Tower Quest Legacy Slot Review
A losing spin in Tower Quest Legacy can still be a good spin. That’s the bet Play’n GO has made here: instead of paying out features at random, the game banks your flasks on two side meters and lets you decide when to spend them, so even a round that pays nothing moves you closer to a re-spin with three fully wild reels. Plenty of slots have tried collection mechanics and produced busywork. This one ties every level of the meters to something worth having.
The frame is a crumbling fantasy tower at dusk, all mossy rubble and glaring gargoyles, and it’s cousin to the studio’s outings like Rise of Merlin and Legend of the Ice Dragon. Underneath the paint it’s a 5×4 grid with 20 paylines, 96.28% RTP and high volatility. The dragons on the pillars are decorative. The flasks are what guard this tower’s money.
Reels, Lines and the Dark Tower Wild
Five reels, four symbol rows and 20 fixed paylines. All wins pay left to right from the leftmost reel, and only the highest combination counts on each line. Multiple line wins in one round are added together, and feature winnings stack on top of payline wins.
The Dark Tower is the wild, substituting for everything except the scatters, and it can land on any reel. There are two scatter families: the Red and Blue Flask Scatters, which feed the side meters, and the Wizard, which is the Bonus Scatter that unlocks the card battle. Up to five Flask Scatters can appear in a single spin.
The Flask Meters
Collection is the engine here. A Red Flask meter sits on the right and a Blue Flask meter sits on the left, each with three levels:
- Red 10 flasks: Empowered Wilds, 5 free spins
- Red 20 flasks: Wild Adventurers, 5 free spins
- Red 30 flasks: Everburning Wilds, 5 free spins, automatic
- Blue 5 flasks: The Tower, 1 re-spin
- Blue 10 flasks: Battle of the Wilds, 1 re-spin
- Blue 15 flasks: Towers of Dark Power, 1 re-spin, automatic
Red flasks buy free spins, blue flasks buy re-spins, and each meter’s final level fires automatically once it’s full. Below the top level, only the most recently unlocked tier can be activated manually, by clicking the button linked to the meter.
So you’re choosing when to spend a lower-tier feature or keep collecting towards the bigger one. Flask collection is stored against your total bet, and your progress is kept if you leave the game and come back.
Red Flask Features
All three red levels award five free spins. None of them carry the Bonus Scatter or any Flask Scatters, so the features can’t feed themselves while they run. What changes is what the wilds do.
Empowered Wilds
Unlocked at 10 red flasks. Every win connected to a wild is multiplied by 3x. If several wilds connect on the same payline, the multiplier still applies at 3x, so the value comes from lining wilds into paying positions rather than stacking them.
Wild Adventurers
Unlocked at 20 red flasks. The male and female Elven Warrior icons become extra wilds, substituting for everything in the feature. Five spins with two extra wild symbols in play is a straightforward upgrade on the base level.
Everburning Wilds
The full-meter reward at 30 red flasks, triggered automatically. A sticky wild is added at the end of every free spin and stays in place for the rest of the round, so by the final spin the reels can be carrying four extra wilds.
Blue Flask Features
The blue meter pays out in single re-spins rather than free spin batches, and the same exclusion applies: no Wizard, no flasks. Shorter rounds, but they arrive sooner, with the first level just five flasks away.
The Tower
Unlocked at five blue flasks. One re-spin in which the middle reel turns entirely wild and doubles all wins. A guaranteed wild reel is a strong start for the cheapest feature on either meter.
Battle of the Wilds
Unlocked at 10 blue flasks. One re-spin where the character and creature icons become extra wilds, substituting for everything in the round.
Towers of Dark Power
The automatic reward at 15 blue flasks. One re-spin with reels 1, 3 and 5 fully wild. Three guaranteed wild reels on a 20-line game is the single most powerful state the base grid can reach, and it’s the reason to let the blue meter run.
The Bonus Game
Landing Wizards on reels 1, 3 and 5 starts the card battle. You pick the female or male Elven Warrior, then pick three cards each round. Adjacent cards fight, comparing attack values against health, and every Wizard card you defeat awards a random prize and damages the enemy.
Two specials can swing a battle. Picking two identical cards triggers a Special Attack, and three identical cards triggers a Superpower, which doubles the attack value of the owner’s cards. Each warrior has a named attack, and the Wizard casts Voidborne Hex.
The warrior you choose and the cards you pick are engagement, not strategy. The prizes are fixed either way.
- Win the battle and one of these is awarded at random: 7x, 8x, 10x, 12x, 15x, 20x, 30x, 50x, 80x or 140x the total bet
- Draw the battle and one of these is awarded at random: 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 7x, 8x, 9x or 10x the total bet
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
This is a slow game, deliberately. Long stretches of the base game are about the meters rather than the wins, and the reason to choose it is exactly that: the sense of building towards something you chose, rather than waiting for a scatter to fall out of the sky. The tower doesn’t crumble for just anyone.
The best thing here is the manual-activation rule. Because you fire the features yourself, every flask is a small decision, and the payoff at the top of the blue meter, three fully wild reels, is worth the patience it asks for. The worst thing is the red meter’s value for effort: ten or twenty flasks collected for five spins with a modest wild tweak can land flat, and the card battle looks richer than it plays since your choices change nothing.
If you’re the sort who likes a meter to fill and a game that remembers your progress, this is one of the better versions of that idea. If you want your features fast and your ceilings stated, the flasks will feel like a toll before the fun. Worth the climb for patient players; everyone else can stay at the foot of the tower.
