Money Train
Released in August 2019, the original Money Train slot rolled onto the tracks amid the Wild Western hype, and taking players on a highly-volatile adventure across five reels and 40 paylines, introducing a gang of gun-toting bandits robbing a train carriage.
The highlight is the Money Cart Bonus Round. The bonus whisks you to a different part of the train, with Hold & Win mechanics and special symbols each having its own unique “power,” such as the Widener, which opens an additional reel.
Money Train shot to fame through multiple viral social media moments as many hit the max win in the Bonus, but nobody knew that Money Train and its carriage of sequels would eventually go on to become one of the biggest slot franchises in the world, even spawning its own Slingo variant with Gaming Realms in 2023.
Money Train 2
Capitalising on the hype train of the original, Money Train 2 arrived a little over a year later in 2020, swapping dusty saloons for a grittier, steampunk affair as the second game significantly upgraded the features, the volatility, and max win potential.
Relax clearly took player feedback into consideration, making graphical improvements here and there while cranking up every other aspect of the game, including the boosted RTP to 96.4% (up to 98% with the bonus buy active) and a more-than-doubled max win jump to 50,000x.
If the first proved that the concept worked, the second proved it could evolve without losing what made it so great in the first place, setting the standard for the games to follow.
Money Train 3
After an intense two-year wait, Money Train 3 was released in 2022, throwing out the rulebook and swapping out a traditional, steam-powered locomotive for something a little more futuristic on this chrome-edged train.
The base game respin feature is back again to potentially turn dead spins into something more worthwhile, while the Money Cart bonus is bigger and better than ever.

Money Train Origins: Dream Drop
Taking the Money Train back to its origin station where things all began, there’s Money Train Origins Dream Drop.
The gang are united again and reliving their glory days with a fresh coat of paint in the original Wild West setting, with a couple of new recruits in the Banker and the Healer.
The twist here is the Dream Drop bolted onto the familiar formula, giving players the chance to chase a life-changing progressive jackpot on top of the usual Money Cart chaos.
Money Train 4
Marketed as the final destination in the series, Money Train 4 was set to wrap up the series in 2023 with the biggest win the franchise has ever seen – a staggering 150,000x bet.
Jetting players to an off-world setting this time around, Relax Gaming raised the bar with the number of new and improved features: twenty-plus modifiers, with an expanded 6×6 grid, and new additions like the Arms Dealer and the Upgrader to make sure the series went out with a bang… Or so we thought.
Money Train 5
While the fourth instalment was literally named “The Last Stand”, it seems that Relax weren’t quite done with the franchise yet, with highly-anticipated apocalyptic-themed Money Train 5 releasing in September 2026.
Bucking the trend of each instalment being bigger than the last, Money Train 5 represents a huge departure from the series’ established formula so far, with a dialled back max win, two separate game modes (Standard and Ultra) and, shocker, a Nuclear Wild feature to jazz up the base game.
Many fan-favourite characters make a reappearance, alongside some new faces like the Ticket Master, Pyromancer, and Bomber, with a progressive upgrade system tying everything together as players advance through the stations.
As we’ve learned from Money Train 4, you never know when the final stop could be – it’s possible several more Money Train games could be in the pipeline.
Money Cart Slots
Worth a mention too are the Money Cart releases – Money Cart, Money Cart 2, Money Cart 3, and Money Cart 4 – built specifically for the bonus-buy-restricted markets.
These spin-offs take the same characters and mechanics of the main games, just solely stripped back to what players really care about: the bonus action. Rather than forcing players into a thankless base game grind, these versions steam straight ahead, going directly into the Hold & Win-style Money Cart chaos, using a concept called Bonus Reels.
In November 2022, Relax Gaming also released the Money Sleigh slot, as a festive clone of Money Cart 3. The train itself is replaced by Santa’s sleigh and the bandits are all reimagined as reindeer, elves, snowmen, and the big man himself.
Honourable Mentions: Money Plane
The gang’s heists don’t just extend to locomotives, the guys are taking to the skies in Money Plane, a crash game spin-off veering away from the slot-based mechanics of the main Money Train series.
It’s a semi-Aviator-style crash game where players can tweak their volatility from five options, with each level walking players through the different Money Train environments, from a standard Western town to a futuristic off-world space camp.
The train plays an important role, acting as both the landing and take-off point, as players take flight to gather multipliers and power-ups, with the aim of landing safe and sound on the ground rather than crashing and burning. Miss the landing pad, though, and all the goodies gathered are lost.
While not your average slot, Money Plane shows exactly the kind of innovation Relax Gaming are known for – that the sky is literally the limit. Maybe Money Submarine will be next on the agenda?
Final Thoughts
One of the best things about the Money Train series is the clear sense of progression from the 2019 original to now – it’s crazy to see how far the series has come almost a decade later.
While Money Train 4 was considered the ‘last stand’ for many, it seems that Money Train 5 has made no such promises as the franchise continues to chug along with this latest addition. Who knows, maybe we’ll still be here 20 years from now and Money Train 15 will be around the corner.
