Egyptians worshipped many animals for thousands of years, but it was cats that they believed to be the most special. Cats were seen as magical creatures, bringing forth good luck to those who housed them.

In a way to honor their beloved cats, wealthy families would dress them with expensive jewels and gift them treats fit for Royalty. Cats were believed to be so special that if anyone caused death to a cat during this time, even by accident, they would be sentenced to death.

Moving on from Goats and Llamas, Fantasma Games are giving cats their very own spotlight, but with so many feline-friendly slots already on the market, is there room for one more?

Out of the hundreds of cat-themed slots out there, Snowborn Studios’ Cat Clans and Cats of the Caribbean titles are the first that spring to mind as two of the best, but where will Wicked Kitty fit into all of this? Let’s play on and find out!

Wicked Kitty Base Game and Features

Wicked Kitty is a 5-reel slot with up to 7,776 ways to win. Winning combinations are formed when 3 or more of the same symbols land from left to right, starting from the leftmost reel.

The minimum bet available here is £.€0.20 per spin and the maximum bet available is £.€50 per spin, with plenty of other options in between the two. Wicked Kitty has a theoretical RTP of 94.53% and a max win cap of 4,544x.

In terms of symbols, the highest-paying regular symbol here is the Pink Cat, followed by the Orange, Green, Blue, and Purple Cats. Low-paying symbols fall to Pink, Orange, Green, Blue, and Purple Potions. Regular Wilds and Kitty Wilds appear only on reels 2, 3, and 4, substituting for all High and Low-paying symbols from the paytable.

Wicked Respin

During the base game, the Wicked Respin feature can be triggered when 1 or more Kitty Wild symbols land in view and is part of at least 1 winning combination.

Sat at the top of the main reel set are 15 Blocker symbols. Each Wild Kitty symbol that is part of a winning combination will remove  3 random Blocker symbols, expanding the reels and opening up the ways to win.

Once active, a Respin will be awarded. The Wicked Respin will continue until no new Kitty Wild symbols are part of a winning combination, or until the Super Respin is triggered.

Super Respin

In order to trigger the Super Respin feature, you will need to remove all 15 Blocker symbols from the top of the reel set. Once active, 2 Respins are awarded whilst the reels are fully unlocked and the Wicked Multiplier is on the highest value.

Wicked Multiplier

Activating the Wicked Multiplier is achieved when a full row of Blocker symbols is removed. For each full row of Blocker symbols removed, the Wicked Multiplier will increase by +1 Level.

Mystery Feature

During any random spin in both the base game and Free Spins round, there is a chance of triggering the Mystery feature. Once active, the Mystery feature has 2 activations: Mystery Pattern and Mystery Kitty.

• Mystery Pattern – Places a random pattern of 6 positions across the reels, including 1 Kitty Wild symbol, and a randomly selected symbol from the paytable (except Wild) is placed on the remaining 5 positions.
• Mystery Kitty – Places a random number of Kitty Wilds and Kitty Blocker symbols across the reels. After symbol placement, the game proceeds as a normal spin.

Please note, the Mystery feature cannot trigger during Respins. Special Gold Kitty Blocker symbols can be randomly placed on a Blocker position during the Mystery feature only.

If a Kitty Wild symbol removes a Kitty Blocker, the Kitty Blocker symbol will automatically activate. Once active, the Kitty Blocker will place a Kitty Wild in a random position on the next Respin.

Wicked Kitty Free Spins

Landing 3 Key Scatters on reels 2, 3, and 4 triggers the Free Spins round, awarding 15 Free Spins.

During Free Spins, any additional Key Scatters that land during this time will award an extra +1 Free Spin per Scatter, up to a maximum of 15 additional Free Spins in total.

Wicked Kitty: Our Verdict

Wicked Kitty is visually astounding and quite charming as they usually are, but how does it measure up where it really matters?

It does and it doesn’t in equal measure. Through testing it ourselves we found ourselves compelled by moments of excitement, and at other times it let us down in a rather spectacular way. Of course, this is the nature of every slot, so Fantasma can’t be blamed too much for not making a game that showers you with riches 100% of the time, but they can be held to account on Wicked Kitty’s questionable RTP.

RTP is on the downward slope just about everywhere, especially in Germany, but we’d have loved to have seen a figure closer to the 96% mark here, or even above 95% would have been appreciated.

Never mind. RTP is irrelevant to many anyway, but one thing that people do take notice of is the maximum win. In Wicked Kitty’s case, the maximum potential is a modest 4,544x. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but you’d cheer rather loudly if you won it.

Overall, Wicked Kitty isn’t Fantasma’s greatest masterpiece, but it has appeal.
