Reaper Riches

Reaper Riches Slot Review

A hooded skeletal Reaper fills the left of the screen, leaning on a long curved scythe, green mist rolling off his purple robe. Behind him a graveyard sits under a stormy sky, and two glass vessels rest on stone plinths below the reels, one bubbling with green light, one crackling purple.

The reels in front of all that gothic spectacle are almost decorative. That’s the bet Atomic Slot Lab has made here: the paytable pays pocket change, and every win worth having depends on a chain of symbols crawling left to right across the grid to a prize on the far reels. Reaper Riches runs on a 5×4 grid with 1,875 ways to win, special positions on reel 3, a sixth reel carrying nothing but feature symbols, and 95.55% RTP.

The scythe isn’t the only thing here that rewards a long reach.

Base Game & Features

Wins form left to right across adjacent reels on the 1,875-ways grid, so symbols don’t need to sit on fixed lines. Three or more matching symbols from the left will pay. It’s a standard ways setup, and the game doesn’t complicate it.

What complicates the game is everything else. Two of the six reels behave differently from the rest, and both exist to serve one mechanic.

Connect & Collect

Connect & Collect symbols can land on reels one to five. When one appears, it hits adjacent symbols from left to right, building a chain across the grid. If the chain reaches a special position on reel 3 or reel 6, the award sitting on that position is paid.

Reel 3’s special positions hold the respin and prize triggers. Reel 6 holds only special symbols, so a chain that travels that far is reaching for the bigger goods.

Wild symbols substitute for any paying symbol. They can also be dropped onto the reels by the Add Wilds feature, covered in the bonus section below.

Random Awards

At the end of any base-game spin, the game can step in unannounced. The GRAND award can be won outright, or a random number of Wild, Cash, or Connect & Collect symbols can be dropped onto non-special positions to build or improve a chain.

It’s a generous-sounding system, and it means a dead-looking spin isn’t necessarily finished. The paytable underneath all this is modest:

• Reaper: four pays 0.6667x, five pays 1.3333x
• Bell: three pays 0.3333x, four pays 0.6667x, five pays 1.3333x
• Cross Pendant: four pays 0.4x, five pays 0.8333x
• Cross Ornament: three pays 0.2667x, four pays 0.4x, five pays 0.8333x
• Candle: three pays 0.1667x, four pays 0.3333x, five pays 0.8333x
• A: three pays 0.1333x, four pays 0.2667x, five pays 0.6667x
• K, Q: three pays 0.1x, four pays 0.2x, five pays 0.5x
• J, 10, 9: three pays 0.0667x, four pays 0.1667x, five pays 0.3333x

The paytable isn’t where the money lives. The money lives at the end of a chain, and every feature below is a way of getting there.

Reaper Riches Bonus Features & Free Spins

Respins

The Respin trigger sits on special positions on reel 3, won either by a Connect & Collect chain reaching it or by random chance. It starts a respin round in which every Connect & Collect symbol that lands stays in place for the rest of the round.

If the round ends without reaching anything better, consolation prizes of 3x, 4x, 5x or 10x the bet are possible. A respin round connected to Cash Respins can also upgrade into Super Respins.

Cash Respins

Cash Respins also hits only on reel 3’s special positions, by chain or by chance. All Connect & Collect symbols on screen are held, and three respins are awarded. Every symbol that lands during the round carries a credit value or a Bonus Prize.

Collect and Mystery Bonus symbols can arrive with multipliers of 2x to 5x attached, scaling whatever the round has built.

Super Respins

When a single award delivers both Respins and Cash Respins, the round becomes Super Respins. Three respins, the same hold-and-collect mechanics, and a Money Value symbol that takes a random value from 1.67x up to 166.67x the bet.

It’s the upgraded version of the same idea, and the one a chain should be aiming for.

Prizes and the Mystery Wheel

A chain reaching the Minor Prize position on reel 3 collects a fixed 16.67x the bet. The bigger prize sits further away: the Mystery Bonus Prize occupies special positions on reel 6, active during Cash and Super Respins, and pays one spin of a wheel.

The wheel’s wedges are:

• MINOR
• MINOR x2
• MAJOR
• MAJOR x2
• GRAND
• GRAND x2
• Fixed credit values

Soul Storm and Add Wilds

Two base-game modifiers arrive by chain. Soul Storm adds Soul Storm symbols to random positions on reels one, two, four, and five, and connecting to more than one awards the same feature again.

Add Wilds drops Wild symbols onto random positions on reels two to five. More connections mean more wilds, and a chain that reaches both Soul Storm and Add Wilds delivers both effects at once.

Free Games

A chain that reaches a Free Games symbol triggers the round and pays 2x the total bet on the spot. The number of free games is chosen at random from seven, 10, 15, 20, or 25, and the round starts with the total from every Free Games symbol collected.

Free Games run on special reels, with Connect & Collect working exactly as it does in the base game. Every special position is still live, so a free spin can chase the same respins, prizes, and wheel the base game offers.

Buy Bonus

The Buy Bonus costs 100x the current total bet and triggers instantly from the base game. The triggering spin is guaranteed to land enough Connect & Collect symbols to form a chain reaching the special positions on both reel 3 and reel 6.

On that spin, reel 6 carries only Free Games symbols and reel 3 carries only Money Value symbols. It’s a buy that guarantees the round rather than merely the chance of one, which is more than most buys offer.

Our Honest Verdict

Overall Rating: 7.2/10

This is a slow burn, and you have to want that. Sessions in Reaper Riches are long stretches of watching chains fall short, punctuated by the moments one finally stretches across the grid and the whole game opens up. That build is the reason to sit down here at all, and the Reaper’s graveyard is a handsome place to wait in.

The best thing about it is that the waiting always has a destination: six different awards sit at the end of a chain, and the Respins-to-Super-Respins upgrade means a modest round can still escalate. The worst thing is the reel pays. When the best symbol pays barely over your stake for five of a kind, the reels alone never pull you out of a quiet patch, and they’re quiet often.

If you like slots built around one mechanic with everything else hanging off it, this is a well-made version of that. If you want your line pays to matter, this graveyard stays cold no matter how green the mist looks.
