Bonanza More Gold Slot Review
A waterfall churns beside a wooden water wheel on the same mossy hillside the series has mined since 2016, and the hut at the bottom of the cliff still has its lamp lit. Bonanza More Gold‘s argument is that the original’s bonus didn’t need replacing, only multiplying: every free spins round now begins with a spin of a Feature Wheel that decides which of eight bonuses you’ve actually triggered, so the same four Scatters can hand you wildly different games.
Big Time Gaming runs it on six Megaways reels with a variable number of symbols per reel, a 96.46% RTP and a payout cap of 30,000 times stake. It follows a long line of mining titles for the studio, from Bonanza Megaways through Bonanza Falls and Bonanza Megapays.
Ways, Reactions and the Carts
Wins are matching consecutive symbols from the leftmost reel, regardless of height, and the ways counter changes on every spin as the reels load up with different numbers of symbols. All winning combinations are added together, and only the highest win per combination is paid. Every winning symbol then forms part of a reaction, replaced by symbols dropping in from above or sliding in from the right along the carts.
Those carts run constantly above reels two to five, each one adding a symbol to the reel beneath it. They’re what keeps the ways count moving, and they’re also the only place Wilds appear: Wilds substitute for everything except Scatters, with the Barrel, x2 and x4 variants held back for free spins.
The paytable keeps the coloured-stone hierarchy the series is known for, with values as multiples of the total bet:
- Diamond (purple): 2 pays 2x, 3 pays 4x, 4 pays 7.5x, 5 pays 10x, 6 pays 20x
- Ruby (red): 3 pays 0.5x, 4 pays 1x, 5 pays 1.5x, 6 pays 7x
- Sapphire (blue): 4 pays 0.25x, 5 pays 0.75x, 6 pays 1.75x
- Emerald (green): 3 pays 0.25x, 4 pays 0.5x, 5 pays 0.75x, 6 pays 1.75x
The purple diamond is the one that matters, paying from just two symbols and scaling to 20x for six. Below it the values thin out quickly, and the lower end of the table won’t carry a session on its own. Scatters don’t appear in the carts during the base game, so every gold letter that lands comes from the reels themselves. That’s the whole hunt: four of them, anywhere in view, and the bonus is on.
Free Spins and the Feature Wheel
Four GOLD Scatters in any position award 12 free spins. Before a single one plays out, you spin the Feature Wheel, and whatever it lands on shapes the entire round. An unlimited win multiplier starts at x1 and climbs by one after each reaction, no matter which bonus you’re carrying. The stake that triggered the round applies to every spin of it.
The wheel can stop on any of eight bonuses:
- Increased Ways: a guaranteed minimum of four symbols on every reel, cart symbol included
- x2 Wild: each x2 Wild taking part in a win doubles it
- Wild Bomb: symbols to the left, right or below the Barrel Wild become Wilds
- Multiplier Doubler: the multiplier opens at x2 and adds two per reaction
- Multiplier Boost: the round begins with an x5 multiplier
- Retrigger Surge: two, three or four Scatters award 3, 6 or 12 extra spins
- Classic Free Spins: no added enhancement
- Super Upgrade: spin the Super Wheel instead
Classic Free Spins is the dud segment, and Super Upgrade is the prize at the other end of the wheel. Land it and you move up to the Super Wheel, where every outcome is a strengthened version of the ordinary one. The full set runs:
- Super Increased Ways: every reel holds at least six symbols, cart symbol included
- x4 Wild: wins are quadrupled for each x4 Wild in the win
- Super Wild Bomb: symbols in two directions from the Barrel Wild become Wilds, except Scatters
- Super Multiplier Tripler: the multiplier starts at x3, climbing by three per reaction
- Super Multiplier Boost: an x20 multiplier from the very first spin
- Super Retrigger Surge: 1, 2, 3 or 4 Scatters award 1, 3, 6 or 12 extra spins
You don’t need the wheel to retrigger, either. Free Spin Scatters appear in the carts during the round, and the more of them that arrive together, the more spins get added. A fifth Scatter at the original trigger awards the Super Wheel, and every Scatter beyond the fifth adds five more spins before the round even starts.
The trigger stake matters more than it looks, too, because it carries through the whole bonus: whatever you were betting when the Scatters landed is what every free spin plays at, and there’s no adjusting it once the wheel has spun.
Power Play and Bonus Buy
Power Play is a toggle you press before spinning, and while it’s on, every spin guarantees at least 10,000 Megaways. It costs five times your stake and runs at 96.48% RTP, a fraction above the base figure. Whether it’s offered at all depends on where you’re playing.
There are two ways to skip the Scatter hunt altogether:
- Free Spins bonus: 140 times the Free Spins Stake buys the standard round
- Enhanced Free Spins bonus: 300 times the Free Spins Stake buys the upgraded version
Both buys run at 96.52% RTP. The Free Spins Stake is set separately with plus and minus buttons, applies to every spin of the round, and the price is deducted from your balance on purchase. Bonus Buy may be limited or unavailable in some jurisdictions, and the same goes for auto play.
Auto play itself is standard fare: set a number of spins, add a loss limit or a win limit if you want one, and the play button becomes a stop button showing what’s left. It shuts itself down whenever a limit is hit.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
This is a patient game with one big spin inside it. Most of your time is spent on the familiar hillside, watching carts roll and waiting on the fourth Scatter, and that wait is precisely why the wheel works: the moment the bonus lands, it pays out again as a second gamble on which round you’ve really earned.
The wheel is the strength, because eight possible rounds means the bonus never plays the same twice, and the Super Wheel outcomes sit among the best free spins BTG has built in this setting. The weakness is the Classic segment, which pays out your patience with the plain round the wheel was supposed to improve. The Super Wheel itself is nearly a rumour, too, wanting a fifth Scatter on top of an already steep four.
This one belongs to Megaways players with time on their hands, who liked the original’s long build and want a reason to sit through it again. Anyone after quick, regular bonuses will find the mine too quiet. For the patient, the gold’s still there, and now there’s a wheel to spin on the way down to it.
