Dragonlings: Fire & Riches Power Combo Slot Review
Dragon eggs sit in a row above the reels, each one waiting for the scatter colour that will crack it open. The scatter you collect matters more than anything on the paylines in Dragonlings: Fire & Riches Power Combo, because the colour decides which bonus you actually play. Infinity Dragon Studios built the whole game on that idea, running the same Power Combo system that carried Harrigan & Hare! Rainbow Bonanza Power Combo earlier this year.
It plays on a 5×3 grid with 40 fixed paylines, at 96.02% RTP, medium volatility and a 33.46% hit frequency, with stakes from 0.20 to 25.00. There’s a pick-a-chest bonus with a 10,000x Grand at the top, and a five-spin round where the scatters turn generous. Ra & Cleopatra: Nile Rising Power Combo and Wild Herd Stampede Stacks run the same engine in different costumes.
Base Game & Features
This is a straightforward 5×3 slot at heart. The 40 paylines are fixed, wins pay left to right from the first reel, and only the highest combination on each line counts. Nothing here rewrites the basics.
The Dragon Queen Wild substitutes for every symbol except the Scatters, the Dragon Elixir and the Dragon Key. One wild, one job, no tricks. She also turns up where it matters, because the Power Combo Scatters themselves transform into wilds once they’ve been collected.
Dragon Keys and the Chamber of Fortune
Dragon Key symbols can land on any reel in the base game and free spins, and each one drops into the Treasure Vault meter at the bottom of the screen. Collect keys on all five reels and the vaults unlock, triggering the Chamber of Fortune Bonus.
Twelve Dragon Chests appear, and you get three picks. Each chest hides either a Coin prize, which pays out immediately, or a Bonus prize, which grants an extra pick. Find three matching Bonus prizes and you win that bonus:
- Grand: 10,000x total bet
- Major: 250x total bet
- Minor: 50x total bet
The round runs until the picks run out. It’s a generous ladder for a side feature, and it carries 5.47% of the game’s total return on its own.
The other base-game collector is the Dragon Elixir, which can attach itself to any high or low symbol. Each appearance fills the Free Spins meter and carries a chance of triggering the Guardian’s Hoard round. The collection itself is purely for show; the trigger is a roll of the dice, not a progress bar you can finish.
Dragonlings Bonuses & Free Spins
Link&Win and the Power Combo Scatters
Link&Win is where the money is made. It starts with three spins and three coin prize symbols on the reels, and every new coin that lands is held in place while the respin count resets to three. Fill every position and the Grand pays out.
The bonus ladder is the same one the Chamber of Fortune uses: Grand 10,000x, Major 250x, Minor 50x total bet. The feature carries 35.16% of the game’s total RTP, which tells you most of the return sits here.
What makes it a Power Combo game is the scatter system. There are four scatter colours, each collected by its own dragon egg at the top of the reels, and whichever colours have landed when the feature triggers decide which modifiers come along for the ride:
- Blue (Prize Boost): coin values upgrade at random on any spin
- Green (Colossal Reels): the grid expands to a 5×5 reel set
- Red (Dragonfire Collect): the Collect symbol sweeps all coins and bonus symbols off the reels, pays them, and resets the respins to three
- Rainbow: splits into all three coloured scatters, so any or every modifier can fire at once
Scatters can also combine. Blue with Red brings Prize Boost and Dragonfire Collect, Green with Red brings the 5×5 board and the collector, and landing all three at once runs the full arsenal. On a 5×5 board with the collector active and coin values upgrading underneath, the round becomes something quite different from a standard hold-and-win.
Guardian’s Hoard Free Spins
The Dragon Elixir meter can award five free spins at any moment. It sounds thin, and it is, but each Elixir that lands during the round adds one more spin, so the number isn’t fixed for long.
The real point of the round is what it does to the scatters. Power Combo Scatters land more often, collected scatters are more likely to trigger Link&Win, and if the feature does fire it queues up and plays out once the free spins finish. It’s a loader, nothing more, and its 1.59% share of the total RTP reflects that.
Feature Buy
A BUY button sits alongside the reels, and it skips straight to Link&Win with your choice of payload. Each colour can be bought alone or combined, and every option plays at the current bet. The purchase isn’t available above a certain stake threshold.
The buy RTPs are, unusually, slightly better than the base figure:
- Prize Boost alone: 96.21%
- Colossal Reels alone: 96.23%
- Dragonfire Collect alone: 96.21%
- Any two combined: 96.19% to 96.20%
- All three combined: 96.20%
Colossal Reels alone is the marginally better buy, though the gap between best and worst is four hundredths of a percent. Pick the round you’d most like to play.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.7/10
You spend most of a session watching the nursery rather than the reels: eggs filling at the top, keys dropping into the vault at the bottom, wins arriving often enough to keep the balance breathing. The reason to sit through it is the hatch, because what comes out of those eggs is never the same round twice.
That’s the strength, and it’s a real one. A bonus whose shape is set by the scatters you happened to collect beats every hold-and-win clone that pays out identically every visit, and Dragonfire Collect sweeping a 5×5 board is the best version of it here.
The weakness is everything between hatches. Two meters to feed, a five-spin round that only loads the main event, and long quiet stretches where medium volatility keeps wins small. It’s a fit for players who enjoy a slow build and don’t need action on every spin; anyone after constant movement will find the waiting dull. The hoard at the end justifies the sitting, provided you actually like sitting.
