Tomb Lords Slot Review
Most of Tomb Lords’ paytable barely matters. Jackal-headed guardians with glowing pink eyes flank a cracked stone doorway, hand-drawn in saturated neon, and the symbols spinning inside it pay modestly at best; the real money in this tomb doesn’t sit on the paytable at all, it sits in the wilds that grow across the reels. That’s a bold way to build a game, and it’s the reason to care about this one.
It’s a Backseat Gaming title in the same catalogue as Hades’ Domain, Infernus and Firelord, and it runs on a 5×5 grid with 15 fixed paylines, an RTP of 96.01% and a maximum win of 25,000x the bet. The reels sit inside a cracked stone doorway carved with hieroglyphs, and something in that tomb is worth waking up.
Base Game & Features
Wins need at least three matching symbols on adjacent reels from the left, across one of the 15 lines. It’s a conventional setup for an unconventional-looking game, and the 5×5 grid gives the reels room to breathe without changing how a win is formed. Only the highest combination on each line counts, and wins on separate lines add together. The paytable is dynamic, so the values shown shift with your bet size.
The symbol set keeps faith with the tomb. Three premium characters sit at the top, then a run of Egyptian iconography, then the card royals at the bottom. Here’s what each one pays, as a multiple of the total bet:
- Blue Flame Mummy: 25x for five
- Red Mummy mask: 25x for five
- Pharaoh: 25x for five
- Golden Scarab: 1.5x for three, 7.5x for four, 15x for five
- Anubis: 1x for three, 5x for four, 10x for five
- Crossed Flails: 0.7x for three, 3.5x for four, 7x for five
- Ankh: 0.5x for three, 2.5x for four, 5x for five
- K, A: 0.1x for three, 0.5x for four, 1.5x for five
- 10, J, Q: 0.1x for three, 0.5x for four, 1x for five
The three premium characters pay only for a full line of five, which tells you where the game’s priorities sit: the bottom of the table is for keeping the balance moving, and the top is a rare treat. The scarab, like the other middle-tier symbols, doubles in value from four to five.
The Wild symbol substitutes for all regular symbols, and it pays like the best of them: five wilds on a line returns 25x the total bet, matching the three premium characters at the top of the table. It’s the joint-biggest payer in the game.
The Bonus Symbol
The Bonus symbol appears only in the base game mode, capped at one landing per reel. It’s a collection mechanic in the classic mould, building towards the bonus rounds while the tomb’s guardians look on. During the bonus games it steps out of the way entirely, leaving the board to the wild machinery.
The Trigger Symbol
The Trigger symbol is an eye icon, and it’s available in every game mode. Only one can land per spin. It acts as a Wild, substituting for all paying symbols, but its real job is what it sets off: when it lands, it activates highlighted reels and spawns new Wild Reels.
That makes it the one symbol in the game that’s worth more for what it does than what it pays. Five of them on a line still returns 25x the total bet, in line with the wild, but the reels it wakes up are where the money is.
The sequence matters. The eye lands, the highlighted reels switch on, and the spawned Wild Reels take their place on the board carrying a tier and a multiplier. From there, every winning combination those reels participate in makes them grow. One symbol, three steps, and a spin that started as nothing has machinery on it.
Tomb Lords Wild Reels and Bonus Games
Wild Reels are the heart of Tomb Lords, and they come in three distinct tiers: Blue, Red and Yellow. A Wild Reel expands whenever it takes part in a winning combination. In the bonus games the brake comes off, and they expand on every spin instead. Growth is the mechanic, not a one-off trick.
Each tier carries its own set of multipliers, and they climb with the tier. The Blue tier’s available values are:
- 2x
- 3x
- 4x
- 5x
- 6x
- 7x
- 8x
- 9x
The Red and Yellow tiers carry their own multiplier ranges. The step from one tier to the next is where a round stops being a decent hit and starts being something the 25,000x ceiling has to be there for.
Because the Trigger symbol can land in all game modes, Wild Reels can start before any bonus round does. A single eye icon in the base game is enough to light up the highlighted reels and put expanding wilds on the board, which keeps the 5×5 grid from ever feeling entirely idle. The bonus games then take the same mechanic and remove the condition: no win required, the wilds grow anyway.
What that means in practice is momentum. A base-game reel that’s already expanded carries that growth into the bonus round, where it expands again on every spin, and each expansion is another chance for a higher multiplier from the tier’s set. The bonus games don’t introduce a second mechanic; they turn the first one up and take its leash off.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
Playing Tomb Lords is waiting for the eye. Almost every spin is ordinary, then one Trigger symbol lands and the tomb comes to life, reels switching on and wilds spreading across the grid. The neon guardians and the magenta chamber make that moment look great, and the game knows it, because the base game does little else.
Its strength is that the wilds compound: growth in the base game carries into a bonus round where they grow on every spin, so a good round builds and keeps building rather than paying once. Its weakness is everything around that. The paytable is thin, the premium symbols need a full line of five to pay even 25x, and long stretches come down to royals and patience.
This is one for players who enjoy a slow build to a big mechanic, and who won’t mind quiet reels to get there. Anyone after frequent decent line hits will find the tomb empty. For the patient ones, the pink eyes are worth the wait.
