Ante Bet

At the start of a game round, you will be given the option to activate the Ante Bet Feature. Choosing to activate this feature will increase your current bet by 50%. Once active, your chances of triggering the Bonus Game are naturally higher.

Scatters

During gameplay, whenever 2 Scatter symbols appear in view, there is a random chance for a 3rd Scatter to be introduced from outside the reel set, thus triggering the Bonus Game.

Bonus Game

Landing 3 or more Bonus Scatters in the base game triggers the Bonus Game, awarding 3 refilling Lives. During this time, only Money, Melon Ghosts, Melons, and Blanks are present.

Special Money symbols will land with a random value between 0.1x and 500x your bet. Each time a Money symbol lands, it will lock into its position, whilst all other reel positions continue to spin.

When a Melon Ghost lands, it randomly changes position after every spin. When a Melon hits, it will move in a random direction, either Up Down, Left, or Right until it reappears from behind the reel set and returns to the position it landed in.

As the Melon symbol moves, it collects all Money symbols in its path, adding the values to the total win. The first Melon that lands will have a Multiplier of x1. For each new Melon, the Multiplier will increase by +x1 and is applied to the values of all Money symbols it collects.

If a Melon collects a Melon Ghost symbol, it will grow in a size of 2×2 or 3×3, able to collect additional Money symbols along its path. Big Melons can move Horizontally, wrapping around the edges of the reel set and returning to its position where it collected the Melon Ghost.

At random, the Melon symbol can move up or down towards the rightmost edge of the reel set, collecting all Money symbols on its path and returning to its original position. Also, the number of Respins can increase from 3 to 4, remaining the same until the end of the round.

When there are no more Respins left or the reel set is full of Money symbols, a 3×3 Melon will collect all the symbols in view on the reel set. Please note, the 3×3 Melon does not have a Multiplier. All lives are refilled when a new Money, Melon, or Melon Ghost symbol lands in view.

Mighty Munching Melons: Our Verdict

Mighty Munching Melons gives players something classic in more than one sense. With classic fruity symbols, it feels reminiscent of a classic pub fruity, and with its Pac-Man influence, it may evoke fond memories of classic gaming.

If you’ve no real love for either of those things then Mighty Munching Melons is pretty bad. Now that we think about it, it’s pretty awful even if you do. Reel Kingdom are the developers that brought Big Bass Bonanza and all of its variants, which feels like the modern Fishin’ Frenzy. How could the quality difference between the two games feel so vast? With more of the Big Bass series in the works, it feels as if this game is purely filler to bridge the gap. We wonder if nothing at all would have been better.

The bonus round and its multipliers can improve on what would have otherwise been a bog standard hold-and-collect bonus, but it feels drawn out and slow to accumulate. The max win here is 3,000x, which feels woefully low for a modern-day slot.

Overall, Reel Kingdom missed the mark on this one and rather drastically so
