Some are happy with what they’ve been given, whilst others have become full-blown addicted to the process. Ultimately, it’s your body and you can do with it what you please, but it doesn’t mean that you should.
One software developer weighing out the pros and cons of this is Sneaky Slots, as part of their first-ever release, Nip Tuck.
Sneaky Slots is a new studio under the Evolution Gaming umbrella, guided by the well-established Nolimit City. Nip Tuck marks the start of something special, and more is yet to come with coveted xMechanics to feature in upcoming releases.
Will this new developer rise to the levels that Nolimit City have? Maybe, maybe not, but let’s see if they can walk before they can run in this somewhat terrifying release.
Base Game & Features
Sneaky Slots partners up with Nolimit City to release their first instalment, Nip Tuck, revealing 5 reels, 4 rows, and 30 fixed pay lines. Winning combinations occur when 3 or more identical symbols land on reels 1-5 throughout a session.
The 5 high-paying symbols fall to Yellow, Blue, Pink, Green, & Purple Faces, followed by low-paying symbols that spell the word ‘MERCH’. When a win connects, it will award a fixed payout between 0.1x and 25x your bet.
Additionally, Wild symbols substitute for all paytable symbols except Scanner & ‘Free Skins’ icons. Wild symbols pay the highest possible winning combinations according to the paytable.
Assembly Line & Scanners
During gameplay, each additional Feature or Modifier appears atop the Assembly Line above the reels. As you spin the reels, the Features/Modifiers move to the right of the Assembly Line, with new symbols able to appear from the left.
The available Features/Modifiers include:
- Random Wilds: Transforms several regular paytable symbols into Wilds.
- Multipliers: Awards a random Multiplier between x2 and x100 to all available symbols in the current spin.
- Big Tiles: Transforms 1 high-paying (face) symbol into a 2×2, 3×3, or 4×4 symbol instance.
The above Features/Modifiers can only be activated by Scanner symbols that appear directly below it. After activation, the Scanner symbol is removed from the reels.
Nip Tuck Free Spins
The Bonus Pick Feature can be triggered in multiple ways throughout the base game.
The first is by landing 1 or 2 ‘Free Skins’ Scatters on the Assembly Line and activating it with a Scanner Icon. Otherwise, landing 3 ‘Free Skins’ Scatters on the reels instantly triggers the Free Spins mode.
There is also a chance to land the Golden ‘Free Skins’ Scatter during any random spin in the base game. If this happens, the Super Bonus Pick is granted. Once active, players can choose between Free Skins or the Lock & Load Bonus.
- Free Skins: Awards 7 regular & super Free Spins.
- Lock & Load: Awards between 3 & 7 Free Spins
The Free Skins mode begins with 2 Assembly Lines available, one above and one below the main reel set. Each Assembly Line is filled to the max on the first spin, awarding a new Feature/Modifier hereafter.
Once a Feature/Modifier is active, it will remain on the Assembly Line, whilst Scanner symbols appear more frequently. The second Assembly Line, located at the bottom of the reel set, moves Features/Modifiers to the left with each spin.
In this mode, landing 3 ‘Free Skins’ Scatters & 1 Golden ‘Free Skins’ Scatter awards an additional +3 Free Spins, plus entry into the Super Free Skins mode. During the Super Free Skins mode, regular Features/Modifiers are available, with the addition of Persistent Multipliers.
Lock & Load Bonus
In the standard Lock & Load Bonus, a special ‘New Face’ Event is triggered first, awarding the following outcomes:
- Eyes: Award Cash Prizes between 1x and 50x your bet
- Nose: Awards 3-7 Free Spins.
- Mouth: Selects a random Modifier (Collector, Multiplier, or Enhancer) or none of them.
Once a setup has been established, the reel set transforms into a grid, revealing only Blanks, Cash Prizes, Collectors, Multipliers, or Enhancers. Each Cash Prize reveals a random value determined by the ‘Eyes Deal’ at the start of the feature.
With each spin, all visible Cash Prizes will remain in view until the end of the round, unless collected by a Collector symbol, which also remains in its current position. Additionally, landing a ‘Free Skins’ Scatter during this mode will award all available Cash Prizes and trigger the Super Lock & Load Bonus.
When the Super Lock & Load Bonus is awarded, another ‘New Face’ Event is triggered, awarding the following outcomes:
- Eyes: Award Cash Prizes between 2x and 100x your bet
- Nose: Awards 3-7 Free Spins
- Mouth: Guarantees a Collector, Multiplier, or Enhancer modifier
During the Super Lock & Load Bonus, an active Multiplier of x5 is applied to several Cash Prizes when it appears on the grid, whilst the Enhancer Modifier boosts the value of all Cash Prizes by +x10.
Sneaky Buy
Players may purchase one of the following Modifiers, Sneaky Boost, & Bonus Buy options:
- Sneaky Boost: Increased chance of triggering the Bonus Pick Feature for 2x your bet per spin
- Super Sneaky Boost: Increased chance of triggering the Super Bonus Pick Feature for 5x your bet per spin
- Random Wilds: Guarantees at least 1 Scanner symbol on the 2nd reel, along with a series of Wild symbols on the Assembly Line for 4x your bet
- Multiplier: Triggers at least 1 Scanner symbol on the 2nd reel, along with a Multiplier symbol on the Assembly Line for 2x your bet
- Big Tiles: Awards 1 Scanner symbol on the 2nd reel, along with a Big Tile trigger on the Assembly Line for 6x your bet
- Free Skins/Lock & Load: Guaranteed entry to the Bonus Pick Feature for 100x your bet
- Super Free Skins/Super Lock & Load: Instant access to the Super Bonus Pick feature for 500x your bet
Nip Tuck has a maximum win potential of 10,000x your bet. If a single session achieves this figure, the current mode ends, and the player returns to the base game with the qualifying amount.
Our Honest Verdict
It wasn’t long ago that we were reviewing our very first Shady Lady slot release, and now we find ourselves in the company of yet another developer. Nip Tuck is an incredible first release from Sneaky Slots, adopting Dadaist artwork, exciting features, and a unique theme.
It’s certainly a thought-provoking instalment, centred around the idea of beauty culture, or rather a satirical take on it. With social media being at its peak, the absurdity of unrealistic beauty is more prevalent than ever, with Shady Lady being the first to shed some light on gym culture in Swoll.
Nip Tuck pokes fun at this, which makes it stand out all the more. Through visuals alone, it’s a winner, although the dark backdrop makes it difficult to see the whole picture. The theme doesn’t fit into any of the traditional genres we often come across, but it certainly gives Nolimit City slots a run for their money.
The theme itself isn’t enough to obtain followers, so what did we think of gameplay? For a first release, it’s pretty good, but there’s definitely room for improvement. The Assembly Line & Scanner symbols are a great way to engage players in the available modifiers, awarding players with a chance to see Random Wilds, Multipliers, and Big Tiles in action.
In terms of statistics, Nip Tuck is about average. Sneaky Slots hasn’t joined the iGaming industry with ridiculous max win potential or extreme volatility levels; instead, they’ve chosen a pretty standard 10,000x max win cap, which is more than generous for a first release, if we’re honest.
All in all, Nip Tuck is a great first addition from Sneaky Slots, which kicks off their upcoming portfolio – We can’t wait to see where their next release takes us…
