Bucks and Doe 10K Ways Slot Review
A frosted window looks out on pine woods, a pail of split firewood sits by a stack of logs, and a mounted antler rack spreads across the log wall above the reels. Bucks and Doe 10K Ways has loaded nearly everything it can pay into a single bonus round, and the base game outside it exists mostly to keep you warm while you wait for three scatters. That’s a bold way to build a slot, and it mostly works.
ReelPlay have built the hunt around up to 10,000 ways to win, with cascading reactions clearing winners away for new symbols, a 96.1% RTP, medium-high volatility and a 6,116x max win. It shares its engine with Atlantis 10K Ways and Hypernova Megaways, though this one swaps the fish and the star for a crosshair. Bets run from 0.20 to 40 per spin.
Base Game & Features
The reels sit in a thick varnished wood frame like a shuttered cabin window, with a top row in its own raised box that adds a symbol to reels two through five. Wins pay left to right on adjacent reels, and only positions carrying the winning symbol count towards it.
Every winning symbol explodes and is replaced by symbols dropping from above and sliding in from the right on the top reel, so a single spin can chain several wins together. The cascade keeps running until no new combination lands, and the whole chain is paid before the reels settle.
A trophy ladder runs down the left of the screen, and it matters in the bonus round as well as the base game:
- Platinum: 2,000x the bet
- Gold: 250x the bet
- Silver: 50x the bet
- Bronze: 10x the bet
The top of the paytable is thin country, with just two animals above the royals. Values are multiples of the total bet:
- Hunter: 50x for six, 10x for five, 4x for four
- Moose: 5x for six, 2x for five
Beneath those sit the royals, from nine through to ace, paying small change for three to six of a kind. The moose also doubles as a game symbol in the bonus round, alongside the deer and elk that fill out the middle of the table.
Base wins here are modest by design. The money in this game lives in the respins.
The scatter is a pink starburst icon, and in the base game each one displays a prize multiplier of between 1x and 100x, or a trophy prize. Never more than one trophy at a time. Three or more scatters trigger the Bonus Respins, which is the feature the whole hunt is aimed at.
Bucks and Doe 10K Ways Bonus Respins
Triggering the feature awards three respins. During the round, deer, elk, moose, bear and scatter symbols all become prize symbols, every non-trophy one displaying a cash value. On each respin, every empty position spins to reveal a blank, a prize, a hunter or an ammunition symbol.
After each respin, a crosshair targets one prize symbol and collects it. Which animal you hunt is chosen at random when the feature starts, and only that one game symbol lands for the rest of the round. The choice matters, because the prize ranges step up with the animal:
- Deer prizes: 1x to 100x the total bet
- Elk prizes: 1x to 150x the total bet
- Moose prizes: 1x to 200x the total bet
At least one game symbol lands on every respin, so the board keeps filling. The hunter is the round’s big swing: if he appears, the crosshair targets every prize symbol on the reels at once, sweeping the lot into your total. There’s never more than one hunter present.
The Bear
The bear is where the round gets its teeth. A bear symbol carries one to three lives and starts with a prize in the same range as the active game animal. Before each crosshair collection, the bear devours the nearest game symbol, adds that prize to its own, and moves into the devoured symbol’s position. If two animals sit equidistant, one is picked at random.
Target the bear with the crosshair and its accumulated prize is collected, along with one of its lives. If a life remains it stays on the board for the next respin, still eating. A bear that survives three collections has paid out three times and grown each time in between.
Ammunition and Trophies
An ammunition symbol resets the respin count back to three, and there’s only ever one on the reels. It’s the round’s extension mechanic, and paired with the guaranteed game symbol each respin, it’s what lets a good round snowball. When no respins remain, everything collected is paid out.
Scatters during the respins always carry a trophy prize, drawn from the ladder above. A scatter stays on the board until the crosshair takes it or the round ends, and the feature allows just the one.
Bonus Buy
The feature can be bought outright, and unusually, the buy menu lets you choose which animal the round hunts. Prices are multiples of the bet per spin:
- Deer: 55x bet
- Elk: 65x bet
- Moose: 75x bet
- Random animal: 65x bet
The bought spin always lands three or more scatters, so the round is guaranteed. The moose premium buys the widest prize range at up to 200x per symbol, while the random option costs the same as the elk with a shot at any of the three.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
Most of a session here is spent in a warm cabin watching the reels tick over on small change, waiting for the hunt to actually start. That’s fine, because when it does, the bear makes it worth the wait. This is one of the better respins rounds in the studio’s catalogue, purely because the bear keeps changing the board every single collection, and the ammunition resets mean a good round keeps running instead of sputtering out after three spins.
The problem is everything you do between triggers. The base paytable tops out at 50x for the best symbol in the game, and the cascades rarely build to anything memorable, so the long stretches between features are genuinely lean.
It’s a good pick for players who like one feature done properly and don’t mind a quiet stalk to reach it. Anyone who wants a base game with its own bite should look elsewhere in the studio’s line. For the patient hunters, though, the lodge fire is lit and the bear is worth the wait.
