Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter Slot Review 2024
Join us as we venture out with Cat Wilde to hunt down a vital lost chapter in the Book of Dead, in Play’n GO’s newest release, Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter!
The Book of Dead has been under lock and key with the Wilde family for generations. Flicking through this ancient book, Cat realises that the Book of Dead is missing an entire chapter. When adventure comes calling, Cat Wilde can’t help but run with it.
Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter is another edition in a long line of sequels to the original Book of Dead slot. Play’n GO are continuing on their own journey to recreate the success of the first by delivering a number of ‘Book’ style slots that feature the famous Wilde family.
Aside from ‘Book’ style slots, Play’n GO are also the masterminds behind titles like The Wild Class, Sisters of the Sun and the popular 3 Clown Monty.
Will Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter deliver in ways Book of Dead still does or is it time Play’n GO put the Wilde family into early retirement? Let’s play on and find out!
Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter Betting and Symbols
Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter has a variety of betting options for players to choose from. For those who prefer a lower stake, the minimum bet available is £/€0.10 per spin. For those who prefer a higher stake, the maximum bet available is £/€100 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two.
The highest paying regular symbol in Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter is Cat Wilde herself, followed by Anubis, the Ankh and the Scarab Beetle. Lower paying symbols are standard Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten.
Wild symbols substitute for all symbols except Scatters.
Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter Base Game and Features
Cat Wild and the Lost Chapter is a 5 reel slot with 10 fixed paylines. In order to form a win you will need to connect 3 or more (or 2 or more of all higher paying symbols) from left to right, starting from the left-most reel.
Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter is quite standard in the same sense as those like it, there’s not much variety to the Base Game. The Gamble and Collect feature has made it’s appearance once again, but apart from that you’ll be waiting for the Free Spins round if you’re to see any real action. Let’s hope that Play’n GO are saving the best till last in this case.
Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter Free Spins
Landing 3 Scatters in any position on the reels, triggers the Bonus round, awarding 8 Free Spins.
Once this happens, a random High or Low paying symbol will be chosen as your Expanding symbol. With each Free Spin, a new High or Low paying symbol will be chosen, so you end up with a new symbol each time. If a high paying symbol is chosen, a minimum of 2 instances of that symbol are required for expansion. If a low paying symbol is chosen, then a minimum of 3 instances of that symbol are required for expansion.
The Wild symbol will transform into a Wild Scatter during the Free Spins round.
Pyramid Spins
During the Free Spins round, landing 2-5 Wild Scatter symbols on any of the reels, triggers Pyramid Spins.
Once Pyramid Spins has been triggered, the expanding symbol that you were on when the intial trigger happened, will be locked in and will expand on all Pyramid Spins.
During Pyramid Spins, landing 1 Scatter will award an additional +1 Free Spin.
Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter Our Verdict
If we’re being completley honest, all these Cat Wilde slots look exactly the same, so much so that we struggle to put our finger on which one is the best out of them all. Not only do they look the same, they all seem to work in the same way too, lacking in any kind of distinctive features.
There’s seemingly a striking disparity between the success of the Rich Wilde Slots and his daughter’s variants. What is it that they’re missing? Maybe it’s just us?
Nostalgia could well be the reason. Book of Dead is such a classic fan favourite that it’s hard to compare to it, even if those that came after it are technically better. Perhaps Play’n GO created something so endearing with Book of Dead that nothing else can possibly come close?
We’ll let you decide for yourself. We’re not saying that Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter is a bad slot, on the contrary we think it’s quite the opposite. Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter has some great potential with it’s 10,000x capabilities, and it definitely scratches an itch if you’re looking for some ‘Book of’ style action.
For all its merits though, Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter isn’t anything particularly new, so if you were hoping for a reimagining of the whole genre then this particular instalment won’t grant your wish.
Overall, Cat Wilde and the Lost Chapter is a stellar example of the slots that Play’n GO pull off so well, but we wouldn’t really be surprised if Book of Dead still reigns supreme as far as fans are concerned.
