb contributed nothing to the result.

Because the multiplier applies to everything the spin pays, it stacks cleanly with the wild substitution and with any lines the respin collects. At x10 the orb can turn a modest three-symbol line into something worth watching. At blank it’s decoration, and there’s no way to influence which one you get.

Possessed Fortunes Possessed Spins & Bonus Features

Possessed Spins may be randomly triggered during any spin while the reels are moving, and they award 8 free spins. There’s no scatter to land and no symbol to collect; the game simply takes over when it decides to.

The round changes one thing, and it’s a meaningful one: the multiplier reel is expanded, and 2 or 3 multipliers are awarded on each of the 8 spins. Every free spin carries its own guaranteed multiplier draw, rather than the single blank-or-boost roll the base game’s orb gives you.

Stack that against the base paytable and the shape of the game becomes clear. Three-symbol lines that pay 5x at best can each be lifted by multipliers drawn two or three at a time, spin after spin, for the full round.

The two bonus systems stay separate. Possessed Spins doesn’t absorb the Respin Feature or change how the paylines work; it takes the base game’s win logic and multiplies it harder, more often, for eight consecutive spins.

Buy Feature

There’s a buy option that instantly triggers Possessed Spins, via the gold BUY button in the bottom-left of the base-game screen. The cost:

• 8 Possessed Spins – 25x total bet

The purchase skips the base game entirely and goes straight to the expanded multiplier reel. What 25x actually buys is 8 spins that each draw 2 or 3 multipliers; the size of those multipliers isn’t fixed, and the game doesn’t publish the odds behind them.

The buy covers the same round a random trigger awards, at the same spin count, so the price is the only difference between buying in and waiting. Whether waiting is worth 25x of patience is a question the reels answer themselves.

Our Honest Verdict

Overall Rating: 7.1/10

Playing Possessed Fortunes feels like consulting a fortune-teller who only answers one question well. You’re there for the respin and the orb, and everything else is the waiting room in between. When a sticky-symbol run starts filling the board, it grips in a way five paylines have no right to.

The 10x full-board bonus is the best idea here. It gives the respin a destination rather than just a mechanic, and Possessed Spins doubling the multiplier draws keeps the back half of a session alive.

But the base ladder lets it down. With every win a three-symbol line topping out at 5x the line stake, the stretches between features are lean, and nothing about the artwork changes that.

This one is for players who like a handful of strong random modifiers and don’t need a wide grid to feel entertained. Anyone who measures a slot by its paytable depth will run out of things to look at long before the forest goes dark.
