Wild Tomb Slot Review
Wild Tomb pays you almost nothing for its symbols and everything for what it does to them. That’s a deliberate choice, not an accident: the paytable tops out at 6x for six of a kind, and every decent result in the game comes from wilds being converted, stacked, multiplied and stuck in place on top of it.
Alchemy Gaming run it on a 6×4 grid with 20 fixed paylines, 96% RTP and high volatility. The hit rate is 26.44%, and stakes run from 0.20 to 40.00. It shares shelf space with the studio’s Bolt X UP and Chronicles of Olympus X UP.
Egypt is the oldest crowded room in slots, and a game walking into it needs something of its own. This one’s answer is a tomb that keeps giving up wilds the longer you stay down there.
Base Game & Features
Wilds substitute for everything except Scatters and orb overlay symbols, and they can form their own winning combinations on a payline. That’s the entire base job. Everything else that happens comes from the sarcophagi and the collection systems layered on top.
Sarcophagi
A sarcophagus can randomly activate on any spin and convert up to 2 Wild symbols into special Wilds. Only one sarcophagus can activate per spin, and which ones are available depends on how far you’ve unlocked the chests. There are three:
- Multiplier Wilds: available from entry, converting Wilds into 2x, 3x or 5x multipliers
- Expanding Wilds: grow to cover the entire reel, turning every position on it Wild
- Duplicating Wilds: add 2, 3, 4 or 5 extra Wilds to random positions
There’s a knock-on effect worth knowing: if a Wild is expanded over or duplicated onto, it becomes a 2x Wild multiplier. Each additional Wild landing in that same position pushes the multiplier up by one.
Multipliers only apply to the line wins they’re part of. Three chests unlock in a fixed order as you play base game spins:
- Chest 1: Expanding Wilds sarcophagus, after 50 base game spins
- Chest 2: Duplicating Wilds sarcophagus, after a further 100 spins
- Chest 3: Super Scatter symbols, after a further 100 spins
Orb Overlay Tokens and Sticky Wild Mode
One orb overlay token can land on reel 6 per spin. Collecting one can raise the Sticky Wild Mode counter by one, to a maximum of five, and it can also trigger the mode at random. Or it can do nothing at all. The collect counter resets to 2 when the mode fires.
Sticky Wild Mode lasts 5 paid spins at the triggering bet. Up to 5 Sticky Wilds are added to random positions on the first spin, with a guaranteed conversion of 1 or 2 of them into special Sticky Wilds. Up to 2 more can be converted per spin after that.
A Wild landing on a Sticky Wild makes it a 2x multiplier, climbing by one for each further Wild in that spot. The sarcophagus active on the trigger determines which one runs during the mode, and Free Spins can’t trigger alongside it.
Feature Upgrade Trail
Landing 1, 2 or 3 Scatters in the base game adds that many to the Feature Upgrade Trail. It’s a long build:
- 5 Sticky Wilds added by default
- 50 Scatters collected: 6 Sticky Wilds
- 100 Scatters collected: 7 Sticky Wilds
- 150 Scatters collected: 8 Sticky Wilds
When the trail reaches a level, the next Free Spins round starts with that many Sticky Wilds already on the reels. Triggering the round empties the trail. Only one Scatter can land per reel, and a Super Scatter only appears once Chest 3 is open.
Paytable
Wins pay left to right from the first reel, and where multiple combinations land on a single line, just the best one counts. Values below are multiples of stake for three, four, five and six of a kind:
- Masked Figure: 1x, 2x, 3x, 6x
- Chest / Vase: 0.5x, 1x, 1.5x, 2x
- Griffin / Key: 0.4x, 0.8x, 1.2x, 1.5x
- A / K: 0.3x, 0.6x, 1x, 1.2x
- Q / J / 10: 0.2x, 0.4x, 0.8x, 1x
That’s a flat paytable by any standard, with even the top symbol paying modestly at six of a kind. The line wins are clearly not where this game’s money lives – it’s in the wild systems stacking on top of them.
Wild Tomb Free Spins & Bonus Features
Free Spins and Super Free Spins
Landing 4 Scatters triggers 8 free spins. If one of the four is a Super Scatter, you get Super Free Spins with 12 free spins instead. That’s the whole difference between the two on the surface – the Super version is longer, and it needs Chest 3 open to even be possible.
Inside the round, every Wild that lands becomes a Sticky Wild and stays for the rest of the feature. The Feature Upgrade Trail level decides how many Sticky Wilds start on the reels: 5 by default, or 6, 7 or 8 if you’ve filled the trail. Only sarcophagi available in the base game at the trigger run during the feature.
One or two Sticky Wilds are guaranteed to convert into special Sticky Wilds on the first spin, and up to 2 more can convert on each spin after that. The stacking rule from the base game applies here too, so Wilds landing on Sticky Wilds keep raising their multipliers.
The round can’t retrigger. The build has to come from within.
Wild Tomb Mode
Collecting 12 uniquely positioned Wilds during the feature triggers Wild Tomb Mode: 4 additional free spins and 4 more Sticky Wilds added to random positions. On a board already crowded with sticky multipliers, those four extra Wilds are where a round can suddenly pay several times over.
Upsizer
If Free Spins triggers and the Super Free Spins chest is unlocked, the Upsizer offers an upgrade to Super Free Spins for a calculated cost, paid before the round begins. It’s unavailable if Super Free Spins already triggered, can’t be bought through the Buy Feature, and is capped above a certain bet threshold.
Buy Feature
Both rounds can be bought directly, once the relevant chests are open:
- Free Spins Buy: 100x bet, available after Chest 2
- Super Free Spins Buy: 200x bet, available after Chest 3
A bought round starts with a random 5, 6, 7 or 8 Sticky Wilds on the reels, and buying doesn’t reset the Feature Upgrade Trail on your return to the base game. Both buys run at 96% RTP, the same as everything else here. The feature is capped above a certain bet threshold and may not be available in all regions.
Our Honest Verdict
Overall Rating: 7.2/10
This is a slow burn, and the tomb suits it. You play Wild Tomb because you want to spend a session filling counters, unlocking chests and arriving at a free spins round already loaded with sticky wilds, rather than scratching around for line wins that barely exist. Nobody picks it for the paytable, and the game knows it.
The strength is how neatly everything feeds the same place. Orbs, Scatters, chests, sarcophagi – it’s all one system pointed at a single payoff, and when a round goes well it goes very well indeed. The weakness is the road there: 150 Scatters for the best trail level is a long way to walk for 8 spins that can’t retrigger, and the game never tells you what the ceiling is.
For patient players who enjoy watching a board fill up, it’s one of the better-built versions of that idea. For anyone who wants regular payouts to keep a session moving, the tomb stays sealed. Bring patience and the sarcophagus pays it back; bring none and you’ll be buried long before the wilds arrive.
