Leprechaun’s Gold Garden

Leprechaun’s Gold Garden Slot Review

A quiet, green garden where a leprechaun in a waistcoat tends his reels instead of guarding a crock of gold. Leprechaun’s Gold Garden is a game that puts almost all of its personality into a single decision – how your wilds behave during the free spins – and leaves the rest of the build plain. That’s a braver shape than it looks on a 5×3 grid, because most slots at this size spread the interest thin rather than betting it all on one fork in the road.

The studio behind it is Boomerang Studios, whose catalogue includes 3 Wonders Catch, Witches Wild Fortune and The Good Farmer. Whether the wild choice here is a real fork or three ways of saying the same thing is what follows.

Base Game & Features

The base game is a five-reel, three-row setup with the leprechaun himself doing double duty as the wild. He substitutes for the standard symbols. Stacked wilds are part of the design rather than a lucky accident, so the reels can carry several wilds at once.

Those stacks are where the bigger base game combinations come from. A run of wilds across the later reels can complete several lines at the same moment. That’s the main event outside the bonus round.

Scatters are the other symbol that matters. Land three of them and you’re through to the feature selection screen. Cash values can also ride on the symbols themselves, so a spin can pay out coin amounts directly rather than only through symbol combinations.

The symbols that do the work in this game are a short list:

• Leprechaun wild – substitutes for standard symbols
• Scatter bonus – three anywhere take you to the selection screen
• Coin values – cash amounts carried on the symbols themselves
• Stacked wilds – multiple wilds can occupy the same reels

Visually it’s a calm, green affair. The garden framing gives the reels a softer backdrop than most Irish-themed slots bother with, and the leprechaun is more groundskeeper than trickster.

There’s no rush in the presentation, and none in the pacing either. The reels turn, the wilds stack where they stack, and the scatters arrive or don’t. It’s a base game content to wait for its own bonus round.

The maximum win is 1,776x the bet. What you’re playing for is the bonus round, and the bonus round is all about the wilds.

Leprechaun’s Gold Garden Bonus Features & Free Spins

Three scatter bonuses take you to a selection screen with three named features on it. You pick one, and that’s how your free spins behave for the round. Each branch changes the maths enough that the pick matters.

It’s worth spelling out what each option gives you before the reels start turning:

• Expanding Wild – the leprechaun wild grows to cover its whole reel
• Wild Multiplier – the wild carries a x10 multiplier on wins it completes
• Contagious Wild – the wild spreads into neighbouring positions
• Trigger – three scatter bonuses landing anywhere on the grid
• Selection – one option, chosen before the free spins begin
• Effect – your choice governs the wild’s behaviour for the whole round

Expanding Wild

Pick this and the leprechaun wild expands to cover its whole reel whenever he lands. A full reel of wilds is the oldest trick in the book, and it’s still an effective one.

The mechanics are simple. One wild lands, and that reel is wild from top to bottom for that spin. Expanded wilds in the right positions turn modest spins into covering wins across multiple lines at once.

Wild Multiplier

Here the wild carries a x10 multiplier on any win it helps to complete. It’s the branch for anyone who’d rather have one heavy hit than several wide ones.

A single well-placed multiplied wild can outpay a whole round of expanding reels. The multiplier only counts on lines the wild actually touches, so its value rises and falls with where he lands.

Placement is everything on this branch. A wild in the middle of the grid touches more lines than one on the outer reels, so the same x10 pays differently depending on where it sits.

Contagious Wild

The strangest of the three. Instead of growing or multiplying, a contagious wild spreads into the positions next to it, and each of those symbols becomes wild too.

Coverage builds outward from a single landing in a way the other two branches can’t match. It’s the pick that rewards a liking for chaos – or for the sight of wilds crawling across a garden bed.

Stacked wilds on the later reels are where the free spins round does its heaviest work, particularly combined with a multiplier or a spread. The scatters themselves are the only way in, so everything outside the bonus round is building towards those three landing together.

The three options also give a single round genuine replay value, which is rare at this scale. One run takes the expanding branch, the next the multiplier, and the two rounds play differently enough to feel like separate games rather than one feature wearing three hats.

The choice also gives the round a small piece of strategy most free spins features don’t offer. You’re not picking between difficulty levels; you’re picking the shape of the win you’d rather chase.

Our Honest Verdict

Overall Rating: 7.1/10

Playing this is mostly gardening: quiet reels, patient spins, and a long wait for three scatters to turn up at the gate. The reason to choose it is that wait’s payoff – a bonus round that asks you a question instead of just running, and plays differently every time you answer it differently. The leprechaun clearly knew where to bury the good stuff.

The strength is that selection screen, and specifically the Contagious Wild, which can turn one landing into a spreading patch of wilds the other two options can’t match for coverage. It gives the round a replay value most games this size never earn. The weakness is everything before it: the base game is thin, with stacked wilds doing nearly all the work and long stretches where very little pays.

This one suits players who like a patient build and a real choice at the end of it, and it’ll leave anyone wanting constant base game action cold. For the gardeners among slots players, though, the harvest is worth the digging.
