Rocket Recon Slot Review
A watchtower leans on its stilts, a radio mast crackles above it, and two tanks idle in the hazy hills opposite: Rocket Recon is drawn like a Sunday-morning war cartoon, all thick outlines and battered timber. The look is a promise the game keeps. Where most military slots scatter four or five unrelated features across the reels, this one refuses to, and every rocket that fires from a wild reel feeds the same multiplier.
Clutch Gaming‘s title runs on a 5×5 grid with 15 predefined paylines starting from the leftmost reel, at an RTP of 96.01% that holds across every buy option. Its studio-mates include Duel of Wizards and Trap That Cheese, with Viking Raid Bonanza alongside them.
Base Game & Features
Wins pay left to right across those 15 lines on adjacent reels, a conventional setup that keeps the 5×5 grid easy to read. The wild substitutes for paying symbols, and that’s its whole job.
Rocket Wild Reel
The Rocket Wild Reel can land on any reel in any game mode, base game and bonuses alike. It expands into a full wild reel and reveals a number of rockets, from one to six. The first rocket fires and pushes its multiplier value into the Global Multiplier, then that multiplier is removed from the reel.
If rockets remain, a new multiplier shows on the Rocket Wild Reel and the sequence repeats until the reel runs dry. A single reel can therefore feed the Global Multiplier several times over one spin, and a reel carrying four or five rockets is where the base game’s bigger results come from.
Because the expanded reel is wild for the whole of its stay, every rocket it fires is doing two jobs at once: completing lines as a wild and fattening the multiplier applied to whatever those lines pay. A lone Rocket Wild Reel can turn an ordinary spin into something worth watching.
Global Multiplier
The Global Multiplier starts at 1x and climbs every time a rocket from a Rocket Wild Reel fires into it. It applies to the wins of the spin. In the base game it resets to 1x at the end of every spin, so base game value depends entirely on what stacks up within a single play.
Symbol Values
Pays are multiples of stake for three, four and five of a kind:
- Military Cap – 2x, 10x, 20x
- Rocket – 20x for five (no three or four of a kind pay)
- Grenade – 1x, 5x, 10x
- Map – 0.5x, 2.5x, 5x
- Radio – 0.7x, 3x, 5x
- K, A – 0.2x, 0.7x, 1x
- 10, J, Q – 0.1x, 0.5x, 1x
The ladder is top-heavy. Two symbols carry the personality here, and everything below them thins out fast towards the royals, which pay like filler because they are.
Rocket Recon Bonuses & Free Spins
Three bonus symbols or more in view triggers a free spins round, and the count you land decides which one. All three rounds award 10 free spins and build on the same rocket-and-multiplier core, but they escalate hard from one tier to the next.
- 3 Bonus symbols – Tactical Strike: 10 free spins with an increased chance of landing Rocket Wild Reels. The Global Multiplier still resets each spin.
- 4 Bonus symbols – Code Red: 10 free spins where the Global Multiplier persists for the entire bonus instead of resetting.
- 5 Bonus symbols – Heavy Artillery: 10 free spins with a persistent Global Multiplier, and every Rocket Wild Reel reveals at least three missiles.
The gap between the tiers is the whole story. Tactical Strike only raises the frequency of the wild reels, and a reset every spin keeps expectations modest. Code Red is where the maths changes, because a multiplier that never resets turns each Rocket Wild Reel into a ratchet.
Heavy Artillery stacks the guaranteed missile counts on top of that persistence. With every Rocket Wild Reel opening at three missiles or more, the multiplier has little anywhere to go but up across the ten spins.
Worth noting on the tiered structure: the step from four to five bonus symbols is the biggest single jump in the game, because it’s the only one that changes two things at once. Code Red over Tactical Strike adds persistence.
Heavy Artillery over Code Red adds the missile floor, stacking guaranteed rockets onto a multiplier that nothing can reset. Both upgrades at once is what makes five scatters the prize of the game.
Bonus Buy
Five purchase options are available, and every one of them runs at the same 96.01% RTP as the standard game. Two are modes that change the base game rather than skipping to a bonus.
- Bonus Boost mode – 2x stake
- Rocket Spins mode – 100x stake
- Tactical Strike bonus – 100x stake
- Mystery Bonus (lands 3, 4 or 5 Bonus symbols) – 220x stake
- Code Red bonus – 300x stake
- Heavy Artillery bonus – 700x stake
The pricing ladder is telling. Tactical Strike and Rocket Spins cost the same 100x, and Code Red at 300x prices the persistent multiplier at exactly three Tactical Strikes. Heavy Artillery at 700x is the full escalation.
The Mystery Bonus at 220x sits between the first two bonus tiers. You’re paying a premium over a straight Tactical Strike buy for a shot at landing the heavier rounds instead.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
Playing Rocket Recon is mostly quiet camp life, punctuated by the odd rocket launching from a wild reel. You pick it for the artillery, not the downtime: the moments when a Code Red or Heavy Artillery round starts and the multiplier refuses to go back to 1x.
The best thing here is that escalation. Because the persistent rounds keep every rocket’s contribution, a bonus can pay more with each passing spin, and the missile floor in the top tier makes that climb reliable rather than lucky. The worst thing is the flip side: in the base game nothing survives the spin, so between bonuses you’re playing slots with no memory, and it shows.
This one suits players who enjoy a slow build to a paid-for crescendo, the kind who’ll happily buy the 300x round and watch the number grow. Anyone whose patience runs out before the artillery arrives will find the wait flat. For the patient gunners in the camp, though, it’s a satisfying artillery drill.
