Primal Buffalo PowerGrid

Primal Buffalo PowerGrid Slot Review

Most collect-and-hold slots give you one board to fill and let you stare at it while the timer runs down. The reels bolted into this sun-bleached ranch-house facade, red mesas and circling birds behind them, are split down the middle: two collection grids, two timers, two races to lose. That’s the whole reason to sit down here.

Primal Buffalo PowerGrid is Booming Games doing a hold-and-collect build with two collection grids running side by side, and that doubling is the interesting bet. It plays on a 4x5x5x5x4 grid with 10,000 ways to win, and the RTP is 96.10%. The free spins round and a 100x bonus buy sit alongside.

It keeps familiar company: Buffalo Hold and Win Extreme 10,000 covers similar ground, as do Bang Bang Reloaded and Raccoon Raiders. Let’s see what the desert pays.

Base Game & Features

Wins pay across 10,000 ways on the 4x5x5x5x4 grid, so matching symbols simply need to land on adjacent reels from the left. No winlines to trace, no left-to-right patterns to hold in your head. The grid’s shape, taller in the middle than at the edges, is what makes room for the two collection zones.

The one-sentence version of the base game: wilds appear on reels two through six, a bonus symbol sits on reel one, and everything else is really about the coins. Wilds substitute for the standard paying symbols on the five reels they occupy. The bonus symbol doesn’t pay on its own; it’s one half of the free spins trigger, covered below.

PowerGrid

The PowerGrid mechanic is the heart of the game, and there are two of them: a left PowerGrid covering reels two and three, and a right PowerGrid covering reels four and five. Coin symbols carrying credit values land on those reels and are held in place. Everything else in the game flows from what happens to those held coins.

Held coins stay for three spins, tracked by a counter on screen. If no new coin lands within those three spins, every coin in that PowerGrid is cleared. Each new coin that does land resets the countdown. So the mechanic works as a slow, negotiated build: one coin buys you three more spins of grace, and a run of empty reels wipes the slate.

A PowerGrid is won one of two ways: every position in it fills with coins, or a Collect outcome lands on the Ultra Prize Reel for that side. Coins within a PowerGrid can only be won once.

One quietly generous detail: your coin progression is saved per bet level. Changing stakes doesn’t throw away a half-built grid, because each stake has its own saved state waiting when you return to it.

Ultra Prize Reel

Whenever one or more coins land, the Ultra Prize Reel spins on reel one for the left PowerGrid or reel six for the right. It awards one of four things to the grid it serves: a Prize Pot, a credit value, a multiplier, or a Collect. The Collect is a base game outcome only.

The reel’s values are fixed multiples of the total bet, and they’re worth laying out plainly:

• Coin values: 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, 10x the total bet
• Multipliers: x2, x4, x5, x6, x7, applied to all coins in the corresponding PowerGrid and converted into a coin value of multiplier times total bet
• MINI Prize Pot: 20x
• MINOR Prize Pot: 50x
• MAJOR Prize Pot: 250x

A multiplier applies to everything sitting in its grid at that moment, which is what makes a crowded PowerGrid worth protecting. The converted value lands as a coin, so it then follows the same hold-and-clear rules as any other. A Collect, meanwhile, banks the lot immediately.

RTP and Maximum Win

This game shows a progressive jackpot, and the RTP is 96.10%. The maximum win is 2,150x the bet. What you can size up is the prize ladder above: a MAJOR at 250x is the biggest fixed marker on record, with the jackpot sitting outside that structure entirely.

Primal Buffalo PowerGrid Free Spins & Bonus

Free Spins

The free spins round triggers on bonus or wheel symbols, and the more of them, the better the award:

• 4 bonus/wheel symbols: 8 free spins
• 5 bonus/wheel symbols: 10 free spins
• 6 bonus/wheel symbols: 12 free spins

Retriggers are possible, and they add the same number of spins as the round started with. Free spins also run independently of the base game: any coins sitting in your PowerGrids when the round starts are set aside and restored when you return.

Anything left in the grids when the round finishes is paid out at the end of free spins. The whole round plays at the bet value that activated it.

Buy Bonus

If you’d rather skip the wait, the bonus can be bought outright for 100x your bet, and buying it guarantees the feature triggers. The essentials:

• Cost: 100x the total bet
• Guarantee: the bonus feature triggers after purchase
• Availability: may be limited or unavailable where the total cost exceeds the maximum bet limits an operator or market sets

Our Honest Verdict

Overall Rating: 7/10

Playing this is watching two half-finished towers at once, and that’s the one reason to choose it over any single-board collect game: the desert never sits still, because one grid is always nearer to paying than the other. You end up caring about empty reels more than winning ones.

The strength is that every coin lands with a decision already attached to it, and a grid that’s been filling for a while is genuinely tense. The weakness is the payout end of the ladder: for a game built on slow accumulation, MINI at 20x and MINOR at 50x are thin rewards, and 250x for the MAJOR is the only fixed number worth chasing.

This is for players who enjoy the build itself, who’ll happily grind a stake up through saved coin states for a shot at the x7. Anyone chasing big printed ceilings will find the horizon empty. For the patient ones, the ranch house pays out eventually, and the wait is the game.
