The Bomb Slot Review
A round black cartoon bomb with big googly eyes and a lit fuse sits wedged between the letters of a plank sign, grinning down at a timber crate of dark earth dug into a red-rock desert canyon. For a game that hangs its whole identity on demolition, very little actually blows up here: the base game pays modestly, the TNT blast is more theatre than payout, and the real money sits in one bonus round.
Hacksaw Gaming built this one for their pocket-format mobile line. It runs at 95.17% RTP on a 5×5 cluster-pays grid, with stakes from 0.20 to 150 per spin and a maximum win of 5,500x the bet.
That puts it in the same explosive territory as Joker Bombs and Chaos Crew, with Le Bandit the closest cousin in the studio’s catalogue.
Base Game & Features
Wins land as clusters rather than lines. You need five or more connecting symbols of the same kind anywhere on the 5×5 grid, and once a win pays, those symbols are cleared away and fresh ones drop in to fill the gaps.
If the new symbols form another win, the cascade keeps going until no more combinations appear. Only the highest win per winning way is paid, and multiple wins in a single round are added together.
The wild completes clusters by substituting for every symbol except the Bonus scatter and TNT, and a single wild can contribute to more than one winning cluster at a time. That’s its entire job, and it does it quietly.
TNT Feature
TNT symbols arrive on the grid and detonate once the normal round has finished, with any regular wins paid out first. Each TNT blast clears a 3×3 cluster of symbols, and new symbols drop in to replace them.
It’s a modifier, not a bonus round. The paytable doesn’t change and the blast carries no multiplier of its own; the grid just gets reshuffled after the result is settled, and any cluster the new symbols happen to form pays at the normal rates.
Paytable
All values are multiples of the total bet:
- Red bomb: 120x for 15+ symbols, 32x for 13-14, 19x for 11-12, 12x for 9-10, 6x for 7-8, 1x for 5-6
- Blue missile: 50x for 15+, 25x for 13-14, 15x for 11-12, 10x for 9-10, 4x for 7-8, 0.75x for 5-6
- Yellow flare and green clock: 40x for 15+, 20x for 13-14, 12x for 11-12, 8x for 9-10, 3x for 7-8, 0.5x for 5-6
- Green square, yellow hexagon and orange circle: 24x for 15+, 12x for 13-14, 8x for 11-12, 5x for 9-10, 0.5x for 7-8, 0.1x for 5-6
- Triangle: 20x for 15+, 10x for 13-14, 5x for 11-12, 5x for 9-10, 0.5x for 7-8, 0.1x for 5-6
- Red diamond: 20x for 15+, 10x for 13-14, 5x for 11-12, 5x for 9-10, 0.1x for 7-8, 0.1x for 5-6
The gap between the top symbol and everything under it is steep. Beyond the red bomb and the blue missile, the tiers fall away fast, and small clusters of the low shapes return fractions of the bet. That ceiling on base game payouts tells you where this game keeps its real money.
The rest of the visual identity lives in the setting rather than the symbols: a chunky timber crate with visible grain and corner bolts, dark earth interior, all of it drawn thick-outlined and hand-drawn. It reads well on a phone screen, which is exactly what the pocket format is for.
Cascades do the base game’s heavy lifting. Each cleared win reshuffles the grid, and a lucky drop can chain several small payouts into one respectable round before the TNT blast even gets its turn.
The Bomb Bonus Game
Three Bonus scatter symbols anywhere on the grid trigger the bonus game. The scene changes completely: instead of symbol clusters, you get a total multiplier counter at the top of the screen and a Max Win progress bar beside it.
Symbols cascade into this round in two types. Dead symbols are rocks that do nothing and clog the grid. Mystery crates reveal their contents after each drop, and a crate can hold one of four things:
- Nothing at all, which is the crate’s way of laughing at you
- An “add” multiplier: +1, +2, +3, +4, +5 or +10, added to the running total
- A “multiply” multiplier: x2, x3, x4, x5 or x10, applied to the current total
- A Max Win progression symbol, which fills one slot on the progress bar
After each round, dead rocks collapse and the remaining symbols drop to the bottom, with new symbols falling in to fill the empty spaces. Once the grid has filled with crates, all multipliers are added to the total displayed at the top.
The final win equals that number multiplied by your bet. Collect five Max Win progression symbols and the round instead pays the game’s full maximum win and ends immediately, with no further wins awarded.
That 5,500x ceiling is the prize the whole bonus round is built around, and the x10 multiply crates are the fastest route to it. The order of reveals matters as much as the values: an add multiplier landing early inflates the base the multiply crates work on later.
A x10 crate means very different things on a total of three than on a total of thirty. Empty crates and rocks, meanwhile, simply take up space and thin the round out.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7/10
Playing The Bomb mostly means waiting. The base game is a tidy little cascade loop with a friendly googly-eyed bomb watching from the plank sign, but the wins trickle, and you spin mostly in the hope of three scatters. That hope is the reason to pick it up, because when the bonus arrives the game becomes something else entirely.
The crate round is the best part of the game, and it earns that on pacing: every drop changes the maths, an early x10 can turn a nothing round into a serious one, and five progression symbols keep a second prize live alongside the multiplier total. The weakness is everything around it. Outside the bonus there’s very little to chew on, and the TNT blast looks dramatic while changing almost nothing.
It suits players who want a short, phone-friendly session where one triggered round decides the day, and it will leave cold anyone who enjoys a base game that pays its way between features. Light the fuse if that round is what you came for.
