Lava Lava Base Game and Features

Lava Lava is a 5 reel slot with 15 fixed pay lines. To form a win, you will need to connect 3 or more of the same symbols from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.

Exploding Scatters

Each time a Scatter symbol lands, it will Explode.

Once this happens, all high and low paying symbols Horizontally and Vertically will be removed from the reels.

Once the symbols are removed, new symbols will fall via an Avalanche, filling all the empty positions and possibly creating even more winning combinations.

Each Scatter that lands are collected and stored on the Bonus meter.

Wild Multipliers

All Wild symbols that land on the reels are all equipped with a set Multiplier.

The Free Spins round will be triggered once 3 Scatters are collected, awarding 10 Free Spins.

Once active, all winning combinations during the Free Spins round will trigger the Avalanche feature.

Avalanche Feature

Each time a winning combination is formed, all winning symbols will be removed from the reels and new symbols will fall via an Avalanche, filling all the empty positions and possibly creating even more winning combinations.

The Avalanche feature works differently here than it does in the base game, where a Scatter symbol is required to activate the Avalanche feature.

During the Free Spins round, between 1 and 3 Wild symbols can be added to the reels in random positions. Each Wild symbol that lands have 3 Lives that protects it from being destroyed during the Avalanche feature. With each Free Spin, the Wild symbol will lose a life.

Collecting 3 Scatters during the Free Spins round, awards an additional +5 Free Spins.

Lava Lava: Our Verdict

Lava Lava bears a significant resemblance to Quickspin’s Hammer of Vulcan in some ways, but it also has that classic Thunderkick feel to it with areas of the game that remind us of previous titles, like Midas Golden Touch, which remains a firm favourite among players.

Compared to some of the weird and wonderful ways in which providers are trying to reinvent the wheel, you feel like Thunderkick sticks to more traditional methods with gameplay that is easy to understand, but exciting nonetheless.

Now and then we see a thing or two from the provider that proves that they can stray from the conventional norms if the mood takes them right, but for the most part Thunderkick likes to present their games in a way that makes sense to players everywhere, rather than just those with a keen eye for some of the more complicated slots.

Riders of the Storm, the entire Beat the Beast series, Pyramyth and Sword of Khans are quite simplistic, if you sit to think about it for a moment, but if you were to create a list of firm thunderkick favourites, we bet they’re there at the top. Lava Lava is very much alike them, but the attractive part about Lava Lava is its exciting potential, incredible presentation and overall quality.

Lava Lava emodies the volatile and sometimes harsh nature of a Volcano through its gameplay, and it really does translate into something that players can get very excited about. Those hardy enough to bear the brunt of molten lava and volcanic ash my find themselves standing with 10,000x to show for their efforts at its very best, but prepare and accept that you may get burned in the process.

Overall, we don’t think Lava Lava stands out any more than any other Thunderkick title, but that’s more of a testament to some of their consistently great games than a snub to Lava Lava.
