Almighty Dragon Slot Review
A scarlet dragon the size of a castle fills the left of the screen, wings spread against a pale dawn sky, a glowing red gem set into its golden chest plate. It’s a lovely piece of fantasy painting, and it’s also the least important thing on screen. Almighty Dragon is really a game about a side reel: a sixth column of prize positions that ordinary reels can’t touch, reachable only by chains of Connect & Collect symbols built left to right across the main 5×4 grid.
That’s the whole design, and it’s what Atomic Slot Lab has hung everything else on. With up to 1,875 ways to win underneath, the ways game and the chain game run side by side, but the chain game is the one doing the paying. It’s a busier engine than Cluckin’ Good or Pigster, and closer in spirit to Reaper Riches.
Base Game & Features
Wins pay on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost, and multiple ways in a single spin add together. Only the highest win counts for each symbol combination. Scatter wins pay on top of ways wins. It’s standard ways machinery, with room to spare at the 1,875-way ceiling.
The wild substitutes for everything except the two Collect-style symbols and a gem icon, and it only lands on reels two, three and four. During free games, x2 and x3 wilds join it on the same reels, carrying their own multipliers into the substitution.
The wild never touches the Collect side of the game, so the two systems stay cleanly separated. A chain-builder and a ways game can share the reels without getting in each other’s way.
Connect & Collect
Connect & Collect symbols can land on any ordinary position across reels one to five. The job is to build a chain of adjacent symbols, left to right, each touching the next horizontally or vertically, until the chain reaches a special position on reel three or the sixth reel. Whatever sits in that special position is what the chain pays.
The sixth reel is where chains can snowball. Special positions there may be linked to their neighbours, and if a chain reaches one linked position, every adjacent linked prize pays too.
Linked awards can join two, three, four or five positions at once. One clean connection at the right angle can sweep the whole side reel.
The Special Symbols
Reel three carries two special positions, top and bottom, and the sixth reel is special positions all the way down. Here’s what each one holds:
- Money Value – carries a random value from a pre-defined set, paid whenever a chain reaches it
- Respins – reel three only; triggers five respins when reached
- MINOR – reel three only; pays 25x the bet
- MAJOR – pays 200x the bet
- GRAND – pays 4,000x the bet
- Mystery Bonus Prize – sixth reel only; awards one wheel spin
The GRAND, MAJOR and MINOR figures sit at the top of the screen as a fixed ladder, shown as multiples of stake rather than flat amounts. The 4,000x GRAND is the game’s ceiling, and everything else routes back to it or around it.
Respins
Reaching the Respins position on reel three sets off five respins. Every Connect & Collect symbol from the triggering spin locks in place while everything else on reels one to five spins again. At the end of the round, all connections to special symbols pay out.
There’s a safety net built in. If the only special position the chain managed to touch was the Respins symbol that started the round, a consolation prize is awarded instead. It’s a small set of fixed amounts, enough to soften a round that never built any momentum.
Random Awards
Three random modifiers can fire without warning on any spin, in the base game or free games:
- The GRAND award can drop at the end of any base game spin
- A random number of Connect & Collect symbols can be added to random non-special positions
- A random number of Collect symbols can be added the same way
Two exclusions apply. The GRAND award is switched off during the Buy a Bonus, and none of the additions touch the special positions themselves. Otherwise, it’s the game’s way of manufacturing a chain when the reels won’t build one on their own.
Almighty Dragon Free Games & Bonus Rounds
The free games round is where the wilds get dangerous. In addition to the standard wild, x2 and x3 multiplier wilds appear on reels two, three and four during free games only, substituting for everything the ordinary wild does. Free games wins add to ways wins, and the round’s total is paid once it completes.
The round comes in three sizes, awarding seven, ten or 25 free games. The random symbol additions stay active throughout, so chains can still be built mid-round. Respins remains live on reel three as well, and the two systems stack rather than compete.
Mystery Bonus Prize & Buy a Bonus
Chains that reach the Mystery Bonus Prize on the sixth reel award a single spin of a wheel. That wheel is the game’s other route to the bigger ladder prizes, and it gives the side reel a second job beyond the linked positions.
There’s a Buy a Bonus option in the interface for skipping the wait. One restriction applies: the GRAND random award doesn’t function during bought play, so the biggest ladder prize is only in play on organic spins.
No pricing is published for the buy, so there’s nothing to weigh up here beyond that exclusion. The ladder is the one thing a bought round can’t reach.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Playing Almighty Dragon means watching the left side of the grid, spin after spin, hoping the chains connect. The dragon is gorgeous and barely matters. You’re here for one reason: a chain that reaches the linked positions on reel six and pays four times over.
That linked reel is the best thing in the game, because one connection can sweep several prizes at once. The weakness sits right next to it: the GRAND that caps everything is a fixed 4,000x, which is modest for a build this elaborate, and the buy can’t even reach it.
It suits players who enjoy the chain-building style, where patience and a lucky sweep matter more than frequent small hits. Anyone after outsized multipliers will want a bigger hoard. For collectors and Connect & Collect fans, this dragon guards enough gold to be worth the climb.
Almighty Dragon FAQs
-
How does Connect & Collect work in Almighty Dragon?
Connect & Collect symbols land on reels one to five, and adjacent symbols connect horizontally or vertically, left to right. When a chain reaches a special position on reel three or the sixth reel, the prize in that position is awarded. Sixth reel positions can be linked, so reaching one can pay every adjacent linked prize too. -
What do the Respins award in Almighty Dragon?
A chain that reaches the Respins symbol on reel three starts a round of five respins. The Connect & Collect symbols from the triggering spin stay locked while the rest of reels one to five respin, and all connections to special symbols pay at the end. If the only position reached was the Respins symbol itself, a consolation prize is paid instead. -
What do the free games award in Almighty Dragon?
Free games come in rounds of seven, ten or 25 spins. During the round, x2 and x3 multiplier wilds appear on reels two, three and four alongside the standard wild, and the random symbol additions remain active. Free games wins are added to ways wins. -
What are the jackpot prizes in Almighty Dragon?
A fixed ladder of three prizes sits above the reels: GRAND at 4,000x the bet, MAJOR at 200x and MINOR at 25x. The GRAND can also be awarded randomly at the end of any base game spin, but not during the Buy a Bonus. -
How many paylines does Almighty Dragon have?
The base game contains up to 1,875 ways to win. Ways pays must occur on adjacent reels beginning with the leftmost reel, and wins on multiple ways in the same spin are added together. -
What is the grid size of Almighty Dragon?
The main grid is 5×4, with a sixth reel alongside it that contains only special symbols. There are also two special positions on the top and bottom of reel three. -
Can you buy the bonus on Almighty Dragon?
Yes, a Buy a Bonus option is available in the interface. One restriction applies: the random GRAND award is not available during bought play, so the top ladder prize can only be won on organic spins. -
Who makes Almighty Dragon?
